12 NORR INTEGRATED BRIDGE SYSTEM An Integrated Bridge System (IBS) is defined as a combination of systems which are interconnected in order to allow centralized access to sensor information or command/control from workstations, with the aim of increasing safe and efficient ship s management by suitably qualified personnel. Performance standards for Integrated Bridge Systems were adopted by IMO in 1996 (Resolution MSC.64(67)) The IMO Rule entering into force in July 2002 says in Regulation 19 Carriage requirements for shipborne navigational systems and equipment paragraph 6: Integrated Bridge Systems shall be so arranged that failure of one sub-system is brought to immediate attention of the officer in charge of the navigational watch by audible and visual alarms, and does not cause failure to any other sub-system. In case of failure in one part of an integrated navigational system, it shall be possible to operate each other individual item of equipment or part of the system separately. The Multi-Function display is switchable with ARPA/RADAR, ECDIS and Conning Display mode. 16 NORR P-CLASS DYNAMIC POSITIONING SYSTEMS Dynamic Positioning (DP) is a rapidly maturing technology, having been born of necessity as a result of the increasing demands of the rapidly expanding oil and gas exploration industry in the 1960s and early 1970s. Even now, when there exist over 1,000 DPcapable vessels, the majority of them are operationally related to the exploration or exploitation of oil and gas reserves. The demands of the offshore, oil and gas industry have brought about a whole new set of requirements. Further to this, the more recent moves into deeper waters and harsh-environment locations, together with the requirement to consider more environmental-friendly methods, has brought about the great development in the area of Dynamic Positioning techniques and technology. The first vessel to fulfill the accepted definition of DP was the Eureka, of 1961, designed and engineered by Howard Shatto. This vessel was fitted with an analogue control system of very basic type, interfaced with a taut wire reference. Equipped with steerable thrusters fore and aft in addition to her main propulsion, this vessel was of about 450 tons displacement and length 130 feet. Dynamic Positioning algorithms are based on proven PID Controller/Feedback technology and ship s model with built in Kalman filter

17 The platform for the software is LINUX Operating System thereby staying away from the inherent instabilities and start-up issues associated with the WIN-NT operating system The program is written in the JAVA-PC software code The system uses a TCP/UDP/IP interfaced client/server network for continuous rapid communications between the server and the clients. 18 NORR ELECTRIC PROPULSION SYSTEM IEPS 5000 Diesel-electric transmission or diesel-electric powertrain is used by a number of vehicle and ship types for providing locomotion. A diesel-electric transmission system includes a diesel engine connected to an electrical generator, creating electricity that powers electric traction motors. Diesel-electric systems are also used in submarines and surface ships and some land vehicles.the first diesel motorship was also the first diesel-electric ship, the Russian tanker Vandal from Branobel, which was launched in Steam turbine-electric propulsion is in use at least since the 1920s (Tennessee class battleships), the practice of using diesel-electric powerplants in surface ships has been a more recent development. The Finnish coastal defence ship Ilmarinen, laid down in 1929, was among the first surface ships to use diesel-electric transmission. Later the technology was used in diesel powered icebreakers. Some modern ships, including cruise ships and icebreakers, use electric motors in pods called azimuth thrusters underneath to allow for 360 rotation, making the ships far more maneuvrable. Gas turbines are also used for electrical power generation, and some ships use a combination: the Queen Mary 2 has a set of diesel engines in the bottom of the ship plus two gas turbines mounted near the main funnel, all are used for generating electrical power, including that used to drive the propellers. The two (2) dominant systems available today are frequency controlled AC motors and SCR controlled DC motors. Frequency controlled AC motor drive systems are generally more cost effective below 500 H.P. and SCR controlled DC motor systems more cost effective at the higher powers. The reason for the latter is the availability of new and rebuilt DC traction motors. Modern SCR and frequency controlled systems have efficiencies approaching 97% in power conversion. The selection of one over the other is an application issue.

