2 2 General description The fumivent VdS renovation smoke exhaust can be used to quickly and safely refurbish defective smoke exhausts with bent upstand geometries (nominal size -11cm). The fumivent is simply placed onto the on-site upstand and screwed on. The fumivent VdS renovation smoke exhaust conforms to Building Rules List B, is certified as compliant with DIN EN and is additionally recognized according to VdS Guideline Both certifications guarantee legal security in planning and gaining acceptance of the smoke exhaust system. The fumivent VdS smoke exhaust can be installed without structural roof modifications, even with additionally installed heat insulation, on bent upstands with a nominal size of 11 cm. 11 Maintenance and care 11 Smoke and heat exhaust systems are extremely important elements of preventative constructional fire protection. They must function absolutely reliably in the event of a fire, since the safety of human lives and the preservation of material property can be at stake. If these systems do not work when a fire breaks out, the investment costs would have been futile. The components of a smoke and heat exhaust system are exposed to a wide range of influences in the course of time, such as dust deposits, oily mists or grease. Mechanical effects or aging seals etc. constantly increase the risk of functional failure. Only regular, professionally correct maintenance can ensure the necessary long-term functional reliability. This knowledge is drawn from many years of experience and has therefore helped to shape the requirements of the EN standard and the VdS [German insurers association] guideline, which are also applied by the building supervision authorities. They mandatorily require regular testing and maintenance (at least 1 x annually). According to VdS, only a specialised smoke and heat exhaust system producer recognised by VdS is qualified to meet these requirements. Maintenance routines must be confirmed in an inspection book which the operator/builder must submit to the building supervision authority when required by VdS.
