TABLE OF CONTENTS Safety 1 Table of Contents 2 General 2 Key Components 2 Installation 3 Periodic Maintenance 4 Troubleshooting 5 Manufacturer s Declaration of Conformity 6 Bulb disposal 6 New Equipment Limited Warranty 6 Description GENERAL The Franke Air Purification System (APS300) works by removing microbes, ethylene, hydrocarbons, odors and other contaminants from the atmosphere within a medium temperature refrigerated storage space, typically walk-in refrigerators. By removing these contaminants, fruits and vegetables maintain their color, texture and taste longer, extending shelf life and reducing waste. The APS300 is not meant to purify the air of low temperature refrigerated storage spaces, such as walk-in freezers. INSTALLATION Installation Guidelines Example - 10 x10 Walk-In Refrigerator 1. Install the unit as close to the ceiling as possible, for optimum air purifi cation, while ensuring a minimum clearance above the unit of at least 4 (100mm) (See Fig. 2 & Fig. 3). Fig. 2 - Left-hand installation inside walk-in & minimum clearances Fig. 4 - Optimum placement of APS300 is right or left side of evaporator, alternatively inline (min. clearance 5 (1500mm)) Fig. 3 - Right-hand installation inside walk-in & minimum clearances 2. If unit cannot be installed close to ceiling, install at least 12 (300mm) above fl oor (from bottom of the unit). 3. Ensure minimum clearances of at least 4 (100 mm) can be maintained in front of air inlets and clean air outlet. (See Fig. 2 & Fig. 3) 4. Place unit in the walk-in so that the evaporator airfl ow does not directly blow into, or pull air through, the APS300 air inlets or clean air outlet, right or left of evaporator (See Fig. 4). This applies directly next to evaporator, further to the sides, or further down line (in front of or behind). 5. If the APS300 must be installed with its air inlets or clean air outlet directly in line with the airfl ow of the evaporator, ensure a minimum clearance distance of 5 (1500mm) to avoid excessive air fl ow through the unit (See Fig. 4). 6. Place unit so that the ON/OFF switch and LED lights are accessible. 7. Never install the APS300 in a low temperature refrigerated storage space (freezer). 8. If multiple units are required, distribute them evenly throughout the refrigerated storage space. NOTE: Each APS300 unit has the capacity to purify up to 2500 cu. ft. (70 cu. meters) of medium temperature refrigerated storage space. For spaces greater than 2500 cu. ft., additional APS300 units will be required. Installation Steps The power cord is attached to the front of the unit and may be caught and pulled during normal loading/ unloading of the walk-in refrigerator or cold storage 3 of 6

INSTALLATION area, creating a falling object hazard, if the not properly secured. Secure the power cord to shelving, a wall, or other stable surface, as close to the strain relief as possible, with fasteners approved by local and national electrical/mechanical codes to eliminate the potential hazard. Operation 1. Position the APS300 inside the medium temperature refrigerated storage space per the installation guidelines. 2. Plug the unit into the nearest un-switched electrical outlet rated to the voltage on the unit s model/serial number plate. 3. Secure the power cord. 1. Power unit on using the power ON/OFF switch located on the control panel. (Fig 5 & Fig 6) - The LED status light will briefl y illuminate red, before changing to green. This is normal during start up. 2. When the LED status light illuminates green, the APS300 is functioning properly. - If the LED status light does not illuminate green, refer to the Status Indicator Table (See Table 3). 3. The APS300 is designed to operate 24 hours a day, once it is powered on. Fig. 5 Power Switch - ON position Fig. 6 Power Switch - OFF position PERIODIC MAINTENANCE Weekly Maintenance Clean the exterior of the APS300 with a damp towel and ensure air inlets and clean air outlet are clear of debris. Annual Maintenance Risk of severe damage to the eyes and skin - The bulbs inside this unit emit ultraviolet (UV-C) radiation. - Avoid exposure to direct or refl ected UV-C light. - Never look into an illuminated UV-C bulbs without proper eye protection. The UV-C bulbs diminish in strength over time and need to be replaced every 12 months. The LED status light will blink red 5 times, repeatedly, when replacement is required. A slow, audible beep will also be heard when bulb replacement is due Replacement bulbs must be ordered through the Franke Service Network. Be sure to identify the product by model number APS300 to ensure the correct bulb replacement kit is ordered. Follow the instructions that come with the kit to complete the bulb replacement procedure. NOTICE Do not use UV bulbs, or any other lamps that may fit in the sockets and are sold by any other source other than Franke. Product performance will be affected and warranty may be voided. 4 of 6

TROUBLESHOOTING APS300 Troubleshooting Table PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE WHAT TO DO Unit is not powered ON Table 2 Unit is unplugged Wall outlet is not working Unit s circuit breaker has been tripped 1. Verify unit is plugged into an outlet. 1. Plug unit into an alternate outlet, if possible. If original outlet is not working, use alternate and contact a licensed electrician to repair original outlet. 2. Verify that the outlet is un-switched (no ON/OFF light switch in circuit). 1. Visually check circuit breaker located on the control panel. If a white strip is visible, then the breaker is tripped and needs to be reset. (Fig 7 & 8) 2. Power unit off using the power ON/OFF switch located on the control panel. (Fig. 5) 3. Unplug unit from the outlet. 4. Reset circuit breaker located on the control panel by pushing the visible indicator back into the circuit breaker. (Fig. 8) 5. Plug unit into an outlet. 6.
