In addition, they provide important maintenance and service information as well as tips to operate the unit more economically. Take a few minutes to discover how to achieve maximum comfort and save energy with your new room air conditioner. The figures in this manual may differ from the actual objects. Please refer to the actual objects for reference. For your own security, we strongly suggest to not let childrens use this product. Any other groupe of person that might not have the skills to correctly operate this product must be superviser by an experienced user. Do not dispose of this product with unsorted municipal waste. 3 SUMMARY This PORTABLE AIR CONDITIONER is a small, movable air conditioner. It can be run in COOL, DRY and the various ventilation modes, and can be moved when desired. It is great for home and office use, and especially for houses with several rooms. Given its compact configuration, excellent workmanship and elegant appearance make one superior product. Note: Please read this manual carefully before running the unit. The manual is used for reference, and the technical parameters are subject to change without notice. WORKING PRINCIPLE The upper motor brings air from the room through the evaporator, which cools it. The lower motor brings air from the room through the condenser, which heats it. There are two duct systems in the structure. The rear outlet discharges the heated air. The front outlet discharges the cooled air, whose airflow is directed by the louver to cool the room. 5 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS USAGE NOTICE The temperature range in the COOL and DRY modes is between 16 C (61 F) and 30 C (86 F). The Max Cooling temperature for the air conditioner is 35 C (95 F). Unpacking the air conditioner min. 12 po (50 WARNING Excessive Weight Hazard Use two or more people to move and install the air conditioner. Failure to do so can result in back or other injury. Remove packaging materials: Remove and properly dispose of the packaging materials. Remove tape and glue residue from surfaces before turning on the air conditioner. Rub a small amount of liquid dish soap over the adhesive with your fingers. Wipe with warm water and dry. Do not use sharp instruments, rubbing alcohol, flammable fluids, or abrasive cleaners to remove tape or glue. These products can damage the surface of your air conditioner. Placement requirements: The appliance must be installed in accordance with national wiring regulations. The appliance is for indoor use only, but must not be installed in the laundry room. Place the air conditioner on a smooth, level floor that is strong enough to support the unit. Allow at least 12 inches (50 cm) of air space on all sides of the unit for good air ventilation. 12 (50 cm) min. 12 (50 cm) min. Place the unit in an area where the temperature will not fall below 16 C (61 F). The coils will become covered with frost at temperatures below 16 C (61 F), which may reduce performance. NOTE: The portable air conditioner has wheels for easy movement, but it should only be rolled on smooth and flat surfaces. Do not attempt to roll the portable air conditioner on carpet or over objects. 4

6 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS USAGE NOTICE Electrical Requirements WARNING Electrical Shock Hazard Plug into a grounded 3-prong outlet. Do not remove ground prong. Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, fire, or electrical shock. Do not use an extension cord. Do not use an adapter. The power supply must be of the rated voltage and have a special circuit for AC. The diameter of the power cord should be large enough for the voltage rating. It is recommended to use a time-delay fuse or time-delay circuit breaker. All wiring must comply with local and national electrical codes and should be installed by a qualified electrician. If you have any questions, contact a qualified electrician. For safety reasons, please unplug your unit when it is not in use. Please see the following table for circuit breaker capacity. "ON/ OFF " button Press once to start and press once more to stop the unit. 2. "MODE" button Press this button to change the running mode in order of: COOL DRY FAN HEAT. 3. and button In "COOL" or HEAT mode, press once to decrease the temperature by 1 C (1 F). Press once to increase the temperature by 1 C (1 F). The temperature must be between 16 C (61 F) and 30 C (86 F). 6

Install the exhaust duct. 2) Press "MODE" to select the "COOL" mode. 3) Press or to set the suitable temp. between 16 C (61 F) 30 C (86 F). HEAT mode (not for cooling unit only) 1) Select a location near a door or window. Install the exhaust duct. 2) Press MODE to select HEAT mode. 3) Press or key to set the suitable temp. between 16 C (61 F) and 30 C (86 F). CAUTION To ensure that the COOL mode functions to its fullest capacity, pay attention to the following: 1) Use curtains to block direct sunlight. 2) Do not use other heat sources in the air conditioned room. DRY mode 1) Close doors and windows for the best dehumidifying effect. Press "MODE" to select the "DRY" mode. When the unit is in the "DRY" mode the upper motor runs at low speed. This it is not adjustable. 2) Select a location near a door or window. Install the exhaust duct. FAN mode There are three speeds in the FAN mode. WATER DRAINAGE When the tanks is full, the indicator flashes and the buzzer sounds eight times. The LED display shows error code H8, and the unit stops running. The water must be emptied. 7

