INVESTIGATION: The scope of the investigation sponsored under Project was to provide the basis in which to establish UL s on-going program of Follow-up Service and subsequent Classification for a rigid vacuum insulation panel (VIP) identified as Kingspan Optim R Vacuum Insulation Panel (VIP). The finished product is to be Classified under UL s product category Roofing Systems (TGFU) and complimentary product Classified under the product category Roofing Systems Certified for Canada (TGFU7). The focus of the investigation was to review finished product composition and specifications, fire test data, Classifications published on UL s On-Line Certification Directory for Carlisle SynTec Inc. so as to provide the basis establish Class A mechanically fastened and fully-adhered single ply membrane roof covering system Classifications utilizing Carlisle SynTec Inc. finished products without the benefit of conducting ANSI/UL 790 Class A fire tests. Based upon that review, the end use of Kingspan Optim R Vacuum Insulation Panel (VIP) finished product in combination with UL s general fire test experience, UL waived the conduct of Class fire tests as described in ANSI/UL 790. Based upon a review of the fire test methodology described in ANSI/UL 790, and Canadien Standard CAN/ULC-S107 - Methods of Fire Tests of Roof Coverings, Third Edition, dated June 2010, Class A, B or C fire tests as described in CAN/ULC-S107 were waived since the fire tests would be considered representative of the same fire tests as described in ANSI/UL790. Therefore, this provides the basis in which to establish UL s complimentary product category Classification under the UL s product category Roofing Systems Classified for Canada (TGFU7).

Data on its composition is on file at UL for use in the Follow-Up Service Program. PRACTICABILITY: The following represents the judgment of UL based upon the results of the examination and data analysis presented in this Test Record, as they relate to established principles and previously recorded data. Kingspan Optim R Vacuum Insulation Panel (VIP) finished product covered by this Test Record is judged eligible for UL s on-going program of Follow-up Service. Therefore, the finished product is judged eligible for Classification under the UL s product category Roofing Systems (TGFU) and complimentary product categories Roofing Systems Classified for Canada (TGFU7). Only those products, that properly bear UL s Classification Marking, are considered as Classified by UL.
