2 Excellence in process temperature control Piovan fluid circulating temperature controllers have been designed to provide accurate temperature control of moulds, extruder screws, barrels, calibrators, pressure vessels or hydraulic oil. Precise temperature control will guarantee to keep the process within tight tolerances and produce high quality finished products with perfect surface finish and dimensional stability. Compact dimensions, stainless steel tanks, internal reservoirs and couplings, high capacity peripheral pumps and electronic control board unify Piovan temperature controllers performance to the top. Piovan temperature controllers have been designed with energy saving features and cover a wide range of applications and temperatures. Piovan temperature controllers use water or heat transfer oil as the circulating media. The range also includes units with direct cooling, to provide a considerable increase in the cooling capacity and enable operation at lower temperatures than when using indirect cooling. TW, TO, TP temperature controller The TP 3, TP 6 and Speedy Therm models use pressurised water circuits and can be operated to 125 (Speedy Therm) and 140 (TP 3 and TP 6). The models TW 9 to TW 12 (water) and TO 6 (oil) have immersion pumps to eliminate breakdown due to pump seal leakage and the necessity to replace pump seals. All water tanks are stainless steel to avoid corrosion and are fitted with low watt density heaters and large surface area finned heat exchangers to achieve maximum cooling capacity. Units are supplied with low fluid level alarm, high and low temperature deviation alarm and leakage alarm. TO: complete accessibility

3 Accurate temperature control All Piovan units are supplied with PID control system which controls both heating and cooling functions. The PID instrument adapts itself to the process and updates all the information continually in order to eliminate fluctuation of temperature, both during the heating and cooling cycle to an accuracy of within ±0.4. All control parameters and required functions can be pre-set on the control panel. All warning signals and fault alarms are displayed on the control unit. Temperature control system Required heating capacity can be pre-selected on the control panel and is available in 3 stages (TW 9 and TO 6). The multi-frequency function is particularly convenient during the initial heating up phase, to get the mould to the required temperature in a short time. All models except for Speedy Therm can be supplied with double serial interface RS 485, which can be used to interface the controller with the processing machine controls or with a supervisory system and it allows for the management of two or more temperature control units via one single connection to the IMMs. Leak-stopper mode All units except for Speedy Therm and ID models are supplied with reversible high capacity pumps. In the event of a leak developing, the pump rotation can be reversed on the control board to allow the process to continue until the batch is completed. (Note: on TP 3 and TP 6 models, the leak-stopper mode can only be used up to 80.) TP: peripheral pump

4 Temperature controllers TW, TO and TP, Speedy Therm The innovative Speedy Therm Ideally suited for small injection moulding machines, the Speedy Therm temperature controller ensures quick and precise mould temperature control. The unit holds a small quantity of water in a pressurised circuit and can quickly heat moulds up to a temperature of 125 using small amounts of energy.
