EASY TO INSTALL LEVOLOR Shutters have a number of features that make installation a breeze even if you have never installed a shutter before! Our frames snap tightly together with the locking corner key. LEVOLOR Shutters unique 2-leaf hinge allows for panels to be installed (or removed for cleaning) easily by one person. Visit LEVOLOR.com/Shutters for easy to follow installation videos. MAINTENANCE FREE Our compound features a permanent finish that will never warp, shrink, chip, peel, crack or fade and never needs painting. Our smooth finish makes cleaning a snap with ordinary soap and water. CHILD SAFE DESIGN LEVOLOR Shutters are Best for Kids Certified, making them a safe option for homes with small children and pets. FIRE RETARDANT Polyresin 3 is fire retardant and self-extinguishing. It is safe to use in residential and commercial applications and meets (NFPA701) National Fire Code Standards. WATERPROOF DESIGN LEVOLOR Shutters will not warp or crack due to water exposure, and our tilt-bar is not attached with staples (unlike other brands) which can rust and break over time. They are ideal for use above kitchen sinks, bathrooms, or waterfront homes. LEVOLOR Shutters have been tested and certified for both GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality and GREENGUARD for Children and Schools. Visit www.greenguard.org for more information.

DESIGN OPTIONS LEVOLOR Shutters are offered in 3 neutral tones to match any décor. White is the most popular choice and offers a beautiful contrast to most paint colors, while Vanilla adds a more dramatic tone to the room. White Ivory Vanilla LEVOLOR Shutters are available in 2-1/2-in, 3-1/2-in, and 4-1/2-in louver sizes. The 2-1/2-in is the more traditional size, while the larger 3-1/2-in and 4-1/2-in louver sizes offer a more contemporary look and a greater view to the outside. Larger louvers will require more depth clearance in the window. 2-1/2-in Louver 3-1/2-in Louver 4-1/2-in Louver LEVOLOR Shutters are offered in three tilt options: Clear Tilt, Tilt Bar and Gear System. The Clear Tilt option has a hidden tilt bar on the back of the shutter. This allows for an unobstructed view and gives the shutters a more modern look. The Tilt Bar option has a centered tilt bar located on the front of the shutters, giving them a traditional look. The patented Gear System is an optional upgrade. The hidden gear operating system provides the same unobstructed view and modern look as the Clear Tilt, but allows for a smooth, superior closure. Clear Tilt Tilt Bar Gear System Review the sample book or visit www.levolor.com/shutters for frame and louver styles and additional design ideas.

MEASURE & DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS There are many options to consider when designing your shutter. The first is whether you will mount your shutters inside the window opening (inside mount) or outside the window opening (outside mount). The following factors will help you decide the perfect mounting option for your windows. 1. IDENTIFY YOUR WINDOW STYLE Window Opening With Molding, Without Sill Window Opening With Molding and Sill Window Opening Without Molding or Sill Window Opening Without Molding, With Sill BEST CHOICES Inside Mount: Z or L Frame Outside Mount: L Frame BEST CHOICES Inside Mount: Z or L Frame Outside Mount: L Frame BEST CHOICES Inside Mount: All frame styles Outside Mount: L Frame BEST CHOICES Inside Mount: All frame styles Outside Mount: L Frame If molding is flat, then all frame styles are suitable for inside mount. 2. CHOOSE YOUR FRAME STYLE L Frame Z Frame Bullnose Frame Trim Frame Décor Trim Frame Inside mount and Outside mount Inside mount Inside mount Inside mount Inside mount For more detailed information, visit www.levolor.com/shutters

