6 6 SCITEQ thermo tanks SCITEQ thermo tanks are primarily used for immersing pipe samples in water at accurately controlled temperatures during hydrostatic pressure tests. The tanks can also be used for conditioning any other type of sample requiring controlled t e m p e r a t u r e. high accuracy temperature control customer tailored solutions minimal energy loss Tanks can be supplied in almost any requested dimensions with or without lids of various configurations. All SCITEQ thermo tanks are designed in such a way to allow easy maintenance; heating elements, pumps, valves and temperature sensors can all be removed without the need to drain the tank of water. 7 SCITEQ end closures SCITEQ end closures are produced for pipes and fittings to be used for internal hydrostatic pressure testing. This combination of material has been selected for corrosion resistance, durability and weight. Aluminium bronze is used for the of large ship propeller screws, it has five times the strength of ordinary aluminium. End closures without a tie bar and with a tie bar are produced for pipes and fittings in PE, PEX, PVC, PP, ABS etc. End closures are produced with a specific depth from O-ring to the internal bottom which ensures that even on chamfered and oval PE-pipes, the end closure is tight while pressurising. The pressure station is started while the airing-out screw is open. When the sample is completely aired out, the test can be started. O-rings are produced from EDPM as for our other end closures. It is a unique system that can be used for both PVC, PP and PE pipes up to 100 bar. The top end closure is delivered with a 1/8" male connection and supplied with key operated bleed valves. 8 8 SCITEQ HCP testing system SCITEQ 2000 HCP high capacity pressure testing system is able to test large pipe samples require high capacity pressure testing equipment. To accommodate this we have expanded the SCITEQ2000 range with our latest HCP system. This new dynamic pressure testing system is, dependant on pipe expansion, capable of pressure testing large PE pipe samples up to 3000 mm. high accuracy pressure control customer tailored solutions testing of large PE pipe samples high level dynamic control high quality components easily accessible service components The SCITEQ-2000HCP50 includes a pump system supplying up to 100 l/min at max. 50 bar pressure and a unique control system with two individual pressure stations and software. All together the system is very capable of fulfilling the test standards on these large pipe samples. The high capacity axial piston pump, valves, hoses, buffer etc. are state-of-the-art water hydraulic components from the most respected suppliers in the world. The SCITEQ-2000 HCP50 series is built up as a stand-alone system incorporating a pressure source, two individual pressure outlets and a control system in one unit. The unit contains a pressure pump and reservoir system which gives two regulated pressure sources of 50Bar and up to 100l/min as maximum. Due to the high water flow there is a 450litre stainless steel tank mounted as water reservoir to prevent the pump from running dry should water source fail for up to 4 minutes. When the water level falls below maximum level water is automatically refilled into the tank. Each station is operated using a dedicated controller unit. A large number of parameters can be viewed/adjusted. The most commonly used parameters have been grouped together and placed in a quick menu. 9 SCITEQ dynamic pressure testing The heart of the SCITEQ dynamic pressure testing system is a large capacity hydraulic cylinder piston which is driven by ball screw via servo drive; this provides positive closed loop control of the pressure. With this system sinusoidal and trapezoidal tests can be performed up to 1Hz cycle time. unique touch screen solution quality product flexible test setup high test accuracy A central control panel with industrial 15 touch screen PC gives the operator access to all variable test parameters. There are individual cycle counts for each sample. The system controls and monitors test parameters and provides warnings and in appropriate cases system shut down when parameters are exceeded. Full data logging of the test is supplied as standard. Up to three samples can be connected at one time, which all experience the same test conditions. The test can be paused to add samples to the manifold. If a sample fails that individual sample will be locked from the test, the operator can choose to finish testing the rest of the samples or add a new sample and resume testing. The software platform is based on Microsoft XP Prof. As soon as the operator has entered a few values and which test to be performed it is ready to start a test. The software allows real time logging of the test and generation of test report. All data is saved in ASCII allowing it to be imported into for example Microsoft Excel. Individual