1 GB A.1 GENERAL INFORMATION A.1.1 FOREWORD This manual provides all the information necessary for correct installation of the appliance. Therefore the manual and all the technical documentation supplied must always be kept with with the appliance for possible consultation by technicians or users. It is important to inform the appliance user regarding the regulations on safety during and after installation. Carefully read the instructions in this manual before carrying out any operation, as they provide important information regarding the regulations on installation and safe use of the appliance. Incorrect installation, adjustment, alterations, assistance or maintenance can cause damage to property, injury or risk of death. The manufacturer declines any liability for operations carried out on the equipment without following the instructions given in the manual. The use of non-original parts relieves the manufacturer of all liability and invalidates any warranty. No part of this of this manual may be reproduced. A.1.2 INTENDED USE AND LIMITATIONS This appliance is designed for the refrigeration and preservation of foods. Any other use is to be considered improper. IMPORTANT: the appliances are not suitable for installation outdoors and/or in places exposed to atmospheric agents (rain, direct sunlight, etc.). The manufacturer declines all liability for improper use of the products. A.1.3 TESTING Our appliances have been designed and optimized with laboratory testing to obtain high performance and efficiency. The product is shipped ready for use. Passing of the tests (visual inspection - electrical test - functional test) is guaranteed and certified by means of the specified enclosures (par. D.4). A.1.4 GENERAL SAFETY RULES This equipment complies with European low-voltage directives 2006/95/EEC, electrical systems according to Standard EN , EN and electromagnetic compatibility (89/336/+92/31CEE) according to Standards EN ; EN ; EN Validity according to the latest current regulations. A.1.5 CUSTOMER S RESPONSIBILITIES The customer must provide an earthed power supply socket of suitable capacity for the absorption specified on the dataplate, and a high sensitivity differential thermal cut-out switch with manual reset. A.1.6 DATAPLATE POSITION The dataplate giving all the appliance specifications is located on the right side in the unit compartment. The plate giving the PNC code and serial number of the appliance is located below the logo. A.2 TECHNICAL DATA A.2.1 MATERIALS AND FLUIDS USED Areas in contact with the product are manufactured in steel or coated with non-toxic plastic material. An HFC refrigerant, in compliance with current legal regulations, is used in the refrigerating units. The type of refrigerant gas used is given on the dataplate. 3 B.1. INSTALLATION WEAR SUITABLE PROTECTION EQUIPMENT (PROTECTIVE GLOVES) WHEN CARRYING OUT INSTALLATION OPERATIONS. Strictly follow the instructions given below in this section in order to ensure that the appliance works properly and in constant user safety conditions. B.1.1 CHECKS TO BE MADE ON RECEIVING THE APPLIANCE The appliance is delivered in protective packing. Check the state of the packing and any protective materials before unpacking. Any damage should be reported immediately to the carrier. Under no circumstances should a damaged appliance be returned to the manufacturer without prior notice and written authorization. CAUTION: the operations described below must be carried out in compliance with current safety regulations, regarding the equipment used and the operating procedures. IMPORTANT: before handling the appliance, make sure that the lifting capacity of the equipment used is suitable for the weight of the appliance (the weight of the appliance is given in par. A2.2.). B.1.2 REMOVING THE PACKING B Removing the packing and handling Make sure to wear protection gloves when unpacking the appliance. Remove the protective film, taking care not to scratch the surface if scissors or blades are used. Then, remove the polystyrene padding. For appliances with stainless steel cabinets, peel off the protective film very slowly, without tearing it, to avoid leaving glue stuck to the surface. A fork-lift truck must be used to lift the appliance, inserting the forks under the pallet and carrying it to the place of installation, making sure that the load is balanced. CAUTION: Do not push or pull the appliance to move it, as it may tip over. B Disposing of the packing Packing materials must be disposed of according to current regulations in the country where the appliance is used. Recyclable plastic parts are marked as follows: PE PP PS polyethylene: outer wrapping, bag instructions polypropylene: straps polystyrene foam: corner pads pressed board: corner pads B.1.3 POSITIONING Install the appliance, taking all the safety precautions required for this type of operation, also respecting the relevant fireprevention instructions. Place the appliance in a well-ventilated place, away from heat sources such as radiators or air-conditioning systems, in order to allow correct cooling of the refrigerating unit components. Never cover the condenser, not even temporarily, as this may jeopardise its proper operation and therefore that of the appliance. 