USING THIS INSTRUCTION MANUAL This publication provides a description of the American Products Telecom Mini-Fort Outdoor equipment enclosure.

4 USING THIS INSTRUCTION MANUAL This publication provides a description of the American Products Telecom Mini-Fort Outdoor equipment enclosure. Typical applications, mechanical descriptions, installation instructions, safety guidelines, grounding instructions and wiring diagrams are included. Two types of messages appear throughout this manual, identified by the following icons: NOTE A NOTE indicates special conditions. CAUTION The use of CAUTION indicates possibility of personal injury or equipment damage. INSPECTING SHIPMENT On receipt of the equipment: - Inspect the shipping container(s) and note any signs of damage. Then unpack the container(s) and carefully inspect for damage to the contents. If the equipment has been damaged in transit, immediately report the extent of the damage to the transportation company and to American Products. Order replacement equipment if necessary. - Check the packing list to ensure complete and accurate shipment of all listed items. If the shipment is short or irregular, contact American Products as described in the warranty (Appendix C, Terms and Conditions). If the equipment must be stored for a prolonged period, do so in the equipment s original container. If equipment ever needs to be returned, please use the original packaging if available. Page 4

5 PUBLICATION This manual provides specifications and installation instructions for the Mini-Fort Outdoor Equipment Cabinet. PRODUCT OVERVIEW The cabinet is constructed of Aluminum\Galvanized or Stainless Steel with optional powder coat painted finish for reduced weight and superior corrosion resistance. The front door is equipped with two quarter-turn latches. The equipment-mounting bay has a 9RU to 24RU of vertical 19 or 23 rack space in the front of the equipment bay. The 19 or 23 rack is also adjustable from front to rear. Two door options are also available for equipment accessibility. The cabinet utilizes stainless steel hardware, UL recognized EPDM edge gasketing (temp range of -40F to +212 F. When installing cabling or equipment that enters the cabinet, Type 3R entrances, fittings or equipment is to be used to maintain the integrity of the enclosure No live equipment or components are to be installed below the lowest RU rack mounting provision or on the floor of the enclosure The Cabinet is designed to allow various accessories to be mounted on the enclosure to meet customer requirements. 10 INSTALLATION The Mini-Fort Series cabinet should be mounted on a concrete pad. See the figure below for pad mounting hole patterns. NOTE: During cabinet mounting, fixture the cabinet securely to avoid personal injury or cabinet damage. Page 10

11 CAUTION WHENEVER MANUVERING AND POSITIONING THE MINI-FORT ENCLOSURE FOR MOUNTING IN ANY APPLICATION, PLEASE PRACTICE PROPER LIFTING METHODS TO AVOID PERSONEL INJURY. Page 11

12 CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS When selecting a location to mount the cabinet, ensure that proper clearance is available to allow the cabinet door to open fully. See Figure below for top view of cabinet footprint. Figure I - Cabinet Footprint Page 12

13 CABINET GROUNDING INFORMATION Bonding and grounding should be done in accordance with industry standard procedures and comply with local electrical codes. The main cabinet ground bar is located in the front of the cabinet as shown in Figure J. Figure J - Grounding Diagram Page 13

FAN VENTILATION SYSTEM (OPTIONAL) The Mini-Fort Enclosure can be equipped with a fan ventilation system and thermostat control. The cabinet has two filters.

14 FAN VENTILATION SYSTEM (OPTIONAL) The Mini-Fort Enclosure can be equipped with a fan ventilation system and thermostat control. The cabinet has two filters. The inlet filters are on the inside of the cabinet. To replace the filter remove the four nuts that secure the filter frame, remove old filter media and replace with new media and reinstall the filter frame. The outlet filter, which primarily protects the cabinet from dust and debris flowing to the cabinet when the fan is not active, is located between the fan panel and the exterior louvers on the cabinet. The fan forces air out of the top exterior louvers. This action draws outside air into the cabinet through the bottom set of filtered louvers on the exterior of the cabinet. Should the product be proven to be defective, American Products will have the option to repair or replace the product. Items included with the enclosures, not manufactured by American Products will utilize the original manufacturer s warranty. It is the responsibility of the buyer to communicate any special environmental concerns in which the enclosures will be utilized. Special materials may be required to allow for proper corrosion resistance for harsh environments. The warranty does not cover enclosures used in applications and environments for which they were not designed. Warranty does not cover abuse, modifications by others or reimbursement for unauthorized rework. Return Policy Please contact your sales representative for any product return questions. American Products must authorize all returns and will provide customer with a return merchandise authorization number (RMA) for authorized returns. Non-warranty returns for standard products will be assessed a 20% restocking charge if product is in new condition. Enclosures that have been modified in any manner may not be returnable. Custom designed enclosures are not returnable or refundable. Freight for authorized returns will be returned to the factory freight pre-paid.