19 NORR SYSTEMS Application of Electrical Propulsion Systems: 1. When propulsive or station keeping power requirements are a small or relatively small percentage of the total power requirements. Drill rigs, OSV s with special positioning requirements, research vessels with special maneuvering requirements, and gaming vessels where speed is inconsequential. 2. When space and/or propulsion machinery limitations either exclude the use of direct diesels or adversely effect the construction cost resulting from using direct diesels. a. SWATH vessels with hulls and/or struts too small to accommodate diesel engines, access, ventilation, etc. b. Vessels with potential trim problems, such as stern wheelers, where machinery needs to be located forward to avoid trim problems. c. Vessels that require, due to space limitations, more than one machinery space are subject to increased construction cost due to duplication of or increases in systems such as: i. Engine cooling ii. Space ventilation iii. Control facilities iv. Exhausts, etc. 3. Vessels that require maximum torque at minimum propeller rpm s. 4. Vessels that have a large variation in power consumption.

20 NORR EMERGENCY SHUT DOWN SYSTEMS In today s environment, it is just as important to design a critical control or emergency shut down systems (ESD) for reliability (availability) as well as safety. Safety or environmental control is important but so is the economic impact of a spurious or nuisance trip of an ESD. Typically design and install systems that are both safe and reliable by following corporate safety design standards. There are however, hardware vendors, engineering contractors, and owner s engineers that sell and design systems that may meet a safety classification without adequately considering and often ignoring system spurious failures. Reliability or availability means that a system can remain on-line, tolerating one or more failures, and still be capable of producing the appropriate outputs for a safe shut down until the failures are detected and repaired. Well designed instrumented systems used for safety or critical control applications seek the balance of safety and reliability by considering appropriate voting, high self diagnostic coverage in field sensors, logic solvers, and final elements. Design Criteria Simple and easy to understand is one of the most important design considerations Ease of reach and easily available during an emergency Works hand in hand with a proper Fire and Gas Detection System Use redundancy (sensors and final elements) to improve safety and / reliability Use analog devices rather than discrete devices whenever possible Understand Human Errors Utilize a high integrity (safe) AND reliable (available) logic solver Eliminate or minimize common mode failures Verify and document interlock functionality Design effective alarm systems Use known and open technology Test safety systems periodically Ensure management control of changes and system bypasses

21 NORR SYSTEMS NORR works hand-in-hand with ESD and package designers to produce a desired ESD system safe and practical for operator s usage. System can be operated in Hydraulics or Pneumatics depending on construction and design. System will able to detect lost of instrument air, hydraulic power or failures in key components during self check modes and even routine checks. The system will be interfaced with Fire and Gas Detection Systems and relevant process systems for complete system control, monitoring and shut down during an emergency. ESD systems are typically SIL 3 (Safety Integrity Level 3) and therefore of high importance. NORR works with key partners like SIEMENS to deliver a high integrity safety system for our customers. Key important approvals from TUV and other renowned bodies are required in this system.

22 NORR FAS FIRE & GAS DETECTION SYSTEMS NORR designs systems with a modular, flexible approach to meet customer requirements for flame and gas detection. We employ the highest quality components in hardwired systems, PLC-based systems or addressable systems networked via computer. Hardwired Systems In smaller applications, hardwired systems are a reliable and cost-effective approach to fire and gas detection. Detectors and card-based controllers with communication cards are wired in appropriate locations. All indicators and alarms are displayed on a front panel that requires no operator intervention other than pressing the acknowledgement or Reset buttons. PLC-Based Systems For mid-size to larger applications, the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) has evolved as a highly intelligent controller. PLCs reliably detect alarms and initiate an orderly system control or shutdown in emergencies. Advantages: Microprocessor intelligence Communications and networking (e.g., MODBUS) Hardware and software self-diagnostics Lower cost than hardwiring large system Addressable Systems NORR designs addressable flame and gas detection systems consisting of a host, such as a PLC or PC, connected to remote field devices. 25 NORR SYSTEMS NORR VALVE CONTROL SYSTEM NORR Valve Remote Control (VRC) Systems deliver safety and reliability in a compact, cost-effective design. Our customer will benefit from the VRC s stability, flexibility and reliability, as well as long operating life. NORR VRC meet industry standards and authorities requirements worldwide. BLOOMFOSS Hydraulic Actuator - Compact, high-torque output For those seeking reliability and accuracy, the Bloomfoss hydraulic Actuator is a good solution. Our actuator can be used on all types of vessels, offshore, plant and applications that is available as a stand-alone system or as part of an extensive marine cargo management system. From double acting to single acting, from submerged to non-submerged. As a standard, hydraulic fluid is applicable for safe and hazardous environments. Hydraulic fluid does not combust easily. Modern synthetic based fire resistant based fluids are able to perform to temperatures excess of 250 o C safely. 26 BLOOMFOSS High Resistance Pneumatic Actuators The Bloomfoss pneumatic actuator is versatile and economical, while delivering the high-end performance marine customers need. The system is applicable not only to vessels but also to many petrochemical, power and waterworks applications. It is also most commonly applied to ESD valve systems. Pneumatic systems are able to operate in safe and hazardous environments as air is almost non-combustible. Some systems even go to the extent of using Inert gases for extreme safe measures. Our pneumatic actuators operate from minimum of 5 to 11 BAR with other pressure settings on request. Material range from common aluminium to stainless steel. Pneumatics is very commonly deployed in smaller vessels and cement systems whereby the use of air from the compressor will be suffice for the system.