21 If the appliance is installed in rooms where there are corrosive substances (chlorine, etc.), it is advisable to go over all the stainless steel surfaces with a rag soaked in vaseline oil in order to form a protective film. The room temperature must not exceed +43 C, in order to maintain the required inside temperatures. Adjust the height and level by operating the adjustable feet and at the same time check that the doors and drawers close properly. N.B.: the power plug must be accessible even after the appliance is installed in its place. IMPORTANT: For versions with remote unit, connect the appliance to the defrost water drain system (kits with automatic condensate evaporation are available). B.1.4 POSITIONING MODELS FOR USE WITH REMOTE UNITS Place the condenser unit in a well-ventilated room well away from heat sources. If the remote unit is to be installed outdoors, it must be protected against atmospheric agents by means of a cover, which must not impair correct ventilation of the condenser unit. The pipe sections must comply with the specifications given in the technical data tables (for recommended units). Lay the copper piping, choosing the shortest path and avoiding bends, elbows and vertical sections as much as possible, keeping to the following: - in horizontal sections, the intake line must slope down to the condenser unit at a gradient of not less than 2%. - traps must be installed before all upward sections of the intake line. - insulate the intake line with suitable lagging. - it is advisable to install the remote unit at a distance of no more than 15 m. from the appliance, with a maximum height difference between unit and appliance of 5 m. Install the following devices on the delivery line, in the follow ing order: a filter, a suitably sized dehydration device, a liq uid flow indicator and a solenoid valve. B.1.5 ELECTRICAL CONNECTION The appliance works on a 230V 50Hz. single-phase voltage power supply. Connection to the electrical mains must be done in accordance with current regulations. For connection insert the power cable plug in the correspondiing socket of the electrical system, making sure that: - The plug has an efficient earth connection and the mains voltage and frequency correspond to that given on the dataplate. In case of doubt regarding the efficiency of the earth connection have the circuit checked by a qualified technician. - The appliance must be connected to the mains with a perma nent connection. - In order to protect the appliance from possible overloads or short-circuits, a thermal magnetic circuit-breaker of adequate capacity must be installed between the power supply cable and the electric line, with a contact opening distance of at least 3 mm. - After making the connection and with the appliance running, check that the rated voltage level does not fluctuate by ± 10%. Note: In models arranged for operation with remote units, make the electrical connection to the condenser unit and solenoid valve as shown in the wiring diagram attached to the appliance. The connection must be made with cable of suitable section. The manufacturer accepts no liability for any damage or injury resulting from breach of the above rules or the current electrical safety standards in the country where the appliance is used. B.1.6 PUTTING THE LINES UNDER VACUUM AND CHARGING WITH REFRIGERANT GAS - for installation with refrigerating unit B Leakage test - Wash out the intake and delivery pipes with pressurized dry nitrogen.

4 - Connect a nitrogen cylinder to the high and low pressure con nectors, and connect to a pressure gauge (using a T union). Charge the high and low pressure lines with gas until reaching a pressure of approx. 15 bar. Shut off the cylinder cock and, after at least an hour, check that the pressure has not dropped to below the previous reading level. B Vacuum - Empty the circuit manually by opening the cocks of the connectors. - Connect the pipes to a vacuum pump, preferably a two-stage model with a vacuum gauge and high and low pressure connec tors. Reach a vacuum level equal to or lower than 70mTorr ( mbar). On reaching this level, maintain for about 15 minutes and then proceed with charging the unit as follows: B Charging with refrigerant - Charge the high and low pressure lines with liquid refrigerant for R404a until the pressure between the cylinders and the circuit is balanced (The initial charge of fluid is about 20 to 30% of the total charge). - At this point, shut off the high pressure line, start up the com pressor and charge with gas slowly until the bubbles in the liquid indicator disappear. Caution: charging with refrigerant must be done by professionally qualified personnel. B.1.7 Checks to be made when starting up the appliance Use the liquid flow indicator to check that the circuit is sufficiently charged. Otherwise, complete charging following the instructions in B Using a digital thermometer, check that the temperature reading on the control panel matches the thermometer reading. IMPORTANT: THE DOORS ARE NOT REVERSIBLE. C.1 REFRIGERATED MODELS CONTROL PANEL C.1.1 CONTROL PANEL (see Fig.1) C.1.2 DIGITAL THERMOSTAT DISPLAY The digital thermostat has a 3-digit electronic display for showing the temperature measured by the sensor, and six ICONS (see fig.1 and par. C.1.5). C.1.3 BUTTONS The digital thermostat has 4 buttons for control and programming the instrument. - Multifunction ON/OFF and UP button for