6 APPLIANCE INSTALLATION UNPACKING THE FIRE Carefully remove the appliance from the carton, taking special care with any ceramic components. Remove all loose item packaging and check for all components which should include: 1 x Firebox with burner assembly 1 x Box containing ceramic components. 1 x Installation and User Instruction manual 1 x Loose parts pack including: 1 x Strip of floor sealing tape 1 x Inlet T connector 1 x Grommet for rear of firebox 4 x Woodscrews 6 x Fibre/wooden plugs 4 x Eyebolts 2 x Tension cables 2 x Cable adjusters 1 x Foam Seal 2 x Fascia fixing screws 1 x Battery (ezi-slide model only) GAS CONNECTION A concealed gas connection is recommended. If concealed pipework is required then steps must be taken to extend the supply line so that it enters the firebox through the supply hole at the bottom right hand side. The pipe should run through the supply hole and to the inlet T connector towards the front of the fire. Please ensure that the supply pipework does not encroach on the space required to fit the firebox into the fire opening. The inlet T connector features a valve for isolating the gas supply and a pressure test point. After installation, connect a suitable pressure test gauge to the pressure test point on the inlet T. With the fire lit check that the supply pressure is 20 ±1.5mbar. Disconnect the pressure gauge and check for gas soundness. PREPARING THE APPLIANCE Take the burner unit out of the fire box by removing the two screws and gently lifting away (Fig. 1). If the fire is an ezi-slide model then the slide mechanism must be disconnected first see page 14 of this manual for details. REMOVE 2 SCREWS Fit the foam seal to the rear of the firebox side and top flanges. Carefully measure and cut each piece ensuring that it is not overstretched and that there are no gaps where each piece of foam meet. A complete seal must be achieved around the three flanges. Fig. 1 6

7 APPLIANCE INSTALLATION INSTALLING THE FIREBOX There are two options of fixing the firebox into the fire opening/fireplace surround. Option 1 - Front Fixing Offer the firebox into the opening ensuring that the supply pipe is correctly positioned. When the firebox is in the intended position of installation make a mark through the holes indicated on Fig. 2. Carefully remove the firebox and drill and plug the fireplace where previously marked using a correctly sized masonry bit and the fibre plugs supplied. Re-position the firebox into the fireplace and secure using 4 woodscrews, tightening to seal the firebox to the fireplace. Option 2 - Cable Fixing Using Fig. 3, mark out the four positions indicated on the back of the fire opening. Drill each mark using a suitable masonry bit and fit the fibre plugs supplied. Securely screw the eye bolts into the plugs Position the firebox in front of the fire opening, allowing enough space behind the appliance for access to the fire opening and fitting of the cables. At this stage, if a concealed gas connection is required, feed the supply pipe through the hole at the bottom at the rear of the firebox. Locate the holes to the sides of the convection channel and fit the cables as shown in Fig. 4. Give the cables a sharp pull so that they grip the firebox. Thread the cables through the top eye bolts, then the bottom eyebolts, and then feed them into the holes at the bottom of the back face of the fire box (see Fig. 5). Fig. 2 Fig. 3 Fig. 4 FIXING LOCATIONS Reposition the firebox into the opening and push against the fireplace ensuring a seal against the foam strips on the rear of the firebox flanges. Fit a cable retainer over each cable and, pulling the cables taught, push the retainers into the holes that the cables run through. Tighten the screws in the cable retainers so that they clamp onto the cables. Hand turn the adjustment screws on the retainers to apply tension to the cables. 7 INITIAL CABLE RETENTION LOCATION

8 APPLIANCE INSTALLATION Do not over tighten the cables. Check that there are no gaps around the foam strips. Using the sealing tape supplied, create a seal between the bottom face of the firebox and the fireplace floor. Reposition the burner and secure with the two screws previously removed. Connect the supply line to the appliance. Turn on the gas supply and pressure test the pipework installation for soundness according to current standards. Fig. 5 FUEL BED ASSEMBLY Carefully unpack all of the ceramic components and position them onto the burner in the following sequence. Take the one-piece ceramic coal front and gently place it in front of the ceramic burner (factoryclamped to the burner tray).