27 NORR SYSTEMS TANK MANAGEMENT When specifying a radar tank gauging system for your vessel, you should chose a system that meets the requirements for safety and reliability for each ship type and cargo. NORR Tank Radar System employs latest German and Swiss technologies which converts to meaning of accurate gauging, reliable operation throughout the life cycle of the ship and low maintenance requirements. NORR Cryogenic Tank Radar NORR Cryogenic Tank Radar meets the requirements on accuracy and reliability in a cryogenic tank environment. It provides accurate, reliable figures during all stages of loading, transporting and discharging. Temperature and pressure sensors are connected to the radar tank gauges, giving a complete picture of the cargo in the tanks. It is most applicable to LNG, LPG and cryogenic tank operations. NORR Electronic Tank System (NETS) The NETS employs pressure sensor that is designed for level and draft measurement. The system provides genuine versatility with approved mounting designs, from both tank s top and side. The sensor is robust and durable, with low maintenance requirements. One of the unique features of sensor is the feature of titanium housing and diaphragm that makes the transmitter seawater resistant. It also features a special strain gauge sensor with a considerable overload capacity which allows for sudden rises in pressure. High accuracy of only 0.1 % of full scale and high repeatability allows our system to be successful and highly acclaimed.

28 NORR ANTI-HEELING SYSTEMS AHS 2000 In certain vessel types, Anti-Heeling is a compulsory tool and asset. NORR Systems is able to deliver the complete solution to these vessel types eg. RoRo, Containers, Barges etc that includes both Tank Management and Anti-Heeling integrated into a single solution. Not only is the solution cost effective but also highly reliable. 29 NORR SYSTEMS GENERAL SYSTEM FUNCTION AND WORKING PRINCIPLE This system is designed for automatic and manual control of the ship s list during loading and unloading. It is to rebalance the ship automatically with the feedback from the inclinometer by pumping ballast water from starboard to port or vice versa. The systems operates with reversible or non reversible pumps and corresponding Remote Controlled Valves. The complete systems include: 1) Anti-Heeling Control Panel 2) Pump Starter Panel 3) Inclinometer Box 4) Heeling Pump 5) Heeling Valves 6) Level Transmitter The Anti-Heeling System AH2000 & AH2000i can work in conjunction with the stability control system and the valve remote control system for bilge and ballast valve control, the precision heeling sensor, mounted athwart to the ship s direction and supplies the heeling angle signal to the master PLC. The master CPU is housed in a flush mounting box. The front panel of the anti-heeling system includes hardwired selector switch for mode selection and lamp test for manual operation and a mimic panel. The ballast pump starts only if it gets the signal that both respective valves. These valves will be controlled by means of master PLC.

31 NORR SYSTEMS DP TRAINING NORR SYSTEMS TRAINING CENTER NORR Systems is glad to announce that we are one of the approved / endorsed DP Training facility accredited by The Nautical Institute of UK. With the training facility in place, NORR Systems is able to deliver the Dynamic Positioning training to offshore vessels and their teams of operators under the Nautical Institute Scheme on Dynamic Positioning Vessel Control. Our training facility offers a L3-Communications NMS6000 Dynamic Positioning System. DP training facilities include a two-station DP class 2 Dual redundant Dynamic Positioning System setup for all DP application with a full range of functionality.
