3 1. DESCRIPTION a. Designer hot air hand & hair dryers Vortex warm air designer dryers are all surface mounted, powered by a powerful brush motor that requires less than 1200 watts. All our dryers are Wi-Fi compatible and incorporate our exclusive germicidal technology which eliminates 99.9% of all microorganisms, including viruses, bacteria and mold, plus a reusable foam filter preventing lint and debris from entering the motor. Our element is enclosed in a ceramic block which virtually eliminates the loss of heat thereby substantially reducing the energy required compared to other brand dryers. All Vortex dryers are automatically operated by an optical sensor and, when registered, supported by a unique 10-year warranty covering all components, with the exception of the filter and germicidal bulb. With our exclusive Diamond Warranty, available for a fee at the time of purchase of the unit, the dryers are covered for technical defaults as well as vandalism with a replacement unit (please see section 14 for more details on the Diamond Warranty). i. Vortex ADA HS dryer with our exclusive blllablabllllllllllgermicidal technology respects the strictest legislative regulations in regards to the American Disability Act, the Vortex ADA HS is less than 4 thick, delivers unsurpassed drying speed and can be installed in Commercial, Industrial, Office, Public, Institutional and Hospitality environments with washrooms for the disabled or in constraint locations. iii. Vortex Classic HS dryer was designed with the newest technology to meet the needs of a secured or unsecured 360⁰ nozzle without neglecting the overall design. The ideal dryer to retrofit any existing nozzle dryer within any environment. Carefully remove the dryer from the shipping carton and Vortex packaging, using care not to drop the appliance, inspect carefully for any damage that may have occurred during transit, check for any loose, missing or damaged parts. Always place breaker on OFF position before installing, disconnecting or otherwise servicing the hand dryer. Failure to disconnect the power source before installation or servicing can result in serious injury or death from electrical shock. 2. Failure to properly ground the unit could result in serious injury and/or death from severe electrical shock. The hand dryer must be properly grounded for safe operation. An identified ground connection point is supplied on the hand dryer's wall plate. A GFCI protection is recommended protection in wet or damp locations or as required by local construction codes. 3. Risk of fire, personal injury or property damage is possible if local codes, or safety recommendations are not followed. 4. Installation and servicing should only be performed by qualified electrical technicians. 5. Use only the electrical power (voltage & frequency) specified for the dryer being installed. See Table 1 Electrical Specifications. 6. Connect the hand dryer to the nearest distribution panel. The fixed wiring must include a disconnection means complying with local wiring codes. To limit voltage drops, and insure efficient operation, use No.12 AWG wire or larger as required by local electrical codes. 7. Always connect to a branch circuit breaker or fuse protection with an electrical rating greater than the model s rated amperage shown in Table 1 Electrical Specifications, in accordance with the NEC (National Electrical Code) and / or CEC (Canadian Electrical Code).

13 8. To avoid a hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the terminal cut-out, the hand dryer must not be supplied through an external switching device, such as a timer or to a circuit that is regularly switched on / off. Each dryer must have it's own dedicated circuit. Move all field wiring away from moving parts within the dryer. 9. The NEC (National Electrical Code) and / or CEC (Canadian Electrical Code) require installation fittings with smooth rounded surfaces for protection of power supply cables. 10. Store and dispose of solvent-based materials, and materials used with solvent-based materials, in accordance with requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction. Warning: Mercury HAZARD. Caution must be taken not to break GERMICIDAL UVC bulbs during installation and since these bulbs contain a small amount of mercury which can cause injury if inhaled or ingested. For more information on clean up and disposal, see DANGER! Failure to properly ground this unit could result in severe electrical shock and / or death. Over exposure will cause significant eye damage and may cause skin damage. Do not look into UV light source. 7. INSTALLATION Classic & Jym ADA & Ultra 1. Go to the circuit panel to place breaker or fuse in the OFF position, never attempt to install, clean interior or service unit without first shutting off its power source. 2. Use Table 2 to determine recommended mounting height. Select a mounting location for the dryer where no reflection surfaces or objects (such as a wash basin) are directly under the optical sensor. The optical sensor is visible from the bottom of the dryer.