3. CHOOSE YOUR CONFIGURATION FRAME CONFIGURATION 4-Sided with Sill 4-sided No Sill 3-sided + (3T) 4-Sided no sill: Chosen frame style will be on all 4 sides of opening. Recommended for most windows. 3-Sided (3T): Chosen frame style will be across the top and sides. For windows with a bottom sill where you do not want to drill a sill frame into the window sill. Will leave a light gap at the bottom of 3/8-in. 4-Sided with sill: Chosen frame style will be across the top and sides plus sill frame on bottom. Bottom Sill Frame Sill PANEL CONFIGURATION 1 Panel Can be hinged either left or right 2 Panels 3 Panels 4 Panels One panel hinged left & one panel hinged right. Can also be hinged (bi-fold) left or right. 2 bi-fold right and one left or 2 bi-fold left and 1 right. 2 bi-fold left and 2 bi-fold right. Note: All panels are delivered pre-hinged. Panel Configuration (without T-Post) 1 Panel 2 Panels 3 Panels 4 Panels P1-L P2-LR P3-LLR P4-LLRR P1-R P2-LL P3-LRR P2-RR 36-in wide maximun panel size for single panels. 48-in wide maximum panel size when 2 panels are bifolded. PANEL LOCK Panel locks are located at the top and bottom of a shutter panel. They are used to keep panels securely closed and can also be used to level the panel. Panel locks are standard for 4-sided frames and eliminates the need for magnets. For more detailed information, visit www.levolor.com/shutters

T-POST CONFIGURATION T-posts are vertical dividers that are installed where each window is separated from the next. They are used as a divider to hinge single or bi-fold panels when openings are too wide to hinge panels from the side. T-posts can be placed directly in front of any existing window divider. Always measure from the left side of the window to the center of the T-post for each T-post location. Chosen panel configuration is based on P#-XXX. P# being the number of panels and X being the hinged panel side, left (L) or Right (R), and T-post. Common configurations include P3-LTLTL (3 Panels- Left hinge, T-post, Left hinge, T-post, Left hinge) and P3-RTRTR (3 Panels- Right hinge, T-post, Right hinge, T-post, Right hinge). COMMON CONFIGURATIONS other options available. DEPTH CLEARANCE The final factor to consider when designing your shutter is depth clearance. Depth clearance is the minimum window depth required for shutters to operate without interfering with window parts. Measure from the front of any obstruction to the front edge of the window frame to determine depth. Window Frame Handle on Double Hung Window Crank Handle on Casement Window EXAMPLE: Clear Tilt Top View Window Wall Depth Clearance 2-in with Clear Tilt 3-1/2-in Louver Depth Clearance 1-1/2-in with Tilt Bar or Gear System Stile Trim Frame Minimum Depth Clearance by Frame (inches) Frame Type 2-1/2-in Louver Tilt Bar or Gear System 2-1/2-in Louver Clear Tilt 3-1/2-in Louver Tilt Bar or Gear System 3-1/2-in Louver Clear Tilt 4-1/2-in Louver Tilt Bar or Gear System 4-1/2-in Louver Clear Tilt Inside Mount (IM) with frame or panel with front of window Mounting Strip* 2-1/8 2-1/2 2-3/8 3 2-7/8 3-1/2 L Frame 2-1/8 2-1/2 2-3/8 3 3 3-1/2 Z Frame 1-1/4 1-5/8 1-5/8 2-1/8 2-1/8 2-5/8 Bullnose Frame 1-3/8 1-3/4 1-5/8 2-1/4 2-1/8 2-3/4 Trim Frame 1-1/8 1-1/2 1-1/2 2 2 2-1/2 Décor Trim Frame 1-1/8 1-1/2 1-1/2 2 2 2-1/2 Outside Mount (OM) L Frame 0 3/8 1/2 7/8 7/8 1-3/8 If your window does not meet minimum depth for outside mount, then frame extensions are available. Each frame extension will increase clearance by 1/2-in. The Gear system has the same depth clearance as the Tilt Bar application. *Used for inside mount without frames or as a light block mounted on the inside of panels. Will require magnetic closure. 3/4-in 1-in For more detailed information, visit www.levolor.com/shutters

