In the 1990s, Sub-Zero purchased Wolf and moved production to Wisconsin and Arizona. The Wolf company today is a prestigious manufacturer of residential cooking appliances. Although Wolf manufactures hobs, speed ovens and ventilation, we will focus on their most important products, namely professional ranges, wall ovens, gas rangetops, cookops and induction cooking.

6 6 Pro Ranges Wolf manufactures two types of ranges: gas convection and dual fuel convection in 30, 36, 48 and 60 widths. They are known for their iconic red knobs. However, Wolf is incredibly reliable as well. Photo credit: Precision Cabinets via Houzz

7 7 Gas vs. Dual Fuel Dual fuel (gas burners on top, electric oven) is considered superior in evenness of baking to a gas convection oven. Dual fuel requires 40 amps of electricity and is typically 20% more expensive than gas. The dual fuel in Wolf is twin convection fans, for even better heat distribution than the gas model. Other advantages of Wolf s dual fuel over their all gas unit include self-cleaning, a true clock and timer system and different cooking modes like proof and dehydrate. 9 9 Wall Ovens Wolf now has two ovens, the E Series and M series. The E Series is now their older series, but still has twin convection at a lower price. Wolf has become known for their twin convection technology for more even heat. You will be able to bake better, especially at the corners of the oven.

10 10 Wall Ovens The M series has further refined cooking with the Verti Cross blower system replacing convection fans. It adds space and evenness of cooking. 13 Cooktops + Rangetops 13 The difference between a cooktop and a rangetop is the location of the controls and the overall BTU output. Rangetops also have the ability to include grills, griddles or French tops. Both will feature dual stack burners like the pro ranges. 15 15 Induction Cooktops Best Form of Cooking Available Induction uses a magnet to excite the molecules in your metallic pan to create heat. The cookware, not the cooktop surface, actually cooks the food. Induction is faster than professional gas, offers an instant simmer, and is the most child safe. There is also less heat emission, so venting and even downdrafting is not an issue with induction. Wolf has three sizes: 2-burner 15, 4-burner 30 and 5- burner 36 width with electronic controls. 17 17 Buying Strategies Wolf is a cooking line. The hardest part of designing your kitchen is deciding between a range or a wall oven with cooktop. Their new wall ovens are competitive with increased size and Wolf Gourmet. The ranges have 20,000 BTU capability and twin convection. Wolf does have significant new competition from Viking, Thermador, Jenn-Air and Miele.
