65 Conclusions Fiber Optic Sensors (FOS) are an Enabling Technology for diverse civil, industrial and defense applications. FOS technology offers the possibility of sensitive, non-destructive, and in-situ measurements of temperature, stress, strain and deformation of different materials & structures. Novel applications for on-line monitoring and service lifetime in a variety of applications and industries are made possible by FOS.