Do not let the remote control get wet and keep the remote control out of direct sun light or extreme heat. Press to decrease the temp. setting by 1 C (1 F) Hold the button down to change the temp. more rapidly. The range of temp. settings is between 16 C (61 F) and 30 C (86 F). FAN FAN speed button Remote control ON/OFF MODE Each time the button is pressed, the fan speed will change in the sequence below: FAN Auto Low Speed Middle Speed X-FAN TURBO TEMP SLEEP TIMER LIGHT High Speed Note: The fan speed is not adjustable in the DRY mode (low fan speed). ON/OFF ON/OFF button Louver swing (up/down) button Press this button to start or stop the unit. It will clear the previous timer or sleep settings. MODE Mode button Press this button to choose from the modes below: Simple swing mode is the default setting for the wireless remote control. Press this button to turn the louver swing on or off. With the unit off, press "+" and the louver swing buttons simultaneously to switch between the simple swing mode and stationary swing mode flashes for two seconds. Press the button while in Stationary swing mode, to change the louver angle as show below: AUTO COOL DRY FAN HEAT (Note: for cooling unit only). OFF When the unit is turned off and the louver swing is working, the louver will immediately stop in its current position. is displayed and the louver swings up and down as show in the above figure. 8

10 PARTS AND FUNCTIONS OF THE REMOTE CONTROL NOTE: This is a universal remote control and can be used for different units. The buttons that do not apply to this unit will not be described below. Remote control FAN AUT O AIR HEAL TH X-FAN HUMIDITY FIL TER OPER TURBO HOUR ON/OFF ON/OFF MODE FAN X-FAN TEMP TIMER TURBO SLEEP LIGHT TIMER Timer button With the unit on, press this button to set timer off time. With the unit off, press this button to set timer on time. When the button is pressed once, the words Hour on (off) appear and flash. Press +/- to adjust the time (hold the +/- button down to change time more rapidly). The time setting ranges from 0.5 to 24 hr. Press this button again to set the time. The remote control will then send the signal to the unit and Hour on/off will stop flashing. If the timer button is not pressed within the 5 seconds that the time is flashing, the timer setting will be cancelled. If the timer has been set, press this button again to quit the mode. HEALTH/SAVE HEALTH/SAVE button HEALTH function: There is no health function for this unit. If the button is pressed, the main unit will click but will continue running in its original mode. Save energy function: There is no energy function for this unit. If the button is pressed,, the main unit will click, "SE" will be displayed on the wireless remote control screen and the fan speed automatically changes. When this button is pressed again, the fan speed will return to the previous fan speed setting. Louver swing (left/right) button There is no left/right swing function for this unit. If the button is pressed, the main unit will click but will continue running in its original mode. TEMP Temp. display button This button changes the display between the temperature setting and the room temperature. The main unit will click. 9

FAN AUT O AIR HEAL TH X-FAN HUMIDITY FIL TER TURBO OPER HOUR ON/OFF X-FAN X-FAN button Press this button in the COOL or DEHUMIDIFY mode to turn X-FAN on or off ( X-FAN will appear on or disappear from the screen). When the unit is first turned out, the default setting is X-FAN off. This function cannot be set under AUTO, FAN or HEAT mode. Remote control ON/OFF MODE Note: X-FAN means the same as BLOW. FAN SLEEP X-FAN TURBO TEMP SLEEP TIMER LIGHT Sleep button Press this button once to activate the SLEEP mode. Press again to turn SLEEP off. The sleep function is cancelled when the unit is turned off. The SLEEP mode cannot be set in the AUTO and FAN modes. is the icon for the SLEEP mode. In the COOL or DRY mode: When the SLEEP mode has run for 1 hour, the temp. setting will increase by 1 C (2 F). When it has run for 2 hours, the temp. setting will increase by 2 C (4 F) and then will run at this temperature setting. In the HEAT mode: When the SLEEP mode has run for 1 hour, the temp. setting will decrease by 1 C (2 F). When it has run for 2 hours, the temp. setting will decrease by 2 C (4 F) and then it will maintain this temperature setting. LIGHT Light button Press this button to turn the display LIGHT on or off. When the LIGHT is on, the icon will be displayed and the indicator light on the display will be on. When the LIGHT is off, the icon will disappear and all the indicator lights on the display will be off. 10

