1 EVALUATION OF HERBICIDES IN SEEDLESS WATERMELON Site Description Trial ID: WATERMELON07 Location: LIVE OAK General Trial Information Protocol ID: WATERMELON07 Study Director: Investigator: W. M. Stall Investigator: W. M. Stall Title: PROFESSOR Affiliation: HORTICULTURAL SCIENCES DEPT Postal Code: Trial Location City: LIVE OAK State/Prov.: FL Postal Code: Guideline Description Objectives: TO EVALUATE EPTAM APPLIED ALONE AND TANK MIXED WITH SANDEA OR SINBAR AND EVALUATE V IN WATERMELON FOR PHYTO AND NUTSEDGE CONTROL. Conclusions: THE NUMBER OF NUTSEDGE EMERGING IN THE PLOTS WERE LOW, BUT THE PRE APPLICATIONS OF EPTAM AND V DID SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE THE NUMBER. the POST APPLICATION OF V DID CAUSE SIGNIFICANT STUNTING AND SOME BLEACHING OF THE RUNNERS. LATE CONTROL WAS GOOD TO EXCELLENT WITH THE EPTAM AND V TREATMENTS EXCEPT THE LOW (0.2) PRE RATE OF V SINBAR DOES NOT CONTROL NUTSEDGE AND WAS NOT EXPECTED TO. THE FIRST HARVEST WAS MADE EARLY, MOST LIKELY TOO EARLY, IN THAT SOME OF THEMELONS THAT WERE CUT LATER WERE NOT COMPLETELY RIPE. WE HAD AN INEXPERIENCED CREW AND A NEW MELON CULTIVAR. THE EPTC (4 PT) THE EPTC + SANDEA AND THE EPTC + SINBAR YIELD WAS SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER THAN THE CHECK AT THE FIRST HARVEST. YIELDS ON THE SECOND HARVEST WERE JUST BACKWARDS FROM THE FIRST HARVEST AND THERE WERE NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES IN TOTAL YIELDS AMONG THE TREATMENTS.