14 The minimum mounting distance from the bottom of the dryer to a reflective surface is 18 (46cm). When installing several dryers on the same wall a minimum space of 24 or (61cm) should be respected between each dryer. 3. Use the tamper proof key supplied to turn the cover mounting vandal proof screws counter-clockwise to remove the dryer cover. 4. Using the mounting template supplied, mark locations for the 4 mounting bolt holes on the wall. 5. With the breaker or fuse protection in the OFF position, feed the No.12 AWG wire or larger through the knock out hole in the base plate and fasten to the wall using the bolts recommended in Table 3. ( Fastening screws and bolts not supplied) 6. Connect the dryer to its own dedicated circuit in the nearest suitable distribution panel. 7. Replace cover, use the tamper proof key supplied to turn the cover mounting vandal proof screws clockwise making certain not to over-tighten. 15 8. Wi-Fi CONNECTING INSTRUCTIONS The optional Wi-Fi module is located on the inner left top of the circuit board. HOW TO CONNECT VORTEX HAND DRYER DEVICE WITH A WI-FI ROUTER We suggest an independent router for the exclusive use of the hand dryers, this will eliminate all possible interference with other users. Step 1: Power on ---Initialize module ---Red Light On. See image 1 Step 2: Turn On Wi-Fi ---Scan for Access point - Dryer_xxxxxxxxxxxx. Image 1 Step 3: Select and enter Password and Connect. See image 2 Step 4: Open Web Browser and type or URL. The screen illustrated in image 3 will be visible on the Browser. Step 5: Note down MAC Address of Devise. It will be required for Wi-Fi module registration. Please go to and follow instructions under Wi-Fi module and Diamond Warranty registration. Step 6: Enter Password of local Router to which you want to connect. See image 4 (next page) Step 7: Press Join Button and check status light. 5 different states are shown in image 5 (next page). 16 Image 4 Image 5 Detailed description for LED Status. 1. Red LED: Not connected with any Wi-Fi Router. 2. Yellow LED: Connecting to Wi-Fi Router. 3. Green LED: Connected to Wi-Fi Router and connected with Server using internet. 4. White LED: Connected to Wi-Fi router but internet is not available. 5. Blue LED: There are two options for this status. a. Wrong Password: At time of configuring Wi-Fi router, User has entered wrong Password. b. Router is not available: It means that Router is either off/ not in range. Device cannot find configured Router. 1) RESET VORTEX HAND DRYER DEVICE a. To reset Device, press and hold Reset Switch for 5 seconds or more. Release Reset Switch after 5 seconds. Now device will be ready to connect with another Wi-Fi router. b. The purpose of resetting Device is to forget the network to which it has previously connected to, in order to have it connect to a new Wi-Fi network, or to troubleshoot a current connection.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS IMPORTANT: We are certain of having the best possible dryers in the market but since there is lint and debris in the air we suggest the following maintenance schedule to keep your Vortex dryer free of these particles. Once a year for light or moderate traffic washroom. Every 6 months in a high traffic washroom. To clean the dryer: 1. Go to the circuit panel to place breaker or fuse in the OFF position, never attempt to install, clean interior or service the unit without first shutting off its power source. 2. Use the tamper proof key supplied and turn screws counter-clockwise to remove the cover from the dryer. 3. Use a soft bristle brush accessory on a vacuum to remove any existing lint, dust or debris from the air intake slots as well as motor's exterior taking care not to break the Germicidal bulb. 4. After cleaning, reassemble the dryer cover using the tamper proof key supplied and turn the cover mounting screws clockwise and tighten till snug. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. 10. FILTER REPLACEMENT All Vortex dryers come standard with a lint and debris filter. The service life of this filter depends on the environment as well as the washroom traffic. We suggest cleaning or changing filter, whichever is required at the same frequency as the maintenance schedule. To inspect, clean or replace filter: 1. Go to the circuit panel to place breaker or fuse in the OFF position, never attempt to install, clean interior or service the unit without first shutting off its power source. 2. Use the tamper proof key supplied and turn screws clockwise to remove the cover from the dryer. 3. Use a soft bristle brush accessory on a vacuum to remove any existing lint, dust or debris from the air intake slots as well as motor's exterior taking care not to break the Germicidal bulb. 4. Removing and replacing the filter is easily done by following FIGURE 1, for the VORTEX CLASSIC HS HAND DRYER AND THE VORTEX JYM HS HAIR DRYER these units have one filter as indicated in drawing. For the VORTEX ADA HS OR THE VORTEX ULTRA HS both have 2 filters, one on the right hand side of the nozzle and one on the left hand side of the nozzle, as shown in FIGURE After cleaning, reassemble the dryer cover using the tamper proof key supplied to turn the cover mounting screws clockwise and tighten till snug. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

