16 OPTIMUM POWER OUTPUT OF ZEMOS SOLAR BOILERS FOR MAXIMUM COST SAVINGS 1. THE NO. OF ZEMOS SOLAR BOILERS INSTALLED SHOULD BE AS SUCH, THAT THEIR OUPUT POWER UNDER OPTIMUM SUN RADIATION CONDITIONS SHOULD BE ABLE TO COVER 100% OF THE POWER NEEDS. EXCESS SOLAR POWER IS NOT COST EFFECTIVE. 2. THEREFORE FOR ADDING ZEMOS SOLAR WATER BOILERS TO AN EXISTING WATER BOILER POWERED BY GAS, OIL OR ELECTRICITY SIMPLY INSTALL THE REQUIRED NO. OF ZEMOS SOLAR WATER BOILERS TO APPROXIMATELY MATCH THE OUTPUT POWER (BTU/H, KW) OF THE EXISTING WATER BOILER, PROVIDED THAT IT WAS SUFFICIENT TO COVER THE NEEDS. 3. 17 EXTREME CLIMATE CONDITIONS 1. Extreme Sun Radiation in Tropical and Subtropical Countries Since the water in Zemos Solar Water Boilers can easily reach the boiling point, a motorized roller shutter cover of the sun radiation heat absorber glass tubes should be installed using the Zemos PLC-1010 for automatic control. The Zemos Solar Water Boiler is equipped with a security valve which will open, if the pressure in the boiler will exceed 6 bar or the water temperature 99 C/210 F, but it is obviously not desirable to produce steam, unless the customer is operating a steam bath. On the other hand it is possible to operate the Zemos Solar Boiler as a stand alone boiler in hot countries by installing one or two 1.5 KW Zemos ZIH immersion heaters supplied as an accessory for days without sunshine. The ZIH-1500 heater has a built-in thermostat which will switch on the heater, in case that the water temperature is dropping below a set temperature (factory setting: 30 C/85 F switch off temperature). 2. Extreme Cold The liquid in the heat pipes of the Zemos Solar Water Boiler will freeze at - 40 C/ -40 F. For the prevention of freezing in the boiler tank the 1.5 KW Zemos ZIH-1500 immersion heater can be used as well by adjusting the switch off temperature to e.g. 4 C/ 40 F. The input and output pipes need to be well insulated and heating cables as from BriskHeat of Columbus, Ohio need to be installed to prevent freezing of the pipes to and from the water boiler.

19 ZEMOS ZIH-1500 IMMERSION HEATER This heater with an output power of 1.5 KW comes in a 230V AC, 50Hz and a 110V AC, 60Hz version The heater has a built in solid state thermostat which can be set between 4 40 C ( F), where the heater will switch on, if the water temperature will fall below the set trigger temperature (see blue potentiometer marked with a red arrow on the right photo, showing the electronics). A version with a fixed switch on temperature (e.g. 4 C (35 F) can be supplied as well.
