10 Service Tips Evaporator Service Tips Evaporator The evaporator and condenser are both designed to exchange heat. Heat is removed from the cab by the evaporator and released outside the cab by the condenser. Evaporator Location Coil Fins Inspect for Damage Operating Temperature Ensure Operability Temperature Change - Inlet to Outlet Evaporator Coil Service Tips The condenser is located on the high-pressure side of the system, while the evaporator is located on the low-pressure side. Make sure the coil fins are clean and free of debris and obstructions. Inspect for abrasions or damaged tubing. Straighten bent fins with fin comb. With the system running the evaporator will be cold to touch while the condenser will be hot to touch. Ensure the condenser fan is operable. The condenser will produce (5-15 C) temperature decreases from inlet to outlet, while the evaporator will return slight temperature increases from inlet to outlet. Notes 36
