The episodes will begin filming in July and start airing this September. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, garnered an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Reality Program during its first season. Involving a team of designers, contractors and several hundred workers, each self-contained episode features a race against time to rebuild an entire house in seven days. Home Comfort Realized Honeywell, in partnership with Beazer Homes, provided indoor air quality products to the much deserving Harper family earlier this year via the Extreme Home Makeover program. The Harpers, who had been living in a house ruined by raw sewage, were provided a new house equipped with Honeywell s VisionPRO TM 8000 programmable thermostat, F100 Media Air Cleaner, Ultraviolet Air Treatment System and a By-pass Flow Through Humidifier with Humidistat. 3 Zoning FAQ s Frequently Asked Questions Is Q. Zoning a growth market? Absolutely. A recent study showed that 62% of consumers surveyed are not satisfied with their home comfort. Furthermore, consumers surveyed listed more even temperatures and better temperature control as two of the most desired improvements. This consumer need points toward a strong growth trend for the Zoning market. What issues does the industry face as it moves toward 13 SEER minimum air conditioning efficiency? Contractors will need to differentiate themselves on a dimension other than equipment efficiency. Once the standard takes effect, approximately 90% of equipment sold will be at the minimum efficiency. That leaves only two options for differentiation lowest price or best total A. comfort. Differentiating on total comfort will potentially provide greater reward. Contractors will need to identify their customer s actual needs and become experts in installing and servicing additional equipment, such as indoor air quality and zoning products. Joe Burns, President and owner. We consider ourselves industry adapters and leaders and we bring up many different product options to our customers, he says. The nine-person business, based in Columbia, SC, specializes in residential air conditioning and heating with a focus on Amana equipment. Because of the home s size and layout, wireless zoning was the perfect solution for consistent comfort and an easy, wire-free installation. The second floor has 12 zones, with two zoning systems controlling six zones. The homeowners were surprised and pleased to discover the benefits of wireless zoning, says Joe. He finds that many homeowners never benefit from advanced home comfort solutions like zoning and IAQ products simply because their contractor never offered them. 4 Enhanced Website Provides Personalized Indoor Air Quality Assessments for Homeowners Honeywell recently enhanced its homeowner-focused web site at providing the information and tools needed to sell home comfort and indoor air quality products to homeowners. The new site takes a solutions-based approach to solving common homeowner comfort and air quality problems. The site will ask, for example, Is Your Furnace Filter Enough? (leading visitors to more information about whole-house air cleaners) and Do You Qualify for a Utility Rebate? (sending What s Your IAQ? Contractors: Send homeowners to receive a FREE, personalized assessment of their home s air quality, along with suggested improvements. Visit Enter IAQ in the search bar Click on the What s Your IAQ link them to the page on programmable thermostat rebates). Other features include the Programming Wizard where homeowners can choose the thermostat model that they own and the wizard will walk them through the programming schedule; and the What s Your IAQ Indoor Air Quality?
