7 Testing and Inspection Facilities Elfab have on site state of the art testing and inspection facilities. The in house sample preparation, inspection and testing lab typically enables individual disc samples to be produced in less than 10 minutes. Elfab fully tests and inspects all discs prior to installation, reducing customers test schedules and delivering long term reliability. High end inspection and analysis software allows for detailed visual examination of bursting disc assemblies to check that no defects exist. Using their custom built rig, Elfab can carry out helium leak testing of bursting disc assemblies, to better than 10 ⁸cc/sec. Elfab understand safety is a foremost concern. Using specialist equipment, even the most delicate disc assembly can be analysed. 20 Flo-Tel TM - Rupture Disc Burst Detection Non-Invasive ATEX Approved Reusable Burst Detection Flo-Tel is a fail-safe detection system providing an excellent solution for identifying when a rupture disc functions within arduous operating conditions. Operating on simple reed switch and magnet technology, Flo-Tel is designed to offer a practical solution for rupture disc detection needs. The sensor is fitted into the holder with a magnet on the rupture disc. When the rupture disc bursts; the rupture disc with its magnet arc away from the sensor, giving an open circuit signal. 28 Explosion Vent Accessories Vent-Tel Burst Detection Vent-Tel is Elfab s ATEX-approved, non-invasive, fail safe, explosion vent burst detection system providing an excellent solution for identifying when an explosion panel has functioned. Operating on a simple reed switch and magnet technology, Vent-Tel is designed to offer a practical solution for explosion vent burst detection, which can trigger a safe and rapid shut-down of the process. Vent-Tel can be retrofitted to Elfab s range of explosion venting panels if they do not have a burst detection system included in the first instance. Other accessories are available on request, such as frames and gaskets. 29 New Buckling Pin Relief Valve Latest development to pressure relief range Elfab s wide range of Buckling Pin Relief Valves (BPRVs) are available for over-pressure protection on a variety of safety critical applications in addition to its technically leading rupture disc range. Each Buckling Pin is uniquely designed and manufactured under the highest quality standards to meet our customer s individual specifications. Reduce downtime, installation and maintenance costs Buckling pins operate by using the simple principle of elastic buckling. The pin holds a piston perfectly on the seat until set point is reached, the pin then buckles and the valve instantaneously moves to a fully open state. Buckling Pins have two simple positions, straight or buckled, giving a clear visual indication of the state of the product. The optional proximity switch provides the operator with the option of connecting the valve to their control systems to provide a signal altering to the valve condition. Unlike other forms of pressure relief device the critical component (the pin) is located externally and is isolated from the process. Therefore, it is not affected by process conditions such as medium or temperature. Regardless of the design or size, resetting the device after operation takes only a few minutes as the pin is retained by a single nut. This ensures quick start up of process and a reduction in downtime costs. Due to the two simple states (straight or buckled) and few moving parts, Elfab s BPRVs are almost maintenance free and may not be subject to annual maintenance.
