2 AACC has been approved as an Education Partner of the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD). Our comprehensive curriculum embraces the criteria required for AIFD accreditation. Completing the AACC Floral Design certificate helps prepare students for a successful career as a certified floral designer. For information on how to earn a continuing education certificate in floral design, visit How do I obtain my certified floral designation (CFD ) from the American Institute of Floral Design through AACC? STEP 1: Successfully complete your AACC Floral Design certificate. STEP 2: Attain score above 3.0 on a 5 point scale in the "Advanced Floral Design Evaluation" (FLR-333) class at AACC. STEP 3: Complete the AIFD online test and receive an 80 percent or better within two weeks of receiving access to the online test. Visit for industry certification requirements. Note: Classes listed below are not restricted to students persuing the floral design certificate, but some classes do have prerequisites

Identify appropriate floral designs for holidays. Discover advanced techniques for foam and vase arrangements. At least one arrangement will be taken home each session. FLD Feb. 26-March 5 Arnold-Main Powers 2 sessions M 6:15-9:15 pm Sympathy Flowers Examine a variety of sympathy tributes, industry terminology, construction mechanics and design requirements. Discuss family consultations and coordination with funeral directors. Create traditional funeral arrangements such as casket and standing sprays. Prerequisite: FLD 304 Floriculture 1: Basic Floral Design or permission from the instructor. Note: Students must bring a floral knife or sharp pocketknife, pruning shears, wire cutters and ribbon scissors to class. A bag lunch is recommended. Cost: $168 includes $102 fee. 6 Merchandising for Retail Flower Shops Explore techniques in visual merchandising for a retail flower shop. Identify target demographics and industry trends. Explore display placement, sensory branding, cross merchandising and how these affect consumer spending. Create an arrangement for a display. Prerequisite: FLD 304 Floriculture 1 or instructor permission. Note: Students must bring a floral knife or sharp pocketknife, pruning shears, wire cutters and ribbon scissors to class. FLD March 4 Arnold-Main Norman 1 session Su 9:30 am-4 pm Hotel Lobby and Corporate Flowers Create a floral arrangement for a corporate reception area and participate in a group project to create a hotel lobby display. Identify flowers and botanicals suitable for longevity. Evaluate container selection, best mechanics, corporate brand, and client preferences. Prerequisite: FLD 304 Floriculture 1: Basic Floral Design or permission from the instructor. Note: Students are required to bring a floral knife or sharp ribbon scissors. Cost: $113 includes $77 fee. FLD March 10 Arnold-Main Inskeep 1 session Sa 10am-1:15 pm Advanced Bridal Bouquets Create bridal bouquets using European master techniques. Demonstrations include armature techniques using wire and natural materials, and foliage manipulation. Discuss elements and principles of design, and evaluation scoring. Prerequisites: FLD 304 Floriculture I and FLD 305 Floriculture II or one year design experience. Note: Students must bring a floral knife or sharp pocketknife, pruning shears, wire cutters and ribbon scissors to class. A bag lunch is recommended. Cost: $242 includes $132 fee. FLR Jan. 13 Off Campus Powers 1 session Sa Noon-2:20 pm XOFF Advanced Floral Design Evaluation Assess floral design competency through handson and written exams. Evaluators determine if students can move forward in the AIFD Certified Floral Designer (CFD) process. Prerequisite: AACC Floral Design Certificate Completion or permission of instructor. Note: Visit for AIFD CFD certification requirements. Students who score above a 3.0 on a 5-point scale and have completed AACC's Floriculture Certificate will be recommended to AIFD for certification. Students not enrolled in the AACC Floral Design certificate program will be evaluated, but not presented to AIFD. Students should arrive 30 minutes early. Cost: $277 includes $157 fee. FLR March 4 Arnold-Main Godfrey 1 session Su Noon-4 pm Advanced Floral Design Intensive Prepare for testing and competition. Apply elements and principles of design to sympathy, wedding, wearable floral fashion and high style floral compositions. Note: Bring containers from and photos of worship space for instructor recommendations.
