SECTION 220523 GENERAL DUTY VALVES FOR PLUMBING PART I - GENERAL 1.01 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and other Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.02 SCOPE A. The valves for the various plumbing systems shall be as hereinafter described in this section. PART II - PRODUCTS 2.01 VALVES GENERAL USE A. The water supply system shall be fitted with valves at points specified or indicated on the Drawings. Provide minimum ¾ hose end drain ball valves with vacuum breakers and threaded caps with chains at all low points of the water system to provide for drainage. Drain valves with caps and chains shall be the Nibco No. T/S-585-70-HC, bronze, full port, or approved equivalent. Valves shall conform to MSS SP-110. B. All shut-off valves in water lines, 2-1/2 and smaller, except balancing valves, shall be ball type as specified. Larger valves, except balancing valves, shall be gate type as specified. C. All valves for general use shall be Nibco Inc., Milwaukee, Apollo, or Watts. D. All valves shall be designated for a minimum 125 pounds per square inch (S.W.P.), 200 pounds per square inch (W.O.G.). E. Bronze or brass valves, including check valves and balancing valves, shall be made to be dezincification resistant, with metal components in the waterway, or not containing more than 15% zinc in their chemical makeup. Other than balancing valves herein specified, brass shutoff valves of any type will not be acceptable. F. The name or trademark of the manufacturer and the guaranteed working pressure shall be cast or stamped on the body. G. Shutoff Valves: Valves 2-1/2 and smaller shall be ball type, the Nibco No. T/S-580-70, or approved equivalent. Valves shall conform to MSS SP-110. The Nibco "Nib-Seal" insulated ball valve, 2-1/2" and smaller, will be acceptable. Valves 3 and larger shall be gate type, the Nibco No. T-617-0 or F-617-0, or approved equivalent. Valves shall be iron body, bronze mounted, outside screw and yoke, solid wedge, flanged or threaded, Class 125. Valves shall conform to MSS SP-70. 1. The Apollo Series 77C-200-AO full port bronze ball valve, 2 and smaller, with 2 tube extensions and conforming to MSS SP-110, or approved equivalent, will be acceptable for installation with the press tubing assembly system. 14030 GENERAL DUTY VALVES FOR PLUMBING 220523-1

2. The Nibco No. PF-585-70 Series bronze ball valve with female press ends, 2 and smaller, will be acceptable for installation with the press tubing assembly, with silicon bronze stem, and plated brass ball. The Nibco Nib-Seal PF-585-70-NS insulated ball valve will be acceptable. Valve shall conform to MSS SP-110. 3. Ball valves for the PermaLynx System shall be the Victaulic Nvent PermaLynx PL200 Series, or approved equivalent. Valves shall be 2 and smaller. 4. Furnish and install lockable water valves for equipment installations where specified or indicated on the drawing details, Nibco, or approved equivalent. H. Check Valves: Valves in water lines shall be of the horizontal swing check type. Valves with brass discs shall be regrinding type. Valves 3" and smaller shall be Nibco S-413/T-413, or approved equivalent. Valves shall conform to MSS SP-80. Valves 4" and larger shall have iron bodies, bronze mounted, Nibco Figure F-918/T-918, or approved equivalent. Valves shall conform to MSS SP- 71, Type 1. 1. Check valves for the PermaLynx System shall either be the horizontal swing check type as specified with adapters, or the Victaulic Nvent PermaLynx PL500 Series, or approved equivalent. Valves shall be 2 and smaller. I. Backflow Preventers 2" and Smaller (except as herein specified): Reduced pressure zone type, bronze body, Watts Series 909QT-S, with 909-AG air gap fitting piped to nearest drain, Wilkins, or Apollo. Quarter turn, full port ball valves and strainer, with bronze body ball test cocks. A stainless steel backflow preventer will be acceptable. J. Dual Check Valves ¼ thru 3/8 (vending, tea, coffee, or ice machine): Installation shall be of 316 stainless steel body, corrosion-resistant, internal rubber components, for continuous pressure, the