ACHIEVING PANEL CONSISTENCY To achieve a uniform appearance, as well as maintain an equal number of louvers in adjacent shutters, all shutters must be ordered the same height. If the height measurements differ, apply one of the options below: 1. For inside mount order shutters the same height using the shorter window height measurement. With z frame, you may reduce taller shutters up to 1/2-in maximum. With trim frame, bullnose, or décor trim frame you may reduce taller shutters up to 5/8-in maximum. For height adjustments of more than 5/8-in, we recommend an outside mount. 2. For outside mount order shutters the same height using taller window height measurement. Panel consistency is easier to attain with framed shutters, Height adjustments to achieve consistency are not recommended for mounting strip applications. LOCATING DIVIDER RAILS There is no extra charge for divider rails. Divider rails are required for shutter panels over 66-inches in height. Two divider rails are required for shutters over 90-inches in height. Divider rails separate the top louvers from the bottom louvers. This allows the bottom half of shutters to be fully closed for privacy, while allowing the upper half to be open. You can request the approximate height of the divider rail placement. For example, it may be necessary to match an existing window divider. Simply supply the measurements from the bottom of shutter to the center of the divider rail location. It is important to note that the exact location may vary from the height you request. Location of divider rails may vary up or down by 1-1/2-in. Top Operating Louvers Bottom Operating Louvers Divider Rails *Outside Mount Distance-Up is distance from bottom of shutter frame to center of where you would like divider rail. *Inside Mount Distance-Up is distance from top of sill to center of where you would like divider rail. For more detailed information, visit www.levolor.com/shutters

HOW TO MEASURE 1. Use a durable steel tape measure (do not use a cloth tape). 2. Measure all windows separately, no matter how similar they look. MOUNTING SHUTTERS INSIDE A WINDOW OPENING (WITH OR WITHOUT MOLDING) 3. Measure the inside of the window opening, not the glass. 4. Measure window width in 3 places. Record the narrowest measurement and round down to the nearest 1/8-in. 5. Measure window height in 3 places. Record the shortest measurement and round down to the nearest 1/8-in. 6. Do not make any deductions, allowances or additions. 7. Check for squareness by measuring on diagonals Note: If diagonals are not the same, (less than 1/2-in difference) and the window does not have a molding, a décor trim frame is suggested to allow for easier installation. If diagonal measurement differs by more than 1/2-in, choose outside mount. MOUNTING SHUTTERS OUTSIDE A WINDOW OPENING (WINDOW WITHOUT MOLDING L FRAME ONLY) 3. Measure the inside of the window opening, not the glass 4. Measure the window width in 3 places. Record the widest measurement. Round up to the nearest 1/8-in. 5. Measure the window height in 3 places. Record the longest measurement. Round up to the nearest 1/8-in. 6. It is necessary to have 1-5/8-in additional space on all sides of the opening to mount frames. We will add necessary adjustments to your window measurements so that shutter will mount directly around window. If you desire your shutter to be a specific width or height, order as exact outside mount finished size. MOUNTING SHUTTERS OUTSIDE A WINDOW OPENING (ON EXISTING MOLDING L FRAME ONLY) 3. Measure the width to the outer edges of the molding in three places (your molding is part of the measurement). Record the widest measurement rounding up to the nearest 1/8-in. 4. Measure the height to the outer edges of the molding in 3 places (your molding is part of the measurement). If you have a sill, measure from the top of the sill to the top of the molding. Record the longest measurement rounding up to the nearest 1/8-in. 5. Do not take any deductions, allowances or additions. Special MUST Requirements: Molding must be at least 1-1/4-in wide, and have at least 3/4-in flat surface. If your molding does not meet the above specifications, you must hang your shutters onto the wall, beyond and around the molding. SHUTTERS INSTALLED ON WALL AROUND WINDOWS WITH MOLDING (L FRAME ONLY) Recommend professional measure and installation. For more detailed information, visit www.levolor.com/shutters

French Door with Cutout White Clear Tilt 3-1/2-in louvers 4-sided Outside Mount L Frame