12 HOW TO USE THE REMOTE CONTROL Operating Instructions - General Operation 1.Press ON/OFF to turn the unit on after connecting the main unit to the power supply. (Note: Every time the unit is turned on, the large and small louvers will close at first.) 2.Press MODE to select desired running mode. 3.Press +/ - to set the desired temperature. (The temperature cannot be set in AUTO mode.) 4.Press FAN to set the fan speed to AUTO FAN, LOW, MID or HIGH. 5.Press to set the swing mode. ON/OFF MODE FAN X-FAN TEMP TIMER TURBO SLEEP LIGHT Operating Instructions - Optional Operation 1. Press SLEEP to set the sleep mode. 2. Press TIMER then press +/- to set the timer on or timer off times. 3. Press LIGHT to turn the display light on or off. 4. Press X-FAN to turn the X-FAN function on or off. 5. Press TURBO to turn this function on or off. ON/OFF FAN MODE X-FAN TEMP TIMER TURBO SLEEP LIGHT Special functions About the X-FAN function This function indicates that moisture on the unit s evaporator will be blown out after the unit is stopped to avoid creating mould. 1. With the X-FAN function on: After turning off the unit (press ON/OFF), the indoor fan will continue running for about 10 min. at low speed. During this time, press X-FAN to immediately stop the fan. 2. With the X-FAN function off: After turning off the unit (press ON/OFF), the entire unit will be immediately turned off. 11

13 HOW TO USE THE REMOTE CONTROL About AUTO RUN When the AUTO RUN mode is selected, the temperature setting will not be displayed on the LED screen. The unit automatically selects the suitable running mode based on the room temperature. About turbo function When selected, the unit runs at super-high fan speed to cool or heat more rapidly so that the ambient temp. reaches the preset temp. as soon as possible. About lock Press + and - simultaneously to lock or unlock the keyboard. If the remote control is locked, the icon will be displayed on it. In this case, when any button is pressed, the icon will flash three times. If the keyboard is unlocked, the icon will disappear. About switching between Fahrenheit and Centigrade With the unit off, press MODE and - simultaneously to switch between C and F. About the new defrost function (Defrost is not available on this unit.) If this function is turned on by remote control and the unit is running in defrost mode, it will continue to run until it is finished even if the unit is turned off. If the mode is changed by remote control, the function will not begin running until the defrosting has finished. Turning this function on or off: If the remote control is off, press MODE and X-FAN simultaneously to enter or cancel this function. If the unit is in the defrost mode, the remote control will display H1. If the unit is in HEAT mode, H1 will be displayed and will flash for 5 seconds. In this case, when +/- is pressed, H1 will disappear and the temp. setting will be displayed. After remote control is turned on, the default defrost setting is off. Changing batteries and notices 1.Lightly press and slide off the back cover of wireless remote control in the direction indicated by the arrows. (As show in figure) 2.Take out the old batteries. (As show in figure) 3.Insert two new AAA1.5V dry batteries, paying attention to the placement of the batteries. (As show in figure) 4.Attach the back cover of wireless remote control. (As show in figure) NOTE: When changing the batteries, do not use old or different types of batteries, which may cause the wireless remote control to malfunction. If the wireless remote control will not be used for a long time, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage to the wireless remote control. The remote control must be used in in its receiving range. The remote control should be used at least 1m away from a TV set or stereo sound set. If the wireless remote control malfunctions, remove the batteries and replace them after 30 seconds. If the remote control still doesn t work correctly, replace the batteries with fresh ones. 14 EXHAUST HOSE ACCESSORIES AND INSTALLATION The exhaust pipe should be 50~150cm long. It is recommended to use the shortest length. When installing, the exhaust pipe should be as flat as possible. Don't stretch the pipe or connect it to another exhaust pipe, which will affect how the unit runs and damage it. Correct installation is shown in figure (When installing it on a wall, position about cm from floor). 100 cm 13

