3 .. Connection and startup Unpack the unit and remove the wooden platform on the base as shown in Fig. (p.) - does not apply to equipment stowed in crates Fig. Removing wooden platform. Unscrew the legs from the platform. - Remove the wooden platform. - Screw the legs into the nuts welded to the unit s frame Remove the protective film from the elements of the cabinet (such as inside the machine, display drawers, front fender) If the unit reaches the user partially disassembled for protection during transport, do the following:. Install glass shelves Fig./;6 (p.6) or Fig. /;7 (p.). Shelves should be placed on silicon bumpons securing the glass elements in place.. Install the front glass pane Fig./ (p.6) or Fig. /8 (p.). Install night shutters Fig./; (p.). (Applies to Beata only) Replace the cover of the (upper) lamp s cord Fig. / (p.). The lamp cord cover should be thrust over the rear of the glass side, so that the cord extending from the lamp is hidden in the cover and is on the inside of the glass side!. Place a condensate tray as per Fig.6/ (p.)(does not apply to units with an evaporator!) The first washing of the unit should be carried out after unpacking the unit and before it is first started. The unit should be cleaned with water at a temperature not exceeding 0 C with added neutral cleaning agents. Using substances containing various variants of chlorine and sodium for washing and cleaning the unit is forbidden, as they destroy the protective film and the unit s components! Any residual glue or silicone on metal components should only be removed with petroleum ether (does not apply to plastic elements!). Do not use any other organic solvents. Do not use waterjets when cleaning the unit. The unit should be cleaned with a damp cloth Once the installation is complete, the unit should be left to stand for at least hours prior to startup (applies to units with built-in compressors), so that the oil level stabilizes, which will prevent problems when starting the chiller! WARNING: Protect the refrigerant circuit from damage! Plug the connection cord directly into the socket (do not connect the unit via extension cords or splitters!) Mains sockets (optional) may be used to power the cash registers, scales and other receivers with a power not exceeding 00W! 5 Fig.6 Condensate tray (version without evaporator) - Drain hose from the pan (drains condensate from defrosted evaporator) - Condensate tray (empty the condensate!!!) Fig.7 Unit control panel - Main switch (turns on/off the unit s generator) - Lighting switch - Thermostat panel (temperature controller) (operating details in Chapter 7 p.9 or 0). OPERATION The temperature of the cooled space and the unit s cycle work may fluctuate. They depend on many factors, e.g. the quantity and temperature of the inserted products and the ambient temperature. Place the unit in a dry place away from the sun, which is well-ventilated and ensures good air circulation (min. distance between the wall and the unit 0 cm), away from heat sources and equipment forcing air flows (ceiling fans and portable fans, heaters). The unit functions properly in an environment where the temperature is in the right climate class, which is specified on the nameplate. The operation of the unit may deteriorate if it functions for extended periods of time at temperatures higher or lower than the specified range. Hints and Tips Make sure to level the cabinet correctly to prevent noisy operation and ensure correct drainage of water (condensate) while defrosting After transporting the unit, wait about hours before starting it The first filling of the refrigerator should be carried out after it has been cooled to working temperature. This principle should also be observed after long breaks in operation Do not block any vents, as it would hinder the circulation of cooled air. Also, provide proper air circulation around the unit (under no circumstances should you cover the vents of the unit) Please ensure even load on shelves, do not exceed the maximum load and do not exceed the maximum storage space Keep the condenser clean. Impurities may cause the compressor to overheat and ultimately lead to malfunction, which is not covered under the warranty. Do not use electrical appliances inside the food storing compartment Avoid unnecessary ejection of drawers and do not leave them open for a long time!.. Temperature control For details on the operation of Igloo and Carel thermostats (temperature controllers), see Chapter 7 (p.9 and 0) The main task of the thermostat is controlling the cooling unit in order to reach the preset temperature inside the unit and maintain it in the ranges specified. All temperature settings necessary for the normal functioning of the unit have been entered by the manufacturer. Before first startup, the user should check and, if necessary, use the panel to set the desired temperature inside the unit. Digital display displays current temperature inside the unit Any interference with the thermostat s factory settings will void your warranty!
