Apply & Pay for Building Permits on Accela Citizen Access Permit Types Citizen Access online applications can ONLY be used for RESIDENTIAL appliance REPLACEMENT permits and reroof permits that do NOT require any type of plan review or any additional work to be performed, like new gas lines, new electrical wiring, any new equipment that did not previously exist, etc. If the permit that you are applying for is not listed below then contact the Building Division 720-874-6600. The allowable permit types are as follows, including the combinations listed. AC AC / Furnace AC / Furnace / Water Heater Gas AC / Furnace / Water Heater Electric AC / Water Heater Gas AC / Water Heater Electric Electrical Service replacements (up to 200 amp service) Furnace Furnace / Water Heater Gas Furnace / Water Heater Electric Gas Logs Reroof (like-for-like replacement only, asphalt to tile would require a permit submittal) Sprinkler (lawn) Swamp Cooler Water Heater Gas Water Heater Electric NO tankless Water Heaters, no new gas lines, no new electrical lines, no commercial permits, etc. Fees All fees must be paid online using a credit card (Visa or MasterCard) Open Space Use Tax - An Open Space Use Tax of one quarter of one percent shall be assessed upon the material valuation, normally calculated at 50% of the total valuation of the project. Any applicant wanting to use an alternate valuation method must apply for the permit in person at the Arapahoe County Building Department.
How to apply for a building permit online and pay fees 1. Verify your property is within Unincorporated Arapahoe County. If you live in a city (Littleton, Englewood, Centennial, etc.) you need to contact the city to apply for building permits 2. Once you have confirmed you are within Unincorporated Arapahoe County, login into the site or register for a new account see How to register for an ACA account user guide
3. Once you are logged in click on the Building tab 4. To start your Online Application read and accept the terms and click Continue Application
5. Click Select from Account to automatically add your existing contact information 6. After your contact information has been updated successfully click Continue Application 7. Enter the property address and click Search (you can also search by Parcel Number)
8. If the address is found and within Unincorporated Arapahoe County it will automatically populate the Owner and Parcel information. Then click Continue Application 9. Entered the Detail Information about the type of work being performed, the job value, select the correct Permit Type and then click Continue Application
10. Review and confirm all information entered is correct then click Continue Application
11. Review Fees and click Continue Application to make a payment 12. Pay Fees by entering payment information and then click Submit Payment
13. After payment is successful, you will be able to view and print your permit and receipt. A copy of the permit must be posted in the work area.
14. You can click on View Record Details to see your permit details & print your permit
How to schedule a building permit inspection online Please review the important information below before you schedule an inspection online The Building Division cannot guarantee inspections for any particular time of the day. Anyone using the system incorrectly will be contacted and their system access may be revoked for repeated noncompliant usage of the system. Access must be provided to the inspection area. If ladder(s) are required to perform the requested inspection for example, a reroof or attic furnace replacement the applicant shall be responsible for providing adequate, duty rated ladders for the inspection to occur. It is suggested and desirable, but not required, for the contractor to be present during the inspection, to be able to review any code violations and to possibly correct any minor issues during the inspection. The inspectors may be contacted between 7:00 and 7:30 AM the day of the inspection to obtain an approximate inspection time (a 2-hour window) or to make other arrangements. 1. To schedule a building inspection click on Record Info and then Inspections 2. Under the Inspections section click on Actions & then Schedule next to the inspection you would like to schedule
3. Select an available date (blue with underline) then select All Day and click Continue 4. Verify the location, contact person and inspection are correct then click Continue
5. If necessary, you can change the contact person and specify someone else other than the contact on file before proceeding to the next step 6. You will get a final chance to confirm all of your selections and you can Include Additional Notes like an alternate phone number if necessary
7. After confirming all the information is correct and adding notes, if necessary, click Finish to schedule the inspection 8. After clicking finish you will see the time and date you selected for the inspection you just scheduled
