11 7. CLEANING AND SERVICING CAUTION!!! THIS OPERATION MUST ONLY BE CARRIED OUT BY A LICENSED INSTALLATION ENGINEER. This section is for the end user and is extremely important for the correct operation of the equipment over time. Just a few carefully performed periodic operations can prevent specialist personnel having to be called in. The operations to be carried out do not require particular technical knowledge and consist of simple checks of the equipment components. IMPORTANT BEFORE CARRYING OUT ANY SERVICING OR CLEANING OF THE EQUIPMENT, DISCONNECT IT FROM THE POWER SUPPLY. CAUTION DO NOT WASH THE EQUIPMENT WITH DIRECT, HIGH PRESSURE WATER JETS. DO NOT AIM THE WATER AT THE ELECTRICAL PARTS. CAUTION IF THE DOOR IS OPENED MORE FREQUENTLY THAN THE AVERAGE OR INCORRECT USE DETERMINES THE NEED FOR FREQUENT CHECKS TO SEE HOW FULL THE BASIN IS 1. WEEKLY CLEANING STRUCTURE Check to see how clean the parts making up the structure are. Particular attention must be paid to the parts made of steel. For the cleaning of the unit cabinet use a soft cloth with a mild detergent solution specific for Stainless Steel. DEFROSTING WATER COLLECTION SYSTEM Check that the condensate water drainage pipe is not clogged. If necessary clean it. Empty the condensate water drainage pipe and refit it again properly in its seat. 2. ORDINARY MAINTENANCE CONDENSER UNIT COIL The battery must be able to provide the maximum heat exchange It is therefore important that its surface is always free from dirt or dust that can anyway be deposited due to the action of the electric fans. Remove all the impurities like paper and dust that might have been deposited on the surfaces of the coil with the aid of a vacuum cleaner or a paint brush or non metal brush. Check that the aluminium fins have not been damaged or bent, if you encounter situations like that, comb the battery with the special tool until the initial situation of optimal airflow has been restored. POWER CABLE Check that power cable connecting the equipment with the socket is not cut, cracked or shows signs of alteration that compromises its insulating capacity. Contact an authorised assistance centre if maintenance is necessary. 11

12 3. LONG PERIODS OF DOWNTIME If the equipment is not to be used for long periods, do the follow: Move the mains switch to OFF. Take the plug out of the socket. Empty the equipment and then clean it as described in point 1. Leave the doors ajar to prevent bad smells from forming. Protect from dust in the compressor assembly. 4. LIGHTING SYSTEM The lighting system is usually activated when the doors are opened, by means of a microswitch. If there is a malfunctioning in this system contact an authorised after-sales service centre of a person with the requisite qualification to carry out the necessary maintenance. CAUTION!!! THIS OPERATION MUST ONLY BE CARRIED OUT BY A LICENSED INSTALLATION ENGINEER. All cleaning and maintenance operations must be done after disconnecting the power supply from the system. the collection basin making sure there are no obstructions in the drainage tube. CLEANING THE CONDENSER The steady build up of dust at the front of the condenser causes a gradual reduction in the efficiency of the refrigeration circuit. It is therefore a good practice to inspect the condenser frequently and clean it with a non-metallic brush or vacuum cleaner. CAUTION The condenser has sharp edges. Use protective gloves while cleaning. THIS OPERATION MUST BE CARRIED OUT WITH THE SYSTEM AT A STANDSTILL DRAINAGE OF DEFROSTING WATER The system has a facility for automatic and manual defrosting when necessary. Check the correct drainage of the evaporator water into WEEE Notice The Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), which entered into force as European law on 13th February 2003, resulted in a major change in the treatment of electrical equipment at end-oflife. The purpose of this Directive is, as a first priority, the prevention of WEEE, and in addition, to promote the reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery of such wastes so as to reduce disposal. The WEEE logo on the product or on its box indicates that this product must not be disposed of or dumped with your other household waste. You are liable to dispose of ali your electronic or electrical waste equipment by relocating over to the specified collection point for recycling of such hazardous waste. Isolated collection and proper recovery of your electronic and electrical waste equipment at the time of disposal will allow us to help conserving natural resources. Moreover, proper recycling of the electronic and electrical waste equipment will ensure safety of human health and environment. For more information about electronic and electrical waste equipment disposal, recovery, and collection points, please contact your local city centre, household waste disposal service, shop from where you purchased the equipment, or manufacturer of the equipment. 12
