1 Egg handling With suction cups and a vacuum, eggs and other easily damaged products can be handled without risk, simply and conveniently. Picking up and opening bags Bellows suction cups are ideal for picking up and opening all kinds of bags from paper bags to thin plastic bags. Vacuum molding of plastic products Vacuum forming uses atmospheric pressure for pressing down heated sheets of plastic into a mold. A vacuum tank can be used for extra force in the initial stage. Instrument control for aircraft and vehicles Vacuum can be used to simulate different pressures and heights. Various instruments can be checked in special test rigs.

2 Vacuum conveying of powders and granules Various powders and granules can be moved from place to place safely and without harming the environment by means of vacuum. Picking up and handling sheets of material Vacuum and suction cups can be used to move sheets of various materials and sizes between different production units. Filtration of liquids and creams under vacuum Vacuum is used for increasing the flow of liquid through a filter, thus speeding up filtration of various substances. Vacuum toilets With the help of vacuum, toilet-flushing can take place with a minimum of water. This is particularly important on trains where the waste water has to be collected in a tank.

3 Handling stones and concrete slabs Using the right suction cup, stone, concrete or other rough slabs can be removed or put in place by means of vacuum. Vacuum forceps A small suction cup at the end of vacuum forceps makes it possible to handle small, delicate components or products, such as integrated circuits, small bulbs or lenses. Starting centrifugal pumps By placing the pump housing under vacuum, the water is being drawn up and a quick start is ensured. Test equipment for printed circuit boards In test equipment for printed circuit boards, a vacuum is used for drawing the printed circuit board against the test pins in the fixture. The vacuum holds the circuit board to the test pins to test if all circuits have been properly made.

4 Filling powders by vacuum Dry and easily flowing powders can be filled into containers by means of vacuum. By placing the container under vacuum through a filter the powder is drawn into the container. By fluidizing the powder with compressed air it "flows" more easily, making filling easier. Taking blood By placing the plastic bag for the blood in a hard container and placing the container under vacuum, the blood is drawn into the bag. Evacuation of air from moulds If vacuum is used in the evacuation of a mold, a more rapid and even filling is achieved, with less risk of bubbles forming. Labelling machines With the help of vacuum, labels can be applied quickly and conveniently to particularly soft or uneven products.

5 Milking machines Cows can be milked by means of vacuum. Special equipment provides a pulsating massage while the milk is being drawn. The milk is drawn along sealed pipes to collection tanks for further transport to special mik-collection trucks. Pressure-impregnation becomes more effective if the product which is to be impregnated is exposed to vacuum first. Cavities in the product then have a lower pressure than the surroundings, thus the difference in pressure becomes greater and impregnation more effective. Paper-feeding and printing machines Compressed air is used in printing machines to blow and thus separate the sheets of paper, and vacuum to pick them up and feed them into the machine. Dental and hospital suction Vacuum can be used to draw blood, amalgam, etc. safely and conveniently. A compressed air-operated vacuum pump provides good opportunities for adjusting the desired vacuum level.

6 Vacuum within the graphics industry In connection with microfilming and reprophotography, vacuum is used to hold the film o rim or copy flat for optimum results. Lamination with the help of vacuum In connection with the manufacture of veneer, plastic or other laminated products, vacuum is used to eliminate bubbles and increase strength. Rotating feed roller Through slits in a roller, magnetic tape, paper tape, etc. can be kept in place by means of vacuum. This means minimum wear on the material. Filling liquids by vacuum Bottles or containers for filling are placed under vacuum and the liquid is quickly drawn. This procedure reduces the filling time substantially.

7 Vacuum chuck for machining By means of vacuum, various parts ranging in shape and material can be held in place for convenient machining. Handling panes of glass by robot within the automotive industry Using suction cups and vacuum, glass and other easily damaged materials can be handled simply and conveniently with no risk of scratching or other damage. Mixing liquids and creams under vacuum Mixing materials under vacuum removes air from the mixture and provides a homogeneous end result. If casting is to follow, the risk of pore formation is eliminated. 8 Vacuum packaging Food that is vacuum packaged will typically have a much longer shelf life. Box forming equipment Corrugated cartons and boxes can be quickly and easily handled and erected using vacuum pumps and suction cups. Evaporation and degassing Vacuum can be used to lower the boiling'point of any liquid, which considerably lowers the time needed to reach that point. In degassing applications, vacuum is used to reduce the gas left in a substance. This gas can cause bubbles that could have an adverse effect on the product. Vacuum fixture Sometimes called a vacuum "chuck", this fixture uses vacuum to hold a flat workpiece securely in place with minimal risk of any damage.
