OXYGEN CONCENTRATOR 1. The On/Off switch is on the face front of the machine. An audible alarm will sound when the machine is turned on. Also, this alarm will sound if there is a loss of electricity. Check to be sure that the machine is plugged in properly. 2. The flow knob is below the flowmeter. This knob is used to set the proper flow which is prescribed by your physician. The flowmeter should never be changed to another flow setting without your physician s order. A visual check should be made to insure that the flow control has not been inadvertently changed. 3. The oxygen tubing should be attached to the protruding connector on the front of the machine. The cannula (nose piece) then should be placed into the nares and over the ears. Care should be taken not to stand on or kink the oxygen tubing. 4. The cannula (nose piece) should be changed every 7-10 days. Change all other tubing every 30 days if using a humidifier and every 60-90 days if you are not using a humidifier. 5. You should use extreme caution during walking to avoid the possibility of becoming entangled in the tubing. 6. If a humidifier is used, it should be cleaned daily with warm soapy water (such as dishwashing detergent) and rinsed thoroughly. Refill the bottle to the fill line with fresh water. USE ONLY DISTILLED WATER. You should disinfect your humidifier at least once a week. This can be done by soaking the humidifier in a solution of one part white vinegar to three parts hot water for 30-45 minutes, after you have washed it. Rinse thoroughly with hot water and refill with distilled water to the fill line. 7. The external filter, on the back of your machine, should be washed weekly in clean, soapy water, rinsed thoroughly and towel dried. (Not applicable on all models). 8. The outside of the machine may be wiped down with any mild household detergent. 9. Your machine is equipped with a built-in circuit breaker to protect the machine during any electrical mishap. This breaker is found on the front of the machine. If there is a stem protruding outward, push this stem in, then turn the machine on. If the machine does not start, contact us at 614-566-0850 or 1-800-300-7075. Be sure to place yourself on your back-up system while you wait for us to respond. 10. The oxygen concentrator should not be placed on or near a heat register, open flames or any heat generating device. 11. The use of extension cords is not advised, if it is necessary, it is limited to those cords having at least a diameter equal to that of the cord equipped with the machine. 12. No Smoking regulations must be strictly enforced, with No Smoking signs clearly visible to visitors.
OPERATING YOUR OXYGEN CYLINDER NORMAL USE OF YOUR OXYGEN STEP 1 OPEN THE CYLINDER VALVE BY TURNING VALVE COUNTERCLOCKWISE. BY DOING THIS STEP IT WILL OPEN THE CYLINDER UP AND ALLOW OXYGEN TO FLOW TO YOUR REGULATOR. STEP 2 LOOK AT THE PRESSURE GAUGE ON YOUR REGULATOR TO DETERMINE THE AMOUNT OF OXYGEN THAT IS IN YOUR CYLINDER. A FULL CYLINDER WILL REGISTER ABOUT 2200 PSI. STEP 3 ADJUST THE FLOW TO YOUR PRESCRIPTION LEVEL. TURN THE DIAL ON YOUR REGULATOR TO THE FLOW RATE THAT HAS BEEN PRESCRIBED BY YOUR DOCTOR. STEP 4 ATTACH THE CANNULA TO YOUR NOSE AND EARS. PUT THE CANNULA ON WITH THE NASAL PRONGS CURVING DOWNWARD. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH SKIN IRRITATIONS, LET HOMEREACH KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM. PUT THE PRONGS IN YOUR NOSE FIRST. THEN BRING THE TUBING OVER AND BEHIND YOUR EARS AND BACK TO YOUR CHIN. SECURE WITH THE SLIP LOOP UNDER YOUR CHIN AND ADJUST TO YOUR COMFORT. STEP 5 TURN YOUR TANK OFF WHEN YOU ARE NOT USING YOUR OXYGEN. TURN THE VALVE HANDLE CLOCKWISE UNTIL IT STOPS. THE PRESSURE GAUGE WILL GO DOWN TO ZERO. HUMIDIFIERS (IF APPLICABLE) HUMIDIFIER MUST AL WAYS BE UPRIGHT TO AVOID WATER BACK INTO THE NOSE PIECE OR LAND TUBING. YOUR HUMIDIFIER ATTACHES TO THE REGULATOR. SCREW IT ON GENTLY AND EASILY. IF YOU HAVE TO FORCE IT ON, REMOVE IT AND TRY AGAIN. IF THE HUMIDIFIER IS NOT PUT ON PROPERLY THE FLOW OF OXYGEN WILL BE COMPROMISED. WHEN THE HUMIDIFIER IS EMPTY, REFILL OR DISCARD. REPLACE THE REGULATOR AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. NEVER USE A HUMIDIFIER WITH A PORTABLE OXYGEN TANK. TEST TO SEE IF THE HUMIDIFIER IS ON PROPERLY, BLOCK THE OUTLET WITH YOUR FINGER AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES FOR POP-OFF SOUND. ATTACH TUBING TO THE HUMIDIFIER BOTTLE AND PUT THE NASAL PRONGS INTO A GLASS OF WATER. YOU SHOULD SEE BUBBLES IN THE WATER. THIS ASSURES YOU THAT THE OXYGEN IS FLOWING PROPERLY. CANNULA CHANGE HOMEREACH RECOMMENDS THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR CANNULA (NOSEPIECE) ONCE A WEEK. WE ASK THIS TO PREVENT ANY BACTERIA GROWTH. PLEASE DISCARD ALL OLD CANNULAS AS YOU REMOVE THEM.

SAFE USE OF OXYGEN 1). Keep oxygen 6 feet away from any heat source. This includes cylinders as well as tubing. 2). Secure cylinders in proper base at all times. Extra cylinders need to be stored lying down. Do not store your oxygen in a small confined area such as a closet or under an electric bed. Oxygen needs to be in a well-ventilated area. 3). Do not use grease or oil on oxygen equipment, including your oxygen tubing. Keep all oxygen tubing and cylinders away from flammable oils and greases such as: Vaseline, hand lotion, aerosol sprays, hair lubrications and oil based face cream. 4). No smoking allowed in the same room as the oxygen. Post No Smoking signs on the doors of your residence. 5). Do not use electric hair dryer or electric shaver. Sparks from appliances could burn your face.
