5 Feeding systems 5 Roxell develops, designs and manufactures feeding systems that help growers produce animal protein in the most cost-effective way. By choosing Roxell systems for your layer concept, you choose for the world s most innovative technologies in the rearing of pullets and/or the production of consumption eggs. Roxell systems are world renowned for their excellent durability, performance and production results. Maximum use of your floor space The oval shape of the feeders allows the commercial layers to optimally use the available house space while facilitating access to the drinking lines. Excellent control on the feed cost The unique and patented LaïCa and Poolaï with a high feed saver rim excludes practically all feed waste from the first day onwards. A handy adjustment ring allows a precise setting of the feed level. The incorporated feed trough in the bottom and the pan lock make sure that the feed remains in the central part of the pan. Pan locks on the tubes prevent the pans from swinging. Durable, easy to clean The pans can be fixed by clicking them on the grill or by means of a hinge. They are made from durable plastic that resists all common cleansing agents and detergents. The pans and the augers have a 10-year degressive warranty.

Poolaï serves up to 51 birds per pan (up to 71 birds per meter or 22 birds per ft feeding system). The feeder tubes can be used as perch while an anti-roost profile prevents the birds from soiling the pans. Optimal uniformity Poolaï distributes the feed evenly in all pans. The special wings on the cone stop the pullets from grubbing in the feed. Excellent start of your day-olds The low pan edge allows a smooth access to the feed. The 360 flooding keeps the Poolaï pans full of feed. The large feed surface offers optimal eating comfort.

In the EU LaïCa complies with the EU-standards and is KAT-approved. Outside the EU, LaïCa can serve up to 51 birds per meter. 9 9 Our solution for modular perch system for laying hens Modular and easy to assemble Le Roozzt adapts perfectly to the specific situation in your house. The universal connectors are made of plastic and guarantee a fast and easy assembly. Animal friendly and hygienic Le Roozzt has an open structure without sharp parts and offers the hens a comfortable place to sit. The different levels are easy to reach. The materials used repel injurious insects (red mites,...). Winchable, easy to clean The 2-high types of Le Roozzt can be winched up per set of 4 units. The reusable disc filter on the water panel keeps the water quality high and prevents the formation of a biofilm. The design of our drinking systems keeps your litter in optimal condition. The unique bird-friendly SPINsoft anti-roosting device eliminates the use of electro-guards, improving animal welfare. All parts are made of strong, durable materials resistant to all commonly used cleaning products and forceful flushing.

11 11 A nipple drinking system Swii Flo includes a whole range of plastic and metal nipples. Optimal hygiene The double-sealed nipples and the carefully designed breather unit prevent leakage, thus keeping the litter in optimal condition. The system provides easy, thorough flushing and precise administration of vaccines or medications using the exclusive Roxell flush controller. Bird-friendly design The one-armed drip cup offers the birds plenty of room to reach the nipple. All Swii Flo parts are designed to minimize any risk of bird injury. 13 13 Superior comfort and animal-welfare The spacious, oxygen-rich nest box guarantees maximum nest acceptance by commercial layers and parent stock. The perforated AstroTurf nest pads optimize air circulation and give the hens a natural feeling. A protected solid wood nest entrance avoids leg and breast injuries. There is no accumulation of droppings at the nest entrance. Careful egg handling The AstroTurf nest pads prevent cracks and soiled eggs. The perforations in the egg belt keep the eggs from rolling and bumping in to each other and optimize the temperatures in the egg channel. A smooth open transition between the egg belt and the cross conveyor or collecting table avoids hair cracks and removes any dirt, droppings or feathers. 21 21 Our customers Hendrick De Baets In the early seventies, commercial layer farming underwent a tremendous expansion in Europe. The emergence of the battery cage enabled poultry farmers to accommodate more birds in the houses, thereby boosting the productivity of their farms. It was also at this time that Hendrick De Baets s father started breeding battery cage layers in Oosteeklo (Belgium). Hendrick took over the mixed farm in He keeps a total of 8,000 laying hens in 2 houses. In 1999, following the legal ban on battery cages, the latter disappeared and Hendrick switched to floor housing. The houses, from feed bin to feeding and drinking system, are equipped with Roxell systems: Laïca pans, Sparkcup as drinking system, a Koozii nest, perches, feed bin, Flex Auger as transport system and a Roxell controller. Roxell is an established name in the market, I have full confidence in the quality of the equipment. There s hardly any spillage and we achieve a production of 90% with a very limited amount of waste, with virtually no broken or dirty eggs, says Hendrick De Baets.

22 22 Patrick Claeys Patrick Claeys and Bea Bollaert took over the breeder rearing farm from his parents 20 years ago. From a very early age Patrick became familiar with the ins and outs of a poultry farm. Bea kept her job in agricultural education, acting as a source of useful knowledge for the farm. The farm is located in Aarsele (Belgium) and combines different activities: arable farming, fattening pigs, and poultry. At the start-up in 1970, the poultry house accommodated 6,000 breeder birds. The house was fitted with rearing battery cages in Following the ban on such battery cages, Patrick switched to commercial layers in 2012 and had the entire house laid out for floor housing with Roxell equipment: from drinking system (Sparkcup) to feeding system (Laïca), a double community nest (Koozii), the transport system (Flex Auger) and a controller. The 3,000 organic layers have permanent access to an outdoor run. In fact, organic layers as a rule have an outdoor run of 4m² per bird. Durable systems for outstanding results At the start-up, Patrick picked up quite a few tips from the Roxell experts. These enabled him to make optimal use of the feeding and drinking systems. The results of the past two flocks exceed all expectations. We achieve a 97% peak in egg production. When collecting the first flock at an age of 76 weeks, the laying percentage was still 87%; the second flock ended at 80 weeks with 83%. Our feed consumption varies between 134 and 138 g. And the financial results are equally impressive, says a satisfied Patrick Claeys. The quality of the feeder pans and the drinking system is unique. The large volume of the Koozii nest gives an extra boost to the egg production. A convinced Roxell ambassador We regularly visit open days of poultry farms, but we remain firmly convinced of the added value of Roxell. If I were 10 years younger and the continuity of the farm ensured, I would immediately add a second house.

23 Lydie Boussin 23 In 2010 Lydie Boussin s dream started to become a reality: having her own layer hen farm in Pers-en-Gâtinais (Loiret department of France), the region where she was born. After a long red-tape wait, the first 6000 layers arrived at the brand new house on September 12, Roxell as a total solution The house is 91 m long and 14 m wide and was fully equipped with Roxell systems: 250 Laïca pans, the Sparkcup as drinking system, a Koozii nest, the Le Roozzt perch system, and Flex Auger as transport system. The results are excellent: an average egg production of 85% with a peak of 94% during the first flock. Feed waste is also reduced to a minimum. The unique patented Laïca with its high anti-waste rim prevents virtually any feed waste from day one, resulting in perfect feeding of the layers. Roxell distributor MEF advised Lydie on the use of light schemes and the ideal feeding times to reduce stress in the birds. Knowledge-driven growth Expansion of the farm is not an immediate ambition. Lydie s prime concern is to learn more about the sector and gather even more knowledge about the management of a layer house. She also gets great satisfaction from promoting agricultural life in schools. Young people do not always see the importance of the agricultural sector. I find it an exciting challenge to introduce them to our profession and familiarize them with the day-today operations of a farming business.