6 . MAINTENANCE.. Cleaning and maintenance All maintenance should be performed after disconnecting the unit from the power supply! Protect the wiring against damage or flooding Do not use waterjets to clean the unit; use a damp cloth instead Do not use any sharp objects to remove stains! Units equipped with wheels cannot be operated on uneven surfaces! When washing the inside of the unit, do not leave the front glass pane hanging freely on the aluminum profile. Doing so may damage the glass and is not covered by warranty. Remove the pane together with the profile during maintenance as shown in Fig.8 (p.6). Fig.8 Removing the front panel - Front glass pane - Top aluminum profile (swing rail) for the glass pane - Bottom aluminum profile (hinge) for the glass pane Fig.9 Temperature sensor inside the unit - Temperature sensor - Evaporator hood - Evaporator skillet pan Both during the unit s operation and during maintenance work, be careful not to damage the temperature sensor inside the evaporator hood! It is recommended to stop the unit once a month to clean the interior, defrost the evaporator, clean the condenser and inspect the door seals. Where the unit does not have the automatic condensate evaporation function, remove the condensate from the tray whenever it is full Fig.6 (p.). The amount (frequency) of condensate removal depends on the unit s operating conditions (e.g. air humidity, door opening frequency, quantity and temperature of inserted products). Do not use mechanical means in order to accelerate the defrosting process! The unit s condenser should be kept clean. Impurities impede heat transfer, resulting in e.g. increased power consumption and may cause damage to the compressor unit. To clean the condenser, unscrew the self-tapping screws and remove the wind-chest. Clean the condenser fins with a soft brush. If the condenser is severely dirty (clogged fins), it is recommended to use a vacuum cleaner or compressed nitrogen to suck/blow out the dirt located between the fins. Fig.0 Cleaning the condenser The manufacturer is not responsible for damage to the condenser unit due to failure to clean the condenser clean! Fig. Replacing the lamp - Lamp handle - Lamp - Lamp and igniter holder - Lamp igniter 6
7 Fig. Assembly/disassembly of ABS side and glass side - Lamp cord cover (only installed in Beata ) - Glass side - Glass pane clamp (glass side) The door seal should only be washed with clean water without added detergents dried completely. The seal should not come in contact with greasy substances or oils! During maintenance operations, make sure that the door closes properly. Test: place a sheet of paper between the seal and the housing and close the door. The paper should resist attempts at pulling out Unit components may corrode when used or maintained improperly. Follow the rules below: Prevent contact between the unit s surface and substances containing variants of chlorine and sodium, which destroy their protective film and unit components (this also applied to various grades of stainless steel) During maintenance operations, be careful not to damage the unit s nameplate Fig. (p.8), as it includes information vital to maintenance crews and companies involved in waste disposal. If you exceed the ambient conditions for third-class climate (relative air humidity above 60%), you may observe overflowing from the automatic condensate evaporation system (evaporator). This does not indicate malfunction and does not require a service call. 6. SERVICE 6.. Fault identification and troubleshooting If you encounter any problems during the startup or operation of the unit, return to these chapters of the manual that explain the operations performed. This is to make sure that the unit is handled properly. If the problem persists, the below tips will help in its removal. Unit not working... - Make sure that: The unit is plugged into the mains The voltage and frequency in the network are in line with those recommended by the manufacturer (see nameplate) The main switch is on The thermostat is on (Applicable to Igloo thermostats - If the display only shows two dots - turn the thermostat on) Water is leaking from under the unit or into the compartment Make sure the unit is leveled correctly Check the drainage hoses Empty the condensate container or tray Make sure the pan or the evaporator is not overfilled with ice - defrost if necessary The unit works, the lighting does not... - Make sure that: Lighting switch is on The lamp and the igniter are not burned The unit fails to reach the right temperature, the lighting is on... - Make sure that: The main switch is on The temperature setting in the thermostat is properly set The thermostat works properly The condenser is not dirty, clean if necessary Ambient temperature is not higher than C The unit was given enough time to cool the products The vents are not obstructed 7
8 (Applies to CAREL thermostats) The thermostat displays E0 or E or L0 or HI or EE or Ed or DF instead of showing temperature: E0 - temperature sensor inside the compartment failure - contact an authorized service E - evaporator sensor failure - contact an authorized service L0 - low temperature alarm (lower than the preset range inside the unit) - contact an authorized service HI - high temperature alarm - contact an authorized service EE - internal controller error - contact an authorized service Ed - max. Defrost time exceeded DF - defrost in progress (not an alarm signal) (Applies to IGLOO thermostats) The unit is working, sound alarms on... - Make sure that: The condenser is not dirty, clean if necessary The condenser fan is working Ambient temperature is not higher than C The unit is too noisy... - Make sure that: The unit is stable Furniture adjacent to the unit does not vibrate when the compressor of the cooler unit is working Sounds made by the working unit are normal. The unit includes fans, motors and compressors that turn on and off automatically. Every compressor produces a noise while working. These sounds are generated by the generator s motor and by the refrigerant flowing in the circuit. This phenomenon is a technical feature of cooling equipment and does not indicate a malfunction. The deposition of vapor on the unit s windows at high air humidity 60% is a natural occurrence and does not require a service call! If you exceed the ambient conditions for third-class climate (relative air humidity above 60%), you may observe overflowing from the automatic condensate evaporation system (evaporator). This does not indicate malfunction and does not require a service call. 6.. Service IGLOO service phone no.: +8 () or serwis@igloo.pl If after following the steps described in Chapter 6. Fault identification and troubleshooting the unit still does not function properly, contact the Igloo Tech Support and provide details found on the nameplate Fig. (p.8) Serial Number (NS) Date of manufacture Type (unit name) and Date of purchase Problem description Precise address and telephone number together with your extension number The nameplate can be found on the back of the unit, in the upper right corner, below the worktop Fig./ (p.) The above image shows an example of a nameplate, and the data it includes are sample data and do not refer to Beata! Fig. Nameplate 8
