5 Challenges of Burning Fryer Oil According to this article in Appliance Design Magazine dated July 2009, there are several challenges to burning fryer oil as fuel in conventional heaters: The oil has a very high flash point: 500 to 600 degrees F Sticky consistency Debris laden Various BTU values & viscosities High presence of water The flame is too light for Cad Cells to respond to. appliancedesign July