Watts Series No. SD-2/SD-3, Wilkins, or Apollo. Valve shall be certified to ANSI/NSF Standard 18, Manual Food and Beverage Dispensing Equipment. Model SD-3 includes an atmospheric port requiring extension of relief piping, and shall be utilized wherever possible. The Watts Model 9BD acceptable. Provide strainer ahead of either installation. K. Double Check Backflow Preventer ½ Size: All bronze body, the Watts Series 7, Wilkins, or Apollo, with plastic check modules, silicone discs, Buna-N seals, and stainless steel springs, suitable for continuous pressure. A Watts Series Cu7 copper-body dual check valve, or equivalent, will be acceptable. Provide strainer ahead. L. Other Backflow Preventers ½ and Smaller: All bronze body, reduced pressure zone type, the Watts No. 009QT-S, with 909-AG air gap fitting piped to nearest drain, Wilkins, or Apollo. Quarter turn, full port ball valves, with bronze body ball test cocks, with tee handle shutoffs, and strainer. A stainless steel backflow preventer will be acceptable. M. Vacuum Breakers: Where specified, noted, or required, vacuum breakers shall be rough bronze, non-removable, the Watts No. 8A, Wilkins, or Chicago Faucet. Watts No. 8AC, or equivalent for chrome vacuum breakers. N. Silent Check Valves 2 and Smaller: Mueller Steam Specialty Model 303 AP, Titan, Nibco, or Apco. Designed to prevent backflow, surge, and water hammer. Body/cap shall include C.I. ASTM A126-B/C.S ASTM A216-WCB. Gasket assembly shall be non-asbestos. ASTM B16; and spring, 302 stainless steel. Working pressure, WOG rating of 200 PSI at 150 degrees F. Suitable for horizontal or vertical flow, threaded. 100% hydrostatically tested. O. Unions: Wrot copper, ground joints, and solder ends, Nibco, or approved equivalent. P. Dishwasher Dual Check Backflow Preventer: All bronze body, Watts Series 7, with plastic check modules, silicone discs, Buna-N seals, and stainless steel springs. A Watts Series Cu7 copper-body check valve, or equivalent, will be acceptable. Provide strainer ahead. Wilkins or Apollo shall be approved equals. Q. Balancing Stations (B.S.): Each balancing station shall consist of a check valve, balancing cock and a thermometer. The Contractor shall balance the various hot water piping systems to maintain no more than 3 degrees temperature differential between all loops. R. Water Heater Thermostatic Temperature Control Valves Water heater thermostatic temperature control valves shall be the Symmons TempControl #5-1000A-NI-W-NW, Leonard, or Lawler, thermostatic controller, rough brass or rough chrome, complete with all components, check stops, volume control shutoff valve, bi-metal mercury-free dial thermometer, wall mounted. Furnish a spare cartridge or main thermostatic control device for each valve to the Owner. S. Relief Valves Relief valves shall be ASME, pressure relief type or combination temperature/pressure relief type, as manufactured by Watts, Kunkle, or Apollo. Extend each relief valve outlet to nearest funnel/floor drain or safe waste. 2.02 PRESSURE REDUCING VALVES A. Pressure reducing valves of 4" size shall be the Watts Series 127 W-WR, iron body, flanged, with No. 223 bronze auxiliary valve installed for low flows, complete with all piping, equalizing lines, needle valve, valves, and gauges, per manufacturer's recommendations, or approved equivalent. B. Pressure reducing valves of 3 size shall be the Watts Series N223F-WR, iron body, flanged, with No. 223 bronze auxiliary valve as described in the preceding paragraph, or approved equivalent. C. Pressure reducing valves of sizes 2-1/2" and smaller shall be of bronze construction, the Watts Series 223 or N223B as required, or approved equivalent. D. Furnish and install a strainer ahead of each pressure reducing valve, of type specified. Reducing valve with integral strainer will be acceptable. E. Comparable pressure reducing valves as manufactured by Apollo, Spirax-Sarco, Watson McDaniel, or equivalent, will be acceptable. F. Provide a pressure gauge on inlet and outlet of each pressure reducing valve. 2.03 POINT-OF-USE MIXING VALVES 14030 GENERAL DUTY VALVES FOR PLUMBING 220523-3