switching the appliance on or off and increasing the values. - DOWN and DEFROST button for activating manual defrost and decreasing the values. - Prg/mute button for silencing the alarm buzzer. - SET button for accessing the Setpoint. C.1.4 SWITCHING ON AND TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT When switched on, the instrument carries out a Lamp Test, i.e. for a few seconds the display and Icons flash, verifying its correct functioning. If the instrument displays the compartment temperature when switched on, the appliance is already on. If OFF is displayed, press the ON/OFF button for a few seconds to activate the appliance display shows ON and then the compartment temperature value. To switch off the appliance, press the ON/OFF button for a few seconds display. the message OFF appears on the To adjust the SET compartment temperature, proceed as follows: -Press the button for a few seconds and the SET POINT value appears on the display. -To change the SET value, press the UP increase value button or the DOWN decrease value button. If no button is pressed for more than 15 seconds ( TIME OUT ) or pressing the SET key once, the digital thermostat memorizes the last set value and the normal display is restored. The temperature range is set from a minimum to a maximum, according to the following values: Maximum Pos. = - 2 C Minimum Pos. = + 10 C Maximum Pos. = - 15 C Minimum Pos. = - 20 C C.1.5 DIGITAL THERMOSTAT ICONS The digital thermostat has 5 ICONS: - Icon lit up indicates activation of compressor. - Icon lit up indicates manual defrost in progress. - Icon lit up indicates activation of compartment fans (if present). - Icon aux lit up indicates activation of auxiliary users (if present). - Icon indicates that a temperature alarm has occurred during appliance operation. - Icon indicates that a service alarm has occurred during appliance operation. C.1.6 ALARMS AND SIGNALLING C Service alarms and signalling for models 0 C/+10 C The alarm is signalled by the Icon lighting up the alarm signalling is also indicated by the alarm code appearing on the display. For example: alarm signalling due to a faulty sensor (compartment sensor) appears directly on the instrument display with the indication E0 and re flashing alternately (refer to position 1 of the alarms table). 22

5 The alarm goes off when the alarm condition ceases. Otherwise contact Technical Assistance. C Service alarms and signalling for models -15 C/-22 C and -2 C/+10 C The alarm is signalled by the Icon lighting up alarm signalling is also indicated by the alarm code appearing on the display. For example: alarm signalling due to a faulty sensor (compartment sensor) appears directly on the instrument display with the indication E0 and re flashing alternately (refer to position 1 of the alarms table). Alarm signalling due to a faulty evaporator sensor (evaporator sensor) appears directly on the instrument display with the indication E1 flashing (refer to position 2 of the alarms table). C Temperature alarms and signalling (common to all appliances) The alarm is signalled by the Icon lighting up alarm signalling is also indicated by the alarm code appearing on the display. Temperature alarm signalling, regarding the thermostatting sensor, appears directly on the instrument display with the indication HI (max. temperature alarm) and LO (min. temperature alarm). C.1.7 DEFROST (fig.1) - Automatic defrost The appliance has an automatic defrost function. This function is signalled by lighting up of the DEFROST Icon. The defrost water is run into a bowl and automatically evaporated. - Manual activation of defrost Keep the DOWN button pressed for at least 5 seconds to start a manual defrost cycle. This function is signalled by lighting up of the DEFROST Icon. If defrost conditions do not exist, the display shows the message dfb, indicating that the operation will not be carried out (only for models -15 C/-22 C and -2 C/+10 C). Defrost can be stopped manually by pressing the DOWN button for a few seconds the display shows the message dfe. Defrost cannot be activated in the programming stage. Keep the keys out of the reach of children. Regarding the max. load for each shelf, comply with that given in the table below: MAX. LOAD FOR EACH SHELF GN 1/1 D.1 ROUTINE MAINTENANCE 40 KG D.1.1 PRECAUTIONS FOR MAINTENANCE Routine maintenance operations can be carried out by nonspecialised personnel, carefully following the instructions given below. The Manufacturer declines any liability for operations carried out on the appliance without following these instructions WARNING: Do not touch the equipment with wet hands and/or feet or when barefoot. Disconnect the appliance from the power supply at least 30 minutes before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance operation. DO NOT remove the safety guards for routine maintenance operations. Use protection equipment (protective gloves). D.1.2 CLEANING THE CABINET AND ACCESSORIES Before using the unit, clean all the inside parts and accessories with warm water and neutral soap or products that are over 90% biodegradable (in order to reduce the emission of pollutants into the environment), then rinse and carefully dry. Do not use solvent-based detergents (e.g. trichloro-ethylene) or abrasive powders for cleaning. D.1.3 COMPARTMENT CLEANING To clean the compartment, remove