1 Units S1 - S6 - XB & xtract fans with Recovery Installati and Maintenance The MC Directive 2014/30/U The ow Voltage directive 2014/35/U. Packaged and xtract fans with Recovery The units comprise of an extract and supply fan with associated air filter, a plate heat exchanger and optial supplementary heater (either electric or PHW). The unit is normally supplied with cosmart ctrol for automated operati. Units without ctrols are also available and are identified by the letters C after the unit size. The installer must select and fit suitable ctrol equipment to produce the desired output. This includes the valve, actuator and water circuit needed to ctrol any PHW coil fitted. 1.0 Coding The coding structure is: (e.g. S5 - XB - R) S 1-6-XB (C) - R/ - // Unit Size o Ctrol Opti Right or eft Handing lectric or PHW or o er 1.1 Handling Always handle the units carefully to avoid damage and distorti. Care must be taken to ensure that any slings used for hoisting or lifting equipment employed does not damage the casing or the ctrol module compents. 1.2 Unit Installati For systems which include supply fans with heating other than where the BMS (0-1) has ctrol, the appropriate user ctrol is required. The fan must be fitted indoors, a secure surface, away from sources of water spray or steam generati. The fan is installed by using drop-rods and bearers ( figure 1). Csiderati must be given when supporting the unit that access is still available for maintenance purposes and removal of filters. ote that the unit is ly suitable for horiztal mounting. 1.3 Access for Maintenance Compent locati (fig.2) A xtract Fan B Cdensate tray** C er D Filter* Fan and xchanger F Ctrols (if fitted) G xtract Filter * H Cdensate pipe A B * regular maintenance required. ** regular maintenance may be required (dependant installed cditis). Other compents are unlikely to need attenti a regular basis. Access space around the unit is recommended as being a minimum of 600mm. (see Approved Document F sectis 2.6, 2.7). Figure 2. Plan view: Maintenance access is from e side ly (Ctrol box side). Access to extract fan, PHW cnecti and cdensate drain is the opposite side. Discharge Right Hand C + uaire recommend that attenuators have breakout protecti and that flexible cnectors are fitted at inlet attenuator entry and outlet attenuator exit. It is the installers respsibility to ensure cnecti to the appropriate trap and drainage. If the cdensate tray is located at the inlet side of the fan (i.e. under negative pressure) then calculate the values of A & B as shown below. (and see fig. 5). A = Fan inlet pressure (mm H2O) +25mm (minimum). Allow 100mm for these units if pressure is unknown. B = A/2. (minimum). (ote: 10Pa = 1mm H2O). If the cdensate tray is located at the outlet side of the fan (i.e. under positive pressure) then calculate the values of A & B as shown below. A = 25mm (minimum). B = Fan outlet pressure (mm H2O) + 25mm (minimum). Allow 100mm for these units if pressure is unknown. Figure 5. Cdensate Trap. If more than 4 are required, the juncti box (product code S-JB) should be used (see data cable installati). Switch ive (S) terminal - A signal of a.c. will activate the fan (required at both PCB). ote that a signal from an isolating transformer will produce an unpredictable result and is not recommended. b) OP Hz 1A max supply to open the damper C Hz 1A max supply to close the damper - eutral supply to damper RT - 23 ac return signal from the damper limit switch indicates the damper has reached its operating positi. If the return signal is not present, the fan will wait for 1 minute before starting. ote: If a damper is not fitted, cnect a link wire from OP to RT. This will cancel the delay. c) Volt Free Relay Ctacts ote that the volt free ctacts are not fused. If these are used to power any external equipment, the installer must provide adequate fusing or other protectis. These ctacts are rated at 5A resistive, 0.5A inductive. - These ctacts are closed when the fan is running. - o fault = the ctacts are closed. = the ctacts are opened. demand - ctacts closed when heating is selected. ctinued page eaflet umber

3 d) Data Cable Installati A 4-core SV data cable is used to cnect. Do not run data cable in the same cduit as the mains cables and ensure there is a 50mm separati between the data cable and other cables. The maximum cable run between any two is 300m when it is installed in accordance with the instructis. Please note that the total data cable length used in any system must be less than 1000m. Keep the number of cable joints to a minimum to ensure the best data transmissi efficiency between. e) Maximum umber of Devices The maximum number of (including fans) that can be cnected together via the cable is 32, irrespective of their functis. f) Other ow Voltage Cables Follow the basic principle (as d). Keep the cable run as short as possible, less than 50 metres. Use screened cable if cable length is more than 2m. Wiring - Unit sizes S1-6-XB with cosmart fan ly ctrol. Figure 6.