A. Individual thermostatic point-of-use mixing valves shall be provided at each sink, lavatory, bank of fixtures, or other appliance requiring hot water. Mixing valves shall be the Symmons Industries MAXLINE Series 5-210, 5-225, or 5-230, Leonard, or Lawler. Valve shall be of brass and bronze body construction, rough chrome or polished chrome finish, minimum flow rate,.5 GPM; brass and stainless steel flow control components, vandal-resistant temperature handle adjustment, integral checks/strainers, and wall mounting bracket. Temperature range, Series 5-210, 85 degrees F. to 160 degrees F; Series 5-225 and 5-230, 120 degrees F. to 180 degrees F; control of temperature +/- 7 degrees F., Series 5-210; 60 degrees F to 140 degrees F for Series 5-225 and 5-230. Fail-safe design. Mixing valve shall conform to ASSE 1070. 1. For other locations, set outlet temperatures of mixers as shown or as otherwise directed by the Owner. 2. Furnish and install shutoff valves on inlet and outlet lines of each mixer. 3. Refer to the mixing valve schedule shown on the drawings. 2.04 STOPS A. Each plumbing fixture furnished under this Contract and each piece of special equipment furnished under other contracts or by the Owner shall, unless otherwise shown or specified, be provided with compression stop valves on the water supply lines. On copper or PEX lines, ball valves shall be installed on branch water lines to equipment. Stops shall be finished brass, chrome-plated where exposed and shall be provided with stop control as shown or specified. 2.05 RELIEF VALVES A. Relief valves shall be ASME, pressure relief type or combination temperature/pressure relief type, as manufactured by Watts, Kunkle, or Apollo. Extend each relief valve outlet to nearest funnel/floor drain or safe waste. 2.06 BUTTERFLY VALVES A. Nibco N200 Series, Watts, DeZurik, or approved equivalent, lug style, cast iron, ASTM A126CL.B, bronze body bushing, EPDM rubber liner, aluminum bronze disc, stainless steel one-piece stem, bi-directional flow, and bronze shaft bushing. Valve shall include bubble tight shutoff. Butterfly valves shall meet or exceed requirements of MSS-SP67. PART III EXECUTION 3.01 INSTALLATION A. All valves must be accessible. B. Provide a shutoff valve at the base of up fed water risers and at the top of down fed water risers with a minimum ¾ hose end ball drain valve with vacuum breaker and threaded cap with chain at the base of all water risers, of types specified. C. Each piece of equipment that may have to be removed from the system for repair shall be connected by union or flange, and provided with isolation valves. 14030 GENERAL DUTY VALVES FOR PLUMBING 220523-4

D. Upon installation, all testable backflow preventers provided by the Plumbing Contractor shall be tested under the Plumbing Contract, in accordance with manufacturer s installation standards, or in accordance with local authorities or utility company having jurisdiction over the installations. All testing shall be completed by persons certified in this type of work. All costs, fees, or charges required for testing shall be included in the Contract price. SECTION 221429 PLUMBING PUMPS PART 1 - GENERAL 1.01 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and other Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.02 SCOPE A. The pumps shall each be as hereinafter described in this section, of sizes and capacities as noted on the Drawings, and as herein specified. B. The pumps shall each be installed in accordance with the prevailing local plumbing codes. C. All pumps must be accessible. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 RECIRCULATING PUMPS A. Circulating pumps shall be of all bronze construction or stainless steel construction, lubricated, the Bell and Gossett Booster Series, Taco, or Armstrong. Circulating pump providing circulation between heater and storage tank shall be the B & G Series, or equivalent, furnished by the heater manufacturer for installation under the Plumbing Contract. Provide an aquastat to control each pump operation. Refer to the schedule shown on drawings for capacities and electrical characteristics. B. Power wiring will be furnished and installed under the Electrical Contract. Manual motor starters shall be furnished under the Plumbing Contract and delivered to the Electrical Contractor for installation. All control wiring required to operate aquastats and pumps shall be included under this Contract, of type specified. