2 Important InstallationNotes forair Conditioners Mounting Styles: Both thru mount and flushmount unitscan bepositioned in anyorientationand on any enclosure surface. Itis important toconsider interior airflowpatterns whendeterminingthe mountinglocation. Alsoof importance isan unrestricted flowof ambient air thruthe hotside heat exchanger. Ease of access andinspection must be considered forthoseapplications in particularly severe environments which may require occasional maintenance. Vertical (Side/Front/Back) Mounting: Verticalmounting refers to the vertical direction of the cold side or interior finsand isrecommendedfor applications withhigh humidity, poorand incomplete cabinet seals or any condition which may cause thecold side finsto bemaintained attemperatures below the dewpoint for longperiods of time allowing for the formation of condensation. The vertical fin direction provides adrip path whereupon condensation canbe collected via amoisture removal system(standard on FHP-units)or adrip pan positioned below the coldside fins. Drip pansare optional for thrumount units. Ambient Air Path Enclosure InternalAir Path Seal CondensateRemoval System: All FHP-SeriesandAHP-1400 air conditioners contain abuilt-in condensateremoval system. The condensatekit consists of a antifungal sponge with acondensate wick. PVCtubingis alsoprovided for drainage. Drippansare optional for thrumountunits which must beevaluated onan individualbasis. Equations defining arelationshipbetween the cold side fin and enclosure temperatures are provided to assist in theevaluation. Top Mounting: Thoughoften the easiest location tomount it is often the mostdifficult to protect from condensation inthisorientation due to the fin orientation,gravityand anysusceptiblecomponentsbelow. If adrip panisemployed by the end userusecautionto place the panfar enough awayfrom the internal fan tominimize therestriction ofairflow.the pan should coverthefin ends as well as the fanarea. When there isachoice, thevertical orientation ispreferred bymost users. Maintenance: Since the technologyis solid-state,there are nofilters,compressors,orfluorocarbons tomaintain. The only movingpartsare the fans. It isrecommended forharsh or dirtyenvironmentsthat the heatsinks be cleaned from timeto time. Thiscan be accomplishedbydirecting compressed air over the external fins or on NEMA4versions byhosing theunit down. This will increasethe overall life andperformanceof the system. Cautions: Take care when mounting not to damagethe seal between thehot and coldside sinks. Do not attempt to mount aunit to a warpedsurfaceor tryto make the units mountingsurface conformtoan unflat surface. Do not pinch ordamage anyleadswhen mounting. Donot over tighten anyinstallation screw, use reasonableforce. Alwaysmount withany condensate drain down. Do notcompress thecold side between the hot side and any other surface. Do not obstruct theairflowon either side. When mounting consider the natural air flows ofthe enclosure. Connect power onlyafterthe installation is complete. Notes on condensation: Condensationoccursat thecold side finswhenthe surface temperature goes below the dew point. Toreduceorremove condensate, considerthe following: Regulate thefintemperature above thedewpoint. Keep Enclosure Closed and Sealed fromoutside Humidity. Use Desiccant (Moisture absorbing Granules.)