leakage detection and testing temperature is standard when optional heating ovens are ordered. The system consists of three individual cyclic pressure systems. One for static, one for sinus and one for trapeze pressure testing of hoses. This gives a totally flexible system that can run three different tests at the same time. 10 10 SCITEQ B50 impact tester The SCITEQ B50 impact tester has been designed to be a versatile production test unit for the pipe industry. It has been developed in conjunction with major European pipe manufacturers. automatic settings speed measuring unique design time saving high quality material perfect sealing The heart of this machine is the unique principle with which the weight is lifted to its release position, SCITEQ holds full patents on this vacuum system. The vacuum method has several advantages to its alternatives enabling extremely fast repeat of tests of up to 15 strokes/minute. The weights can be exchanged in seconds. All parameters are selected in seconds using the user -friendly control panel. The sample is placed in the V-block adjusted for the diameter of the specific sample being tested. The weight can now be released and test repeated as desired. The system has built in impact speed measurement to prove the falling velocity of each test. cost-effectively as possible with Q.C. tools throughout Weights between 0,250 kg and 16 kg can be used, the machine is the only machine in the market to obtain the correct falling weight velocity. The machine can be supplied with 2,3 or 4 meters impact height. The safety while using a SCITEQ B50 impact tester is also second to none. First of all the vacuum system secures that if the power fails while a weight is in the machine, the weight will fall very slowly down like a parachute due to the vacuum pump stopping slowly, when power is removed. The SCITEQ B50 impact tester is the only production testing machine produced which can be used as a fully instrumented machine. This is achieved by the addition of wireless instrumented weights and a PC program. This allows the machine unrivalled flexibility as both a production and development tool. 11 SCITEQ 0 degree tank - classic/design The SCITEQ 0 C conditioning tank is often required for impact testing and for the RCP small scale test where the test specimen must be conditioned at 0 C. 12 12 SCITEQ heating oven SCITEQ heating ovens are produced in order to carry out dimension stability test, accelerated ageing or pressure test with temperatures above 95 C. The ovens can also be used for conditioning any other type of sample requiring a high level of temperature control. high accuracy temperature control minimal energy loss Standard ovens are supplied with a control accuracy of +/- 2 C as for PVC pipes however, the capacity of the oven is 20 C to 250 C as standard. A high accuracy control with +/- 0,5 C is also supplied, but quoted separately. The heating ovens can on request be made so that they can go up to 280 C or even up to 300 C. SCITEQ oven can be placed directly on a table, or it can be supplied with a frame, depending of size. Temperature is easily adjusted on the front panel, by means of a digital control panel. Temperature can be set with an accuracy of 0,1 C. On the control panel you still see both actual temperature and set-temperature. Also control hysteresis can be adjusted with an accuracy of 0,1 C. 13 SCITEQ methylene chloride cabinet The gelation of PVC is one of the most important product quality considerations. It has an influence on impact strength and resistance to internal pressure. There are various methods to determine the gelation level in PVC pipes and profiles; the most common one is to use Methylene chloride according to various standards (e.g. the DIN standard no ). With the MCT test you test PVC on a precision milled surface, commonly in two different temperatures. The oblique front is provided with inspection windows that can be opened. The opening movement is performed by means of hand, activated manually but eased by means of a contra weight system, that makes the window glide very easily up. When it is open, the operator has free access to the table top and to the Methylene chloride tank, both of which are made of stainless steel. In order to ease access to the internal tanks, the lid of the tanks folds in the middle. In addition the cabinet is provided with exhaust fan, cooling compressor, heating element, and liquid mixer. A sample drainage area with water to clean the sample is provided. The sample tank itself is protected by a linear activated insulated lid, the bath is constantly agitated and temperature is maintained automatically. There is a fume exhaust which needs to be routed either to a central evacuation system or to an outside area according to local regulations in force. The control includes auto timing and lifting of test specimens on completion. The samples are lifted from the tank using