3 Description of part The device allows the crop protection products introduction into the sprayers main tank, avoiding its direct access. It consists in a pyramid - shaped main body, equipped with hinged lid including lock handles; on the lid, a transparent plastic window allows to check the device running during the product mixing and main body cleaning operations. The frame is created with painted steel, while the tank is in polyethylene. The premixer can be directly installed on the sprayer or can operate independently thanks to an external supply. The premixer is equipped with three lever valves which separately manage the nozzles feeding settled inside the main body. The first valve supplies the inner mixer part cleaning system, the second one controls the rotating nozzle for containers cleaning while the third one is connected to the slot nozzle located in the lower part of the tank, allowing to dilute the plant protection product and making its mixing with water easier. 4 Hopper inner part Hopper inside during the internal cleaning test Thanks to an especially provided lever controlling a ball valve located below the tank, the mixer contents can be drained through the drainpipe internally equipped with a Venturi, in order to create the suitable depression for the products suction contained in the hopper. The Venturi flow rate and capacity may be modified by replacing the internal ejector, depending on the installing needs; there are four possible sizes (diam. 5, 7, 9 and 12 mm). 4

5 Main results of functional tests General features Close to the hopper fluid outlet section there is a grid with mesh size of 6 x 10 mm (maximum accepted value: <20 mm). The lid is hinged to the hopper main body of the feeder, automatically remains in open position and is equipped with a closing system consisting in a spring hook. Control levers are located on the right and lower side in an accessible position. The hopper inner part can be inspected also with the closed lid thanks to a transparent window. Capacity Inside the hopper, to the nominal capacity indicator, 30.5 l of liquid were present. The difference between the nominal capacity and the real one was therefore 1.7% (maximum accepted value: <5.0%). The maximum capacity corresponds to33.5 l, +11.7% compared to the nominal value (maximum accepted value: >10.0%). Hydraulic sealing during mixing and cleaning operations was good. Fluids draining The draining rate was influenced by the operating pressure and by the ejector size. By raising the values of both parameters the flow rate increases. Operating with 10 bar pressure, draining rates between 90 and 110 l/min were obtained, depending on the ejector diameter. The minimum limit of 60 l/min, established by the test protocol, can be reached by all ejectors, at higher pressures than: 7 bar for 5 mm, 6 bar for 7 mm, 5 bar for 9 mm and 4 bar for the 12 mm in diameter ejector. 5

Draining with powders The residues found inside the hopper after the powder draining test were comfortably below the maximum limit established by the protocol (<2% of quantity input). 7 Draining with microgranules The residues found inside the hopper after the powder draining test were comfortably below the maximum limit established by the protocol (<2% of quantity input). Explanation on testing Testing takes place according to the Technical Instructions for ENTAM-Tests of Induction hopper. This procedure was developed by the competent testing authorities of the European countries participating in ENTAM and is based on the standard ISO Equipment for crop protection - Induction hoppers for fertilisers and plant protection products - Part 1: Test methods and ISO Equipment for crop protection - Induction hoppers for fertilisers and plant protection products - Part 2: Performance limits. This test is only a technical performance test which takes place without an accompanying field test. The test results apply only to the tested appurtenances of the sprayer. Statements on the behaviour of the component with different appurtenances cannot be derived from this results. 7