17 CARE AND MAINTENANCE Portable unit Retir Lave pomm l excé séch There are wheels at the bottom of the unit that enable it to be moved from room to room as needed. AVERTISSEMENT Before cleaning, please pull out the power plug and turn off the power supply to avoid electric shock. Air inlet grill Clean the air filter Clean the filter at least once every 2 weeks to prevent dust build-up on the filter, which will affect the unit s performance. Do not use gasoline, diesel oil or similar substances to clean the unit. Before cleaning, pull out the power plug. 19 TROUBLESHOOTING If a malfunction occurs, please check the following before servicing the unit: Troubles The air conditioner doesn't start. Although set to COOL mode, there is no cool air. Possible Causes The power supply is not properly connected. The power plug is not inserted tightly. The power plug or socket is damaged. The fuse is burnt. The GFI as tripped. 1. The room temp. is lower than the set temp. 2. The evaporator has frost. Solutions 1. Insert the power plug tightly. 2. Replace the power plug or socket. 3. Ask for the service technician to replace the fuse. 4. Press the "RESET" button to replace the GFI. 1. This is the normal. 2. Please reduce the temperature of your unit. Although set to DRY mode, there is no cool air. 1. The evaporator has frost. 1. The unit is running in defrost mode and will resume running in the original mode after defrosting. The LED screen displays "ES ". 1. Low voltage Turn off the power supply. Wait 10 minutes then turn the unit on. If "ES" is still displayed, please contact a service technician. The LED screen displays "H8 ". The water tank is full. 1. Pour out the water that is in the tank. 2. If H8 is still displayed, please contact a service technician. The LED screen displays "F1 ". The LED screen displays "F2 ". The LED screen displays "F4 ". Malfunction of evaporator temperature sensor Malfunction of evaporator temperature sensor 1.The wiring terminal between outdoor condenser temperature sensor and the control is loose or has poor contact. 2. There s short circuit. 3.The outdoor condenser temperature sensor is damaged. 4.The control panel was broken. 18 Check if indoor room temperature sensor is connected properly. 20 USER NOTICES Location Do not install the unit in a sealed off location. Be sure there is good ventilation to prevent malfunction. Do not install the unit in direct sunlight, to prevent fading and a reduction of efficiency. Do not install the unit in a damp area, which can cause electrical creepage. Do not install the unit in areas with gas, fire or oil or any other substance that will cause malfunction. Others May be a safety risk for the following people. Please use with caution: 1) Young children and patients. 2) Those who have difficulty expressing themselves. 3) Those who are exhausted, drunk or have taken sleeping medication. Do not step on or put anything on the top of the unit, as it will fall or tilt, which can cause malfunction. Avoid directing cold air on the body for a long time, as it may cause health problems. The unit should be placed about 1 m or more away from a TV, to prevent electromagnetic inter ference. Do not block the air inlet/outlet, as it will cause malfunction. Do not insert hands or sticks into the air inlet or outlet. Pay close attention to young children to prevent accidents. Static pressure in the pipeline ranges from 0Pa to 25Pa. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, a service agent or a similarly qualified person to prevent hazards. The appliance must be positioned so that the plug is accessible. This appliance is not intended for use by people (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or a lack of experience and knowledge, unless they are supervised or have received instructions on using the appliance from a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. 19

Do not use insecticide or other sprays, as they can deform or crack the unit. Read the Owner s Manual carefully concerning disposal and for the meaning of the "garbage bin" icon. Contact your local government for information regarding the collection systems available. If electrical appliances are disposed of in landfills or dumps, hazardous substances can leak into the groundwater and get into the food chain, affecting health and well-being. When replacing old appliances with new ones, the retailer is legally obligated to take back your old appliance for disposal free of charge. It is prohibited to dispose of this appliance as domestic household waste. 22 INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF HEALTHY FILTER Installation Instruction 1. Press the handle of air inlet grill and pull outwards to remove. Cleaning and maintenance Take out the healthy filter before cleaning and reinstall it after cleaning according to the installation instructions. Note that active carbon cannot be cleaned with water. Dry it in the shade or sun after cleaning. Do not wipe dry. The lifetime healthy filter is approximately one year under normal conditions. 21

23 WARRANTY LIMITED WARRANTY This air conditioner is covered by a warranty against defects in materials and workmanship including the compressor, if used for the applications specified in this owner s manual, for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of original purchase in Canada. Note : The internal compressor is covered by a 5-YEAR limited warranty. During the warranty period, if this air conditioner fails under normal use, GREE will, at its option, either repair the unit or replace it, free of charge, within a reasonable period of time after the air conditioner is returned. As a condition to any warranty service obligation, the customer must present this warranty certificate along with the proof of purchase. THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER : 1. Damage, accidental or otherwise, to the air conditioner that are not caused by materials or workmanship defect. 2. Damage caused by misuse, tampering or failure to follow the operating and maintenance instructions provided in this owner s manual. 3. Damage to the finish of the unit enclosure or to other outer features caused by wear. 4. Filter. 5.
