2 Vent Connection Flue Collector ATMOSPHERIC GAS STORAGE WATER HEATER PVI AG series is a fully packaged atmospheric gas vertical fi retube water heater. Combustion occurs below the water storage tank and the hot combustion gases move upward through the fi retubes transferring heat into the stored water. Baffl es in the fi retubes create turbulence in the gases, forcing more frequent contact with the tube walls and helping to raise thermal effi ciency to 80%. The castiron and brass burner is equipped with spark ignition and a fl ame safeguard. Water temperature and burner operation are controlled by submerged upper and lower operating thermostats and a submerged high limit control. The storage tank is constructed and stamped in accordance with the ASME code and is available in two confi gurations; 100% duplex alloy construction or carbon steel lined with POLYSHIELD PVDF fluoropolymer and fitted with fire tubes. AG series is fully insulated and jacketed and meets the latest ASHRAE standards for effi ciency and standby heat loss. Competitors fi nned-tube water heaters must be plumbed to a sidearm tank and require a pump to circulate water between these two components. Operating the pump can consume a few hundred dollars per year of electricity. AG series saves owners this hidden cost. Less Costly and Simpler Installation Tank and fi nned-tube water heating systems are often fi eld assembled. Frequently overlooked in the purchase price is the cost of the copper pipe, fi ttings, valves and labor required to connect the heater and tank. If the tank-to-heater piping is improperly sized or designed, it may impact the pump s ability to provide the proper fl ow through the heat exchanger and affect performance and longevity. If a low-temperature by-pass pipe is omitted, damage from condensation can also shorten the life of the heat exchanger. AG series installation is far easier with water connections made only at the hot and cold connections, drain and relief valve. As a tank-type heater, it is also less prone to condensing.

Long-Life Tube Joint The tube sheets are drilled or water-jet cut, and the fi re tubes are rolled and robotically welded to the tube sheets. This is similar to the construction of ASME boilers. SCALEGUARD keeps the temperature of the furnace tube sheet below the critical ductile-to-brittle transition temperature by separating it from the heat of combustion. Because the tube sheet is not used as a heat transfer surface, scale buildup on the waterside has no heat trapping (and hence damaging) effect. In addition, because it s not a heat transfer surface, a buildup of scale on the tube sheet will not reduce thermal effi ciency. A few additional fi retubes compensate for the heating surface lost by insulating the tube sheet. Stronger than ordinary steel AquaPLEX is naturally resistant to corrosion in potable water and no additional material; such as copper cladding or glass lining is required. Corrosion-Proof, Low-Lead Bronze, Threaded Tank Fittings The fi rst advantage of this design is an inherently corrosion-proof fi tting where others use steel lined with glass or epoxy. Secondly, the design allows the POLY- SHELD lining to extend seamlessly through the opening to the outside of the tank, providing an uninterrupted barrier between the hot water and the steel vessel. In AquaPLEX tanks, no lining is required at all.

4 ... and tank materials so good that anode rods are not required. 100% Unlined Duplex Stainless Steel As an option, the storage tank, tube sheets and fi re tubes can be fabricated entirely from AquaPLEX, an engineered duplex stainless steel alloy. Unlike austenitic stainless; such as 316L, AquaPLEX contains the grain structures of both austenitic and ferritic stainless steels. This greatly improves the corrosion resistance of AquaPLEX over 316L because the ferritic grain struction provides immunity to chloride stress corrosion, which can destroy 316L when dissolved chlorides (salts) are present in the water being heated. Each layer is slush coated and oven cured. Because of their chemical stability and durability, fl uoropolymers are often used in ultra-pure water systems and perform remarkably well in potable hot water applications. The tanks are lined after all welding is fi nished and, because lining coverage is complete with no steel exposed, no anode rods are needed.
