OPTIONAL COMPONENTS Method of operation The following diagram illustrates the method of operation of the air dehumidifier: Fig. 4: Series AD 420 /430 air dehumidifier functional diagram 1 Moist indoor air 5 Dry air 2 Evaporator 6 Compressor 3 Condenser 7 Water collecting tank 4 Fan The air dehumidifier works on the principle of condensation with heat recovery. The fan (Fig. 4, item 4) draws the moist air in through a cooling coil (evaporator) (Fig. 4, item 2). In the cooling coil the air is cooled so far below the dew point that the water steam of the air condenses and flows into the outlet or pump kit (option). The cooled and dried air is re-heated at the condenser (Fig. 4, item 3). Due to the heat pump effect the output air is a few degrees warmer than the room air drawn in. The resulting energy gain can reach 3 times the electrical energy consumption. Page 11 of 32

TRANSPORT AND INSTALLATION Operating conditions Series AD 420 / 430 air dehumidifiers are intended for mobile or stationary use in closed rooms, on building sites, in water works, indoor swimming pools, garages and storage rooms. The series AD 420 / 430 air dehumidifiers work without problems in the temperature range from +3 C to +32 C and the humidity range from 40% to 95% relative humidity. Using the appliance in rooms with higher temperatures will cause damage to the compressor. Using the appliance in rooms with lower temperatures is inefficient and can result in icing. Storage of the air dehumidifier at impermissible temperature conditions can result in damage / problems in case of immediate switching-on. Therefore allow the air dehumidifier to adjust to the temperature before switching it on. The suitable location for the air dehumidifier features: 230 V / 50 Hz power outlet Flat ground Free space of 1 metre minimum in front of the air outlet lamellae and air filter, better more! Air must constantly flow unimpeded through the ventilation port next to the operating panel. Select the location in a way to ensure optimum circulation of the dehumidifier air in your room. The air dehumidifier must be installed on a flat ground. By using a condensation dryer humidity values of 40 45% r. h. minimum can be reached. If lower values are required an adsorption dryer must be used. Contact your technical advisor. In case of doubts about the operating conditions your technical advisor can help you. Page 15 of 32

TRANSPORT AND INSTALLATION Electrical connection DANGER Danger to life due to electric shock Prior to commissioning the technical data of the air dehumidifier must be compared with the conditions prevailing in the room of installation! The following items must be checked prior to electrical connection of the air dehumidifier: Is the mains voltage in conformity with the voltage of the air dehumidifier? Are socket and supply system sufficiently fused? Has an RCCB been installed? Is the appliance coupler suitable for the building socket outlet? Is the socket outlet used grounded properly? 1. Connect the mains plug of the power cable with the socket outlet. Page 16 of 32

TRANSPORT AND INSTALLATION Connect condensate drain hose CAUTION Material damage / insufficient performance due to improper connection of condensate drain hose Handle water collecting tank and condensate drain pipe with care. In case of use without water collecting tank: The rear hose end must be in a lower position than the front hose end (drain pipe): minimum slope 5%, i. e. 5 cm / metre. Do not immerse the hose end in water (water back-up may occur). Never bend the hose. Do not place any objects on the hose. Check regularly whether condensate is properly discharged. 1. Remove the water collecting tank from the rocker. 2. Attach the condensate drain hose to the condensate drain pipe (Fig. 2, item 3) and fix it with a hose clamp. 3. Lay the hose with a slope (min. 5%, i.e. 5 cm / per metre) from the air dehumidifier to an outlet. If the air dehumidifier is installed on a wall bracket or in any other elevated position, the hose can also be directed down through the hole in the rocker. Page 17 of 32

TRANSPORT AND INSTALLATION Connecting the pump-out kit CAUTION Damage to appliance due to improper installation Never push the pump-out kit into the air dehumidifier using power / force. Never tighten turn locks using power / force. 1. Remove the water collecting tank from the air dehumidifier. In the water tank compartment you will find a plug socket with an AMP dummy plug inserted (Fig. 2, item 5). 2. Remove this AMP dummy plug from the socket and keep it in a safe place. It is required for operating the air dehumidifier without pump-out kit! 3. Connect the AMP plug of the pump-out kit to the socket in the dehumidifier. 4. Ensure that the turn lock has been turned fully to the left (horizontal position). The bottom rabbet of the pump-out kit rear wall must engage in the bottom edge of the water tank compartment. 5. Put the pump-out kit into the water tank compartment. The pump-out kit can be positioned in the water tank compartment without effort in such a way that the rear panel is flush with the casing. 6. Turn the turn lock clockwise until the pump-out kit is firmly mounted in the water tank compartment. The turn lock must turn easily, otherwise the pump-out kit is not in its correct position! 7. Connect a drain hose to the drain pipe and lay it from the air dehumidifier to an outlet or to the outside. The air dehumidifier is ready for operation with the pump function. The pump used is designed for a maximum height difference of 4 metres. Page 18 of 32