all the racks, remove the screws fixing the wire structures, clean the compartment with products that are over 90% biodegrable, then rinse and dry carefully. IMPORTANT: these appliances do not have a water drain hole. D.1.4 PRECAUTIONS IN CASE OF LONG PERIODS OF NON-USE If the appliance is not going to be used for a long period, take the following precautions : Disconnect the plug from the mains power supply; Remove all food from the compartment and clean the inside and the accessories; Leave the door a jar so that air can circulate inside, preventing the formation of unpleasant odours. Air the room regularly. POSITION DISPLAY ALARM 1 E0/rE Compartment sensor fault alarm 2 E1 Evaporator sensor fault alarm 3 HI Compartment high temperature alarm 4 LO Compartment low temperature alarm C.2.8 PRODUCT LOADING Distribute the product evenly inside the compartment (away from the door, back and side walls) in order to ensure good air circulation. Cover or wrap food before placing it in the refrigerator and avoid putting very hot foods or steaming liquids inside. Do not leave the door open any longer than necessary when introducing or removing food. 23

6 D.2 MALFUNCTIONING - EXTRAORDINARY MAINTENANCE Extraordinary maintenance operations must be carried out by AUTHORISED PERSONNEL who can ask the manufacturer to supply a service manual. USE APPR0PRIATE SAFETY EQUIPMENT (GLOVES AND MASK) WHEN CARRYING OUT ANY MAINTENANCE OPERATION. WARNING: Do not touch the equipment with wet hands and/or feet. Before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance, disconnect the equipment from the electrical power and unplug the appliance. Do not remove the safety guards. Wear protective gloves when cleaning the condenser. Do not use scissors, screwdrivers and sharp objects on the cooling circuit. D.2.1 PERIODIC CLEANING OF CONDENSER For the appliance to work efficiently, the refrigerating unit condenser filter, located under the control panel, must be cleaned at least once every 3 months. If the appliance is installed in a dusty or poorly ventilated place the condenser filter must be cleaned more frequently, about once a month. Note: it is advisable to use a brush or vacuum cleaner to remove the dirt accumulated on the condenser. IMPORTANT: Do not clean the appliance with jets of water. D.2.2 REPLACING THE POWER SUPPLY CABLE To replace the power supply cable proceed as follows: Disconnect the power supply; Remove the electrical wiring guard; Replace the power supply cable; Refit the clamps to secure the earth wire; Refit the guard; Reconnect the power supply. D.2.3 QUICK TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE In some cases faults can be remedied easily and quickly; here is a list of possible faults and cures: A. The appliance doesn t switch on: - check that the plug is properly inserted in power supply socket; - check that the mains socket is powered. B. The inside temperature is too high: - check the thermostat setting; - check there is no heat source near the appliance; - check that the door closes properly. C. The appliance is excessively noisy: - make sure the appliance is level. An unbalanced position can set off vibrations. - check that the appliance is not touching other appliances or parts which could reverberate; Example: PNC Ser.No : 2-compartment freezer counter : manufactured in 2007, week 25, 10th piece. D.3 WASTE DISPOSAL AND DEMOLITION D.3.1 WASTE STORAGE At the end of the appliance s working life, make sure it is scrapped properly. The doors must be removed before scrapping the appliance. Special waste materials can be stored temporarily while awaiting processing for disposal and/or permanent storage. In any case the current environmental protection laws in the country of use must be observed. The symbol L placed on the product indicates that it is not to be considered as domestic waste, but must be correctly disposed of, in order to prevent any negative consequences for the environment and the health of persons. For further information on the recycling of this product, contact the local dealer or agent, the after-sales assistance service or the local body responsible for waste disposal. D.3.2 PROCEDURE FOR PRELIMINARY DISMANTLING OF THE APPLIANCE Different regulations are in force in the various countries, therefore the provisions laid down by the laws and the authorized bodies in the countries where demolition takes place must be observed. In general, the refrigerator must be taken to a specialized collection/demolition centre, after dismantling the components and grouping them together according to their chemical characteristics, remembering that the compressor contains lubricant oil and coolant, which can be recycled, and that the refrigerator components are classed as special waste assimilable with urban waste. Make the appliance unusable by removing the power supply cable and any compartment closing devices in order to avoid the risk of someone becoming trapped inside. DISMANTLING OPERATIONS MUST BE CARRIED OUT BY QUALI- FIED PERSONNEL. D.4 ENCLOSED DOCUMENTS Set of test and inspection documents Wiring diagram Installation diagram If the defect persists after having carried out the above checks, contact Technical Assistance, remembering to give the following details: the nature of the fault; the appliance s PNC (production code); the Ser.
