3 EU regulation on the energy labelling of professional refrigerators and freezers Regulation framework In order to reduce the energy consumption in the European Union and to support the sale of energy-efficient appliances, the European ommission has issued the regulation 201/109 Energy labelling of professional refrigerators and freezers and 201/109 Ecodesign requirements for professional refrigerators and freezers effective from 1 July After this date certain appliances that are designed for the storage of food in a commercial environment will have to be labelled with an energy label. The label shows the energy classification between classes A and G, the energy consumption in kwh/year, the net capacity in litres as well as the climate class, for which the appliance is designed. Excepted from the labelling obligation are static appliances, fridge-freezers, chest freezers as well as appliances used for sales promotion. The one-piece unit cover combined with the membrane control panel is designed with eff ective and time-saving cleaning in mind. Precision electronic control systems and the high-quality refrigeration components ensure maximum energy efficiency. Visual and audible door alarms alert the user to any excessive rise in temperature and loss of cold air. Integrated pressure relief valve for easy opening of the door. In conjunction with highly effi cient compressors, the environmentally friendly refrigerant is highly eff ective and energy-effi cient. Demand-responsive hot gas defrost system reduces defrost time to approx. 10 minutes and lowers the energy input. Serial bus interface and volt-free contact enable networking with central monitoring and alarm systems.
