3 Essential for everyone s life Water: Water analysis Before planning a water-to-water heat pump a thorough water analysis should be carried out. Water volume Depending on the required heat output the well must be able to supply a sustained minimum water volume. Water quality Ingress of particles (sand etc.) into the evaporator should be prevented as far as possible. As a precaution all waterto-water heat pumps are supplied with a particle filter. When establishing the well system it must be ensured that it is free of sand in accordance with DIN heating room Water temperature The ground water must maintain a minimum temperature of +7 C throughout the whole year. In most cases this is ensured by a well depth of 8 to 10 m. It must be ensured that there can be no flooding with melt water in the spring time. 4 Compact Heat Pump WWC Ground water is the ideal medium for storing the sun s energy and provides optimum conditions for the heat pump. Even on the coldest days the water has a temperature of 7 to 12 C. Where ground water is available at sufficient a depth and in sufficient quantities and is of a satisfactory quality it is one of the most effective heat sources. In order to use ground water as a heat source bore holes must be drilled. The distance between the extraction well (supply well) and the return well (sink well) should be approximately 10 to 15 metres. The heat pump The Compact Series water-to-water heat pump is an easy to install solution with a heating performance of 10 to 44 kw. The devices require minimum planning and installation work. Compact means: A small footprint due to multiple integrated components which require external wall installation in standard heat pump designs. This concept not only reduces the time required for installation but also offers improved user safety. All components are factory tested and optimally matched. Operating principle Ground water is extracted from the supply well by an extractor pump and transported to the evaporator of the heat pump. Here, energy is extracted from the water. Depending on the individual design the water cools down by up to 4 K but its characteristics remain otherwise unaltered. The water is then returned to the same aquifer via a sink well. To eliminate the possibility of the flow short-circuiting, extraction and return must take place in the ground water s direction of flow. Lake water The utilisation of lake water usually presents contamination problems so that lake water cannot be used directly. One method of utilising a lake s heat is to submerge a collector in the water and extract its energy via a brine-to-water heat pump. However, this approach requires careful advance planning and is only feasible where there is a sufficiently large body of water and flow. Anchoring the collector pipes can incur very high costs. Approval Utilisation of ground water is subject to the approval of the relevant water authorities. Additionally, the relevant utility company must be advised of the operation of a heat pump. To protect the rights of neighbours the supply and sink well must to be situated at an adequate distance from property boundaries. There must be no substantial impact on any ground water utilisations in the immediate vicinity. Relevant information can be obtained from the local authorities. The well must be sited in accordance with legal regulations, directives, standards and guidelines. Well construction may only be carried out by drilling companies approved in accordance with DVGW W 120 and must be completed to DIN and VDI Control The WWC systems are fitted with a Luxtonik 2.0 Turn & Tip controler. Features: Screed heating program, intelligent control clock, rapid load, domestic hot water, USB connection (to read the data), network interface (control of the domestic network via interbrowser is possible without using additional hardware or software) etc. Installation The Alpha-InnoTec water-to-water heat pumps compact design results in minimal installation space requirements. The dual pendulum suspension design and intelligent silencer system ensure whisper-quiet operation so that the water-to-water heat pumps can be installed in practically any basement or utility room.
