Certification Introduction UTC Fire and Security operate and manage the EMEA implementation of the Lenel OnGuard Certification Program. All Value Added resellers (VARs) and Direct Support Users are required to maintain adequately certified Engineers in their team for the type of OnGuard system being proposed, implemented or maintained. The entry level certification is CORE and everyone needs this basic certification to gain access to the support mechanisms at UTC Fire and Security for OnGuard products. CORE certification recognizes the ability of an Engineer to work with basic OnGuard systems. From this point there are four routes to the top-level EXPERT certification level; Access, Video, Intrusion and Data. Along the way there is a PROFESSIONAL certification within each discipline. To support the transitions between certification levels UTC Fire and Security offer a range of classes and on-line tools. The classroom courses are detailed within this course catalogue. Distance Learning (over-the-web) courses are available to keep up-to-date with the latest versions of Lenel OnGuard hardware, software and feature set. All certified Engineers are required to complete courses that keep their knowledge, skills and abilities current within 120 days of an updated product release. The VAR investment in OnGuard certification is protected. Should a certified Engineer leave their employer within twelve months of achieving their certification and then applies for and achieves certification transfer to a different VAR the original VAR is compensated via free certification for one individual at the same level along with class attendance. Certification is non-transferable between VARs unless full certification fee is paid. In addition to the certification track there is also specialized training available in particular topics which can be added-on to the certification already achieved. These specialized certification elements are required if technical support access is needed in these areas of the product. Classes required to support Certification aspirations are available in a number of locations across Europe, Middle East and Africa. If there is sufficient demand class can also be arranged at the VAR location. If you have questions you may contact your regional contacts at Lenel or UTC Fire and Security.