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.01 INSTALLATION A. Install each pump in accordance with manufacturer's written recommendations and installation instructions. B. For each recirculating pump, furnish and install a ball shutoff valve and strainer on inlet piping to the pump, with a balancing cock on outlet piping. Furnish and install a check valve where shown. SECTION 223300 DOMESTIC HOT WATER HEATING EQUIPMENT PART 1 - GENERAL 1.01 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and other Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.02 SCOPE A. Furnish and install a domestic natural gas-fired water heater/storage tank unit, complete with expansion tank equipment and associated accessories, as shown on the Drawings and as herein specified. 1.03 CODE COMPLIANCE A. Water heater shall be installed in accordance with and shall meet or exceed the energy efficiency requirements set forth by applicable portions of The International Energy Conservation Code, and all applicable state, federal, and local codes having jurisdiction. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 WATER HEATER AND STORAGE TANK (NATURAL GAS) A. Natural gas water heater shall be State Sandblaster model #SBD81 199NE or equal, with a storage capacity of 81 gallons, an input rating of 199,000 BTUs per hour, a recovery rating of 263 GPH at 100ºF rise and a maximum hydrostatic working pressure of 160 psi. The water heater shall be protected against overheating caused by the buildup of scale, film and other sediment by a self-cleaning device, positioned inside the tank so that it directs the flow of inlet water to keep precipitated solids in suspension so that they are removed from the water heater on that or successive draws. Glass-lined water heater shall also be protected against electrolytic corrosion by multiple factory-installed anode rods. In addition, the water heater shall: 1. Be design-certified by Underwriters Laboratories under Volume III tests for commercial water heaters for delivery of 180º water. 4. Be design-certified by UL (Underwriters Laboratories) to current edition of ANSI Z21.10.3 - CSA 4.3 standards governing storage-type water heaters. 5. Meet the thermal efficiency and standby loss requirements of the U.S. Department of Energy and Current Edition of ASHRAE/IESNA 90.1. 6. B. Storage tank shall be a State glass-lined storage tank model #PVG 0120 O0VTA125. Tank shall be 51-3/4 x 28 and have a nominal capacity of 120 gallons. Tank shall have threaded openings. Interior of tank shall be glass-lined with an alkaline borosilicate composition which has been fused to the steel by firing at a temperature of 1600 F. Glass coating shall be continuous over the entire inner surface of the tank. Outer jacket shall have a baked enamel finish. Foam insulation to meet R12.5 minimum thermal insulation requirements of the Department of Energy and current edition of ASHRAE/IESNA 90.1. Cathodic protection shall be provided. Tank shall have a working pressure of 150 psi. 2.02 EXPANSION TANKS A. Furnish and install an Amtrol Expansion Tank model ST-20VC for the hot water system. Watts DETA Series, Wessels Company or approved equivalent, of required capacity. Tank shall be pre-charged, field adjustable, carbon steel, with FDA approved bladder, stainless steel system connection, and charging valve. Tank must be constructed in accordance with Section VIII of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, with prime painted exterior. Insulate expansion tank as specified. Expansion tank shall be furnished with an ASME pressure relief valve as designated by the Ohio Department of Labor and Industry regulations. Valve inlet to tank. 2.03 RELIEF VALVES A.