the same linear system that opens the lid. 15 SCITEQ axial notch milling The SCITEQ axial notch milling machine is developed for samples preparation of PE pipes according to EN, CEN, British and Irish standards, also known as the Notched Stress Crack Resistance Test. The application is for testing stress crack resistance on PE pipes at 80 o C +/- 1 o C. high precision milling time saving accessory high safety level easy handling unique clamping system SCITEQ produces the axial notching milling machine with a precision second to none. The machine is constructed to perform a notch at 60 o; 76.2 x 12.5 x 25.4 mm double right angle milling cut at 700 rpm, at a speed of 150 mm per minute at a controlled depth in the pipe wall. The cutter itself must not have been used on any other material and must be replaced before 100 m of notching. The rotation of the notch is constructed in a way that it cuts from the surface of the pipe and downwards towards the top of the notch. The pipe is clamped using two pneumatic cylinders which hold a solid clamping rod which is passed through the centre of the pipe to be milled. The milling travel speed can be adjusted from the minimum allowable to the maximum allowable rates. Centering of the pipe is extremely important, and easily done by means of the pipe clamping fixtures. Safety has been upgraded on the to secure that it is not possible to touch the cutter during the notching. The cutter moves up from below to the fixed pipe sample without any possibility for the operator to manually touch the cutter. The machine has a light built into the milling area for observation. 16 16 SCITEQ RCP small scale SCITEQ RCP small-scale steady-state test (S4 test) is developed for determination of arrest or propagation of a crack initiated in a thermoplastic pipe intended for the supply of gases or liquids at a specific temperature and internal pressure. Each tool kit includes anvil, striker blade, containment cage spacers and decompression baffles. The specified test temperature and pressure is measured and shown on the control panel. Due to the unique design of end closures and containment cage it is fast and easy to change to another pipe size and/or SDR. Using a stroke cylinder at high air pressure ensures maximum energy at impact point. The SCITEQ RCP is designed with main focus on speed of use, accuracy, sturdy solid, and flexibility in use. Rapid decompression ahead of the propagating crack is retarded by internal baffles and by an external cage which restricts flaring of the test pipe at the edges of the fracture. The test pipe is subsequently easily examined to determine whether arrest or propagation of the crack has occurred. 17 SCITEQ thermal cycling - micro SCITEQ TC micro system is designed to subject pipe samples including fittings to cyclic temperature shocks while under pressure in order to simulate real life conditions pipe systems have to endure in hot and cold water pipe systems installed in buildings. high accuracy temperature control automatic water flow control superior flexibility high accuracy pressure control automatic energy saving system touch panel-pc The SCITEQ TC micro system can have up to four pipe sample strings connected at one time, these being dependant on the sample diameter. The system is unique in that it uses pressurised vessels containing the hot and cold water supplies, thus allowing a minimal use of energy and water compared to typical open systems. This apparatus can consist of more identical "micro" systems meaning that up to four pipe sample strings can be tested in each micro system independent from the others. The water flow speed is automatically controlled using our Automatic water flow speed control by means of the output signal from the flow sensors mounted in each pipe sample string - A unique SCITEQ feature. An Automatic energy saving system controlled by the SCITEQ PLC control system delays hot water flow to the cold water pressure vessel and visa versa during hot and cold water cycle changeover. The complete TC micro system is operated from a unique SCITEQ 15 control touch panel-pc. 18 18 SCITEQ conditioning chamber Impact tests and RCP (Rapid Crack Propagation) tests often require test specimens to be conditioned at 0 degree C or below. This conditioning chamber is capable of cooling samples up to very large dimensions, with a temperature range from room temperature down to 25 degrees C. The testing equipment can by choosing the right dimension of conditioning chamber be placed inside the chamber. The chamber is a modular system which can be supplied in various sizes. It takes only about 2-4 hours for two men to set it up, depending on size. The SCITEQ conditioning chamber is built up of 15 mm extra strengthened floor (floor point loading up to 150kg/wheel). The panels are made of 0,6 mm galvanised polyester treated plates internal and external. The doors are equipped with heat in the frame and door step. There is a pressure release valve in the door element for easy opening. The chambers are constructed from individual dividing panels and through corner panels. This gives very great sizing flexibility. 