HOW TO MEASURE FRENCH DOOR WITH CUTOUT OUTSIDE MOUNT 4-SIDED FRAME ON TOP OR AROUND THE MOLDING MEASURE WIDTH 4-sided L frame is used for French Door application. Depth clearance and obstructions can prevent louvers from operating properly. In order to overcome these obstacles, we will add the necessary number of L frame extensions. Up to (3) 1/2-in extensions can be added to the L Frame. MEASURE OUTSIDE WIDTH (A) If mounting on top of molding, then measure outside edge of molding to outside edge of molding in three places (top, middle, and bottom). Molding should be a minimum of 1-3/8-in so that it is wider than the shutter frame. Record the largest measurements to 1/8-in not for use on a curved profile molding. If mounting around the molding, then measure the outside width of the molding. Round to the nearest 1/8-in. MEASURE OUTSIDE HEIGHT (B) If mounting on top of molding, then measure outside of molding to outside of molding in three places (top, middle, and bottom). Molding should be a minimum of 1-3/8-in so that it is wider than the shutter frame. Record the largest measurements to 1/8-in. If mounting around the molding, then measure the outside width of the molding. Round to the nearest 1/8-in. CUTOUT HEIGHT (C or D) Measure from the bottom of the molding to the middle of the desired cutout location. The cutout can be centered on the door handle ( C ) or centered between the door handle and the deadbolt ( D ). An optional divider rail may be ordered. The divider rail will be positioned on center of the cutout. B C A D MEASURE DEPTH OF MOLDING Measure the depth or projection of the molding that protrudes from the door, and note on the order form. Note: Shutter height may be ordered longer than molding to molding measurements. This allows the shutter to be moved up or down in order to center the cutout as needed. FRENCH DOOR WITH CUTOUT PANEL CONFIGURATIONS P1FD-L P1FD-R 2-1/2-in Louver 3-1/2-in Louver 4-1/2-in Louver Left Right Minimum Width 18-in 18-in 18-in Maximum Width 36-in 36-in 36-in Minimum Height 36-in 38-in 40-in Maximum Height 96-in 96-in 96-in Maximum Square ft. 15 sq ft 15 sq ft 15 sq ft Minimum Cutout Height 17-3/4-in 18-3/4-in 19-3/4- in 4-sided L frame only. Two- Panel By-Pass Track System Vanilla 3-1/2-in louvers Clear Tilt 5-in Crown Valance

HOW TO MEASURE BY-PASS Inside mount must have a minimum jamb depth of 2-in. Outside mount standard by-pass will project 6-5/8-in from the wall. SHUTTER LOUVERS CANNOT OPEN WHEN PANELS ARE STACKED IN FRONT OF ONE ANOTHER. B A A B B MOUNTING INSIDE A WINDOW OPENING Measure inside the window opening in 3 places for A & B. Record the smallest measurement and round down to the nearest 1/8-in. Do not make any deductions, allowances, or additions. Check for squareness by measuring diagonals. A SQUARENESS CHECK Measure diagonals If not the same then inside mount is not recommended. INSIDE MEASUREMENTS SQUARENESS CHECK MOUNTING OUTSIDE A WINDOW OPENING Measure outside the window opening in 3 places for A & B and record the largest measurement. You will need 2-1/4-in above the window and on each side to mount the frame. To cover an area larger than the window opening simply provide the desired finished width (up to 180-in) and height (up to ). ONLY IF DIVIDER RAIL IS BEING USED The measurement recorded is determined from the bottom of the floor or sill to the middle of where the divider rail is to be located. One divider rail is required for panels over 66-in with a maximum 50-in between the middle of the divider rail and either top or bottom rail. Two divider rails are required for panels over 90-inches in height with a maximum 50-in between any two rails. CHOICE OF PANEL CONFIGURATION Determine from next page. ORDER VALANCE Choose between the 3-1/2-in standard valance or 5-in crown valance and select the appropriate valance returns on the By-Pass Track System Order Form.