TRANSPORT AND INSTALLATION The rear wall of the pump-out kit is provided with a button (Fig. 3, item 5). This button is used to empty the pump manually, for example before transport of the air dehumidifier. We recommend to empty the pump whenever the air dehumidifier is to be transported, because otherwise water may flow out when the device is tilted. To remove the pump-out kit please proceed in reverse order. Do not forget to re-insert the AMP dummy plug into the socket, because otherwise the air dehumidifier will not work. Page 19 of 32

OPERATION AND OPERATOR CONTROL 6 Operation and operator control CAUTION Danger of injury and damage to appliance Inadmissible ambient conditions or improper operation of the air dehumidifier may constitute a risk. 24 OPERATION AND OPERATOR CONTROL Hygrostat control Fig. 6: Series AD420 / 430 hygrostat The hygrostat controller of the air dehumidifier can be used to set the desired humidity value. The hygrostat is arranged clearly visible in the operating panel. Continuous adjustment of the hygrostat allows for easy humidity control. Hygrostat: Hygrostat position Position 0 Position I Position 80% - 100% Position 60% - 80% Position 40% - 60% Position 20% - 40% Significance, air dehumidifier response Air dehumidifier ready for operation, Air dehumidifier running in continuous mode The air dehumidifier will switch off at a relative humidity of about 80% - 95% and switch on again when a humidity of 80% - 95% is exceeded. The air dehumidifier will switch off at a relative humidity of about 60% - 80% and switch on again when a humidity of 60% - 80% is exceeded. The air dehumidifier will switch off at a relative humidity of about 40% - 60% and switch on again when a humidity of 40% - 60% is exceeded. The air dehumidifier will switch off at a relative humidity of about 20% - 40% and switch on again when a humidity of 20% - 40% is exceeded. If very precise setting values are required, use a hygrometer with a precise humidity display to set the hygrostat. Page 21 of 32

OPERATION AND OPERATOR CONTROL Commissioning The air dehumidifier must have been properly installed and connected (refer to chapter 5, from page 12) before it can be commissioned. Before commissioning the air dehumidifier allow it to rest in its final position for about 15 minutes after transport. During this time, the oil distributed in the cooling system and churned up by transport will flow back to the compressor. This procedure will extend the service life of the compressor. 1. Connect the hot condition coupler of the power cable included in the delivery to the socket on the air dehumidifier. 2. Connect the power cable to the power outlet. 3. Ensure that the water tank is installed in the air dehumidifier or a drain hose (option) has been properly fitted and laid to a collecting vessel or an outlet. 4. Turn the hygrostat to position "I and switch the air dehumidifier on via the "On / Off switch" (Fig. 5, item 1). If the air dehumidifier has been correctly connected and the existing humidity is higher than the set humidity value the air dehumidifier will start to work. Operator control 1. Select the desired humidity on the hygrostat (Fig. 6) and switch the air dehumidifier on via the On / Off switch (Fig. 5, item 1). If the existing humidity is higher than the set value the air dehumidifier will start to work. If the existing humidity is lower than the set value the air dehumidifier will not start to work. The On / Off switch lights when the air dehumidifier is switched on. The fan can be operated at two speeds (Fig. 5, item 5). During operation condensate is produced. This condensate can either be fed directly to an outlet via the condensate drain hose or collected in the water tank. When the water tank is full, it will actuate the rocker by its weight and the air dehumidifier will switch off. The pilot lamp (Fig. 5, item 2) will light up. 2. Switch the On / Off switch on the air dehumidifier off and empty the water tank. After re-inserting the water tank into the air dehumidifier switch the air dehumidifier on again. Page 22 of 32

OPERATION AND OPERATOR CONTROL Automatic defrosting: During dehumidification ice may build up on the evaporator. The volume of ice depends on the ambient conditions in the room to be dehumidified. The series AD 420 / 430 air dehumidifiers are equipped with an automatic hotgas defrosting system. Depending on the extent of ice build-up, the air dehumidifiers will automatically be defrosted on demand according to the following principle: A temperature sensor monitors the status in a critical area of the evaporator. It transmits the defrost signal to the DryLogic electronics which will determine the defrosting demand and automatically start the defrost cycle. During the defrost cycle the compressor continues to run whereas the fan is stationary. After defrosting the air dehumidifier resumes work in the standard dehumidification mode. For living space, climate conditions of C and 50 60% r. h. are recommended. For quick building drying the hygrostat is set to continuous operation (item I). For drying and keeping rooms with wood furnishing (e.g. parquet flooring) or paintings, antiques etc. dry, a minimum moisture of 55 60% must be observed. In case of doubt please contact your technical advisor. Page 23 of 32

MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE 7 Maintenance and service WARNING Danger of injury by electric shock and risk of material damage Always observe the general safety instructions when performing any maintenance and service work! Switch the air dehumidifier off and pull the power plug before cleaning and inspection. Inspection and any work inside the air dehumidifier may only be carried out by trained expert staff. 29 TROUBLESHOOTING 8 Troubleshooting If problems arise with the dehumidifier please check the following points. Should the fault not be located please contact your technical advisor. WARNING Danger of injury by electric shock and risk of material damage The air dehumidifier may only be repaired by trained specialised staff. Within the warranty period, any work on the dehumidifier shall only be carried out by the manufacturer or persons commissioned by the manufacturer. Any work carried out by unauthorised persons shall lead to the forfeiture of all warranty claims! Problem Possible cause Remedy Air dehumidifier shows poor or no humidification performance. The ambient humidity is lower than 40% r. h. or the ambient temperature is less than +3 C. Under these conditions operation of the air dehumidifier is uneconomical. The air filter is severely soiled. The air flow is insufficient. In the long run, soiled filters can cause damage to the air dehumidifier. Compressor and/or fan motor are/is defective. Switch the air dehumidifier off. Tip: set the hygrostat to an achievable value (e.g. to about 50% r. h.) to ensure that the dehumidifier will switch off in time in respect of the ambient humidity. Clean or, if required, replace the filter. Tip: perform maintenance as described in chapter 7 at regular intervals! Use only original AERIAL air filters. Entrust a specialised company with the repair of the air dehumidifier. Page 26 of 32

TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Possible cause Remedy The fan of the air dehumidifier is out of operation, the compressor is working. The air dehumidifier is in defrost mode. The compressor continues to run, not, however, the fan. After a few minutes, the fan will automatically start again. The air dehumidifier is out of operation / Fan and compressor are not working. Air dehumidifier switched off. Air dehumidifier without power supply. Water collecting tank is full, the pilot lamp (Fig. 5, item 2) is on. The humidity set on the hygrostat has been reached. The dummy plug has not been fitted or the pumpout kit is not properly connected. Switch the air dehumidifier on. Have the power cable, the plug connection, any extension cable used, the plug socket and the building fusing checked by an expert. Connect the power cable, if necessary. Empty the water collecting tank and re-insert it into the air dehumidifier. The air dehumidifier will automatically re-start when the set humidity is exceeded. Check the AMP connection. Page 27 of 32

TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Possible cause Remedy Severe icing of cooling coil (evaporator). An ice block builds up. The humidity set on the hygrostat is not achieved or the air dehumidifier does not automatically switch off. Wrong ambient conditions or air dehumidifier defective. Hygrostat set to a value < 45% r. h. The air dehumidifier is not sufficiently dimensioned for the application. There is a lot of humidity in the walls, the floor etc. Place the air dehumidifier in a room with a minimum room temperature of +10 C and wait until the ice has defrosted. Switch the air dehumidifier on and let it run for about 3 hours. Should a new ice block build up, please contact your specialised dealer. Make sure to operate the air dehumidifier in rooms with a minimum temperature of +3 C. Problems may arise of the dehumidifier is immediately switched on after storage in colder environments. Depending on the ambient conditions your air dehumidifier can reach a minimum value of 40 45% r. h. Set the hygrostat to an achievable value (e.g. to about 50% r. h.) to ensure that the air dehumidifier will switch off in time. Room temperature, air exchange rate and open water surfaces, if any, are decisive for the humidity load of the room. Ask your specialised dealer to calculate the capacity required for your application. In this case the air dehumidifier will need some time to remove the water and achieve an acceptable value in the room. Page 28 of 32

SHUTDOWN, STORAGE AND DISPOSAL 9 Shutdown, storage and disposal Shutdown If you do not need the air dehumidifier for a longer period of time you can shut it down for some timeto do so proceed as follows: 1. Switch the air dehumidifier off via the On / Off switch (Fig. 5, item 1). 2. Pull the power plug. 3. If necessary, cover the air dehumidifier with a cloth to protect it from dust. Storage To store a single air dehumidifier we recommend to proceed as follows: 1. Package the air dehumidifier using cardboard. 2. Store the air dehumidifier in conformity with the specified operating conditions (refer to page 15). The series AD 420 / 430 air dehumidifier can be stacked for storage. CAUTION Danger of injury Never stack more than two air dehumidifiers. Always secure the air dehumidifiers against tipping. CAUTION Material damage due to wrong handling of carrying handle Do not apply force. In case of correct handling the carrying handle can be moved without effort. Page 29 of 32

SHUTDOWN, STORAGE AND DISPOSAL Fig. 7: Air dehumidifiers stacked For space-saving storage of several air dehumidifiers we recommend to proceed as follows: 1. Turn the carrying handle down to the side with the lamellae. The carrying handle is long enough to leave the top side completely free. This allows storage of another air dehumidifier of this type stacked on top of the lower unit. Disposal Please do not dispose of this air dehumidifier with the domestic waste, nor in the countryside. We dispose of this AERIAL air dehumidifier for you, free of charge and environmentally friendly. Please contact us. Alternatively, your local disposal company will dispose of the dehumidifier in an environmentally friendly manner. Page 30 of 32