19 SCITEQ copy milling machine The SCITEQ copy milling machine is especially developed for the shaping of plastic samples, for tensile tests, and other kinds of elongation tests. simple set-up high precision milling robust easy maintenance Our intention was to produce a machine which can be used with the minimum of skill and training. The result is an extremely simple to operate unit. The machine consists of a solid base frame with a 2 axis linear movement milling top. A template is mounted on the machine which provides the profile for the sample. Operator control is via an integrated panel at the front of the machine. A suitable template should be installed in the machine which provides the profile for the sample, these can be supplied to all dumbbell sample standards. The sample is secured to the turntable using a support bar located with 2 nuts. The depth of cut can be adjusted and the max. depth of the rough pass milling depth is 4mm. The actual milling depth can be set using the dial gauge. When getting closer to the desired size, the milling depth should be reduced thus typically only removing 0.1mm each pass which ensures the best surface finish for the sample. This is critical for obtaining correct results from the tensile test itself. The system can be supplied with a vacuum device which removes the milling swarf into a storage bag. 20 20 SCITEQ laboratory saw SCITEQ S laboratory saw is designed to allow preparation of samples for use in various test methods. The apparatus makes a parallel cut and can also chamfer the finished edge. As an alternative, the machine can be made for up to Ø 800 mm pipes. On the longitudinal basis there is a scale with a stop so that all dimensions of samples can be placed against this and cut in various lengths. The entire top of the machine is moved down using a hydraulic press system and secures thereby a stable basis for the sample. At the same time the cutter is protected in the chassis of the machine until the top cover has moved down on the sample. First the sample is secured with the hydraulic press system, and then the cutter is manually moved up to cut the sample. If the edge of the sample needs to be chamfered, this is done by pulling the cutter a bit further up. A chamfer milling head of Ø 180 mm is attached to the cutter and this will then chamfer the newly cut sample. The uncertainty of this method is often quite significant even when using skilled labour. However, placing the sample on the V- block with the gauge placed on a measuring arm in a fixed position, reduces the uncertainty to an absolute minimum. The sample is manually rotated on the V- block and manual registration is done on the microprocessor attached to the digital gauge. The apparatus consists of a V-block that can handle elements of up to 1000 mm long with a diameter between 20 and 630 mm and a wall thickness of max. 12, 30 or 50 mm dependant on the chosen gauge. With the processor the apparatus can satisfy almost any need of information required. When coding for example the min. and max. tolerances you can make up to 999 measurements within one tolerance degree. These can be followed by a print-out with date and time, initials of the person who made the measurements, number of measurements, tolerance degrees, measurements above and below the tolerances, % of deviation, and margin of errors. 22 22 SCITEQ laboratory granulator The SCITEQ laboratory granulator is designed for preparation of samples for MFI test and other small granulating jobs. It is aimed at manufacturers of thermoplastic products with a need to test the melt flow index not only on raw materials, but increasingly also on the granulated finished products. table model high precision granulation robust easy maintenance The machine is a small table top model, easy to operate, with manual feeding. 23 SCITEQ bulk density tester The SCITEQ apparent density tester is intended for determination of powder or granulate density, bulk density factor and pourability of plastics materials. simple set-up compact easy maintenance high accuracy quality product With this apparent density tester and a laboratory weight accurate to 0,1g enables you to determine the apparent density i.e. the mass per unit of volume of loose material (powder or granulate) that can be poured from the funnel. When the method is applied to relative coarse materials, rather variable results may be obtained, owing to the error introduced when a straightedge blade is drawn across the top of the cylinder. A knowledge of apparent density is of limited value in estimating the relative fluffiness or bulk of moulding materials, unless their densities in the moulded condition are approximately the same.
