4 Wattle Farm Borders was established by Jeff Sutton and his family in 2005 and operates on the western outskirts of the Temora. The stud was formed with the purchase of stud rams and ewes from the highly regarded Cadell Stud. At Wattle Farm we aim to breed our Border Leicesters with genetics you can trust which produce sheep of excellent quality, constitution, growth, length, muscling and fertility. In 2010, Wattle Farm acquired the Young Border Leicester Australian Ram of the year which introduced Kelso genetics, Wattle Farm also has a significant financial share in the 2011 Grand Champion Ram of the Australian Sheep Show. We have been showing our Sheep now since 2008 with tremendous success. Wattle Farm has won The Supreme Prime lamb Sire of Sydney Royal and the Grand Champion Ram of the Australian Sheep Show. We continue to support the local Riverina shows also as part of our coitment to the breed. Our recent sucess also included Grand Champion Ram at Sheepvention 2013, along with the Sheepvention Supreme Longwool Interbreed Title Wattle Farm has also received many accolades for our Border Leicester Wool with many awards being won including the Reserve Champion British Breeds Fleece of the Australian Sheep and Wool Show. Jeff Sutton is the current Vice President of the NSW Border Leicester Association, an Executive Coittee member of the Australian Border Leicester Association and is on the Federal Panel of Sheep judges. 5 Wattle Farm s Health Status At Wattle Farm we pay particular attention to detail when it comes to the health of our stock and we ensure we follow criteria including: Registered Flock 4714 PIC number is NA We are Brucellosis accredited free flock (Reg Y.500) All sheep are routinely inspected and are foot rot free Quality genetics are used from proven Sire lines All Sheep at Wattle Farm are Gudair vaccinated against OJD Wattle Farm continue to use Health Statements for the sale of our sheep so buyers can maintain knowledge. All fences at Wattle Farm are constantly inspected and are in quality condition. All sheep are routinely inspected and monitored. All transport trailers / truck are properly cleaned routinely. All sheep routinely drenched Treatment with Clik & Clik Plus at shearing & crutching We performance test all our Border Leicesters using sheep genetics approved scanning. To ensure the highest possible standards we cull heavily to make sure only the best breeding stock is retained and there the best progeny is available to our clients. What do Australian Sheep Breeding Values (ASBV s) mean. The definitions are: MWWT: Maternal Weaning weight, related to milking ability of the female progeny. Measured in kg s. WWT: Weaning weight. (With MWWT relevant to the sucker industry). PWWT: Post weaning weight. An Indication of the lambs ability to grow after weaning. PFAT: Post fat weaning fat which is measured also in. PEMD: Post Weaning Eye Muscle Depth. Index: Suary of all the above, collated to a general/first cross index. Individual ASBV s will be available for all stock sale day for our clients.

For your information please give due consideration to the following: Possible Insurance Cover for your Stud or flock rams for the next 6 months as rams are susceptible to injury and death in this period. Your new ram(s) are better placed in a paddock away from other rams and ewes until joining where he can be feed well and looked after right up until joining Lupins are a very good supplement around 6 weeks from joining and a proven method of increasing semen quality. Rams tend to work much better with a shorter fleece so shearing should be considered which will consequently limit the potential for flystrike and grass seed issues Remember before sending your rams out to work, check teeth, check stones and check feet and make sure all are in excellent order. Your new ram is best placed with mature ewes and should not be overworked as he is your investment for future years to come. Every time you have your rams in the yards check them thoroughly to ensure a long productive life to get the best out of them. Drench your rams and maintain 6 in 1 vaccinations.