GERMICIDAL BULB REPLACEMENT All Vortex dryers come standard with an exclusive germicidal bulb. These bulbs have an expected lifetime of 10,000 hours. We suggest cleaning these bulbs at the same frequency as the maintenance schedule to obtain maximum performance. To inspect, clean and replace bulb: 1. Go to the circuit panel to place breaker or fuse in the OFF position, never attempt to install, clean interior or service the unit without first shutting off its power source. 2. Use the tamper proof key supplied and turn screws counter-clockwise to remove the cover from the dryer. 3. Use a soft damp cloth to remove any existing lint or dust. 4. Removing and replacing the bulb is easily done by following FIGURE 3 for the VORTEX ADA HS OR THE VORTEX ULTRA HS HAND DRYERS and figure 4 for the VORTEX CLASSIC HS HAND DRYER AND VORTEX JYM HS HAIR DRYER. Simply loosen the two screws as shown, slide bulb upward, hold the plastic bulb recipient with one hand and pull out bulb upward with other hand. Please dispose of the bulb according to storage and disposal instructions under item 8a. For replacement bulbs please go to or contact your local distributor. When replacing new bulb in bulb recipient please handle with care sliding bulb into recipient, lowering holder in horizontal position and securing holder with the two screws. 5. After cleaning, reassemble the dryer cover using the tamper proof key supplied to turn the cover mounting screws clockwise and tighten till snug. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

19 6. DANGER Failure to properly ground the unit could result in serious injury and/or death from severe electrical shock. The hand dryer must be properly grounded for safe operation. Check OPTICAL SENSOR for foreign material or dirt. If relay clicking is heard go to breaker board and shut off for 5 seconds and retry, if clicking is heard for 5 times and dryer does not start please contact customer service. Place hands under sensor, you should hear a click. If no click is heard, the PCB board should be replaced. Place hands under dryer, if dryer vibrates or makes excessive noise, motor should be replaced. Check incoming power supply connections and secure Replace circuit board (PCB) Replace dryer controls

WARRANTY AND RETURNED GOODS PROCEDURES We at VORTEX INDUSTRIES take the greatest care and pride in manufacturing outstanding hair and hand dryers (that) meet the needs of the even most demanding users. To insure our customers of their entire satisfaction we have taken the following initiative in putting together the best warranty and return policy that exists to our knowledge.

21 1. A Warranty Policy Statement along with installation template and instructions are packed with each dryer manufactured by VORTEX INDUSTRIES. 2. All VORTEX DRYER UNITS MUST BE REGISTERED TO ACTIVATE WARRANTY LIMITED In essence, VORTEX INDUSTRIES warrants the client that it's products are free of defects in either material or workmanship. If, during the 10 year warranty period following a purchase by the end user, a client finds that a Vortex supplied dryer is defective, the Warranty shall include labour performed at factory as well as the repair or exchange of defective parts, at manufacturer's option. To register your dryer please refer to the Section 15 Warranty Registration Card. A completed Warranty Registration Card must be submitted for all dryer in order to activate the Limited Warranty. 3. A Returned Goods Authorization number (RGA) MUST first be obtained from VORTEX INDUSTRIES, for defective goods or components being returned. This RGA system allows us to properly track and document each return and assure that the necessary follow-up is done. A copy of this RGA must be attached and visible with the returned part of your dryer. You've returned your dryer to VORTEX DRYERS for repair. How do you know we've received it and when should you expect it back? If you have returned your dryer with a Return Goods Authorization number (RGA), we will confirm reception of your unit along with the precise time you can expect to receive your repaired unit. If you did not obtain a RGA number or did not include a clearly visible copy with your returned dryer, our customer shipping department will be unable to accept the goods. You ordered a replacement part from VORTEX DRYERS. When can you expect it? We will automatically send you an acknowledgement of the reception of your order giving you the tracking # and when you can expect the ordered component. 14. OPTIONAL VORTEX INDUSTRIES DIAMOND WARRANTY What is the VORTEX DRYERS DIAMOND WARRANTY? The Diamond Warranty is optional and covers the complete unit against technical defaults as well as vandalism during a period of 10 years. What is the cost of the Diamond Warranty? The one-time fee is $74.80 plus local taxes is available at time of purchase from Vortex Industries or your authorized Distributor. How does it work? From the original date of purchase of the dryer by the end user and during a period of 1 year VORTEX DRYERS will replace the defective or vandalism with a new replacement unit without cost.

23 (Scratches, graffiti or intentional damages are not considered as vandalism). Should your Vortex Dryer become defective or vandalized during years 2, 3 and 4 you will have the possibility of receiving a new unit for 30% of your initial cost (original invoice will be requested). For the remainder of the 10 year warranty we will replace your defective or vandalized unit for 50% of your initial cost (original invoice will be requested). The Diamond Warranty covers replacement parts only with the exception of the coarse air filter and the germicidal bulb as well as on site labor costs and shipping and handling.
