Quality customer service and convenient shopping form our DNA so whatever you choose, you will be guaranteed a one-of-a-kind piece with lifetime warranty and complimentary maintenance. OUR 10 SERVICES 1. Showroom to experience the touch and feel of our products Experience the design and quality of our products in person. Showroom open daily, from 10am - 7pm, by appointment. 2. Free and immediate delivery We deliver to any place in the Klang Valley free of charge, and within 2 weeks of your order. Our team will assemble your purchases and place them at your preferred location. 3. Access to additional Ethnicraft products See something you like but which we do not carry? Let us know and we may be able to bring them in, just for you. 4. Complimentary varnishing services Worried about stains and want to have your items varnished? Just let us know. We offer a water-based topcoat treatment at no extra charge. 5. Darker colour options Love teak but wish it was darker? We offer complimentary staining services for all our teak items. 6. Complimentary disposal services We offer 1-for-1 disposal services. Simply inform us of your request before delivery. We ll take care of the rest. 7. Complimentary maintenance services In the event that any stains, marks or faults occur over time and with use, our help is just an or a phone call away. We will rectify the issue promptly at no charge. 8. Free returns within one month after delivery In the event that the products do not fit in with your home interior, we are happy to take the products back without any charge up to one month after delivery. 9. Lifetime Warranty on our products We use the highest quality solid wood and mechanisms. However, should any defects or natural cracks occur, simply contact us and we will replace the item immediately without any charge. 10. Quality meets price We offer quality products at competitive and transparent prices. There are no hidden charges and we provide 5% off purchases above MYR 6,000 and 10% off orders above MYR 13,000. In 1995, Belgian entrepreneur Philippe Delaisse decided to bring back a container of furniture and home décor accessories from his holiday in Indonesia, in order to sell them at home. Long time friend Benoit Loos heard about it and joined forces with Philippe. Together, they started to import one container every few months. After just one year, they had clients waiting at the Antwerp docks, numbered ticket in hand, to buy that one special item they coveted. The partners very quickly decided to design and produce their own furniture, and set up their first manufacturing site in Indonesia. 4 ABOUT SOLID WOOD Wood, like any other natural porous material, continues to absorb and release humidity throughout its life. Ethnicraft designs furniture that adapts well to the hygrometric conditions of its environment, allowing the wood to expand and contract. Variations in wood grain, texture, colour, knots and other naturally occurring characteristics are inherent to solid wood. As wood is a product of nature, our craftsmen apply different techniques such as wood inlaying and the use of wood paste to give our furniture the state-of-the-art, superior finish it deserves. We believe that these imperfections contribute to the charm of Ethnicraft products and consciously select a specific quality of wood that adds more character to our designs. 60 MAINTENANCE OUR COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT We continuously think about the consequences for the environment and take environmental issues to heart: from the origin of the wood, the energy we use in the entire production and distribution process, to the treatment of the products and reduction of waste. We try to be good stewards of the earth every day. THE ORIGIN OF OUR CORE MATERIAL Ethnicraft s teak wood comes from two main sources. They are either carefully reclaimed timber from neglected buildings or old warehouses, mainly from the island of Central Java in Indonesia, or sustainably harvested plantation teak. We work closely with the Indonesian governmental body in charge of managing the teak plantations originally set up by the Dutch about 150 years ago. This government agency applies strict policies to annual replanting and to the size and quantity of trees felled each year. HOW TO KEEP YOUR ETHNICRAFT FURNITURE IN PERFECT CONDITION Use placemats to prevent hot pots, pans and cold glasses or bottles from leaving marks on the furniture. Remove any spills immediately to prevent staining. When cleaning the surface, always work in the direction of the wood grain. Like any natural material, oak will darken or yellow over time while teak and walnut will fade slightly when directly exposed to UV light. To prevent colour differences, shield your furniture from direct sunlight and move objects placed on the furniture from time to time. Our production factories work with well-managed forests in Europe to ensure that the French and Serbian oak we work with are sustainably harvested. NO WASTE Production waste, such as remnants of logs, leftover wood and sawdust are re-used for other purposes. The sawdust from the logs is either used as fuel in the drying ovens or compacted as a basis for pallets. All the leftovers from cutting planks to size are recycled and used as base material or as finger joints for panels. FSC LABEL FOR FURNITURE Our commitment to the environment is reflected by the FSC CoC (Chain of Custody) certification of our distribution centres. FSC is a worldwide independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organisation that promotes responsible management of the world s forests. In other words, this organisation guarantees that products carrying the FSC label come from forests that are managed so that they meet the social, economic and ecological needs of present and future generations. UPHOLSTERED CHAIRS AND FURNITURE The fabric of our sofa collections ET and N101 is dry clean only. Using only soap and water or throwing it in your washing machine may lighten the colour or result in uneven discolouration. Furthermore, washing it in the machine, even on a low temperature, may also shrink the fabric. The upholstery of our teak chairs is made of 100% Belgian linen. It cannot be removed and if stained, can only be treated with dry cleaning products. Products with an * are FSC certfified

61 MAINTENANCE MAINTENANCE FURNITURE Our teak collection comes natural, without any finish or protective treatment, allowing the beauty of its grain to take center stage. The wood is merely polished, which helps its natural oils rise to the surface. Thanks to teak s high density, stains do not penetrate deep into the wood, making it easy to use and maintain. For daily care NOTRE MONDE TRAYS Our wooden trays are varnished with a water-based top coat to repel common substances and fluids, such as coffee, tea and wine. However, the protective coat is no foolproof guarantee against stains. We recommend removing spills immediately to prevent staining. Always use coasters to prevent hot surfaces from leaving marks on the wooden trays. For daily care WOODEN TRAYS Dust regularly using a soft dry cloth. For a more thorough cleaning, use furniture polish with a soft cloth. A little maintenance every day goes a long way in keeping your furniture in pristine condition! Dust your furniture regularly with a dry, non-fluffy cloth. To clean it, use a cloth or sponge dampened with a solution of water and natural soap or gentle soap. Do not worry about cleaning it too often - frequent cleaning with a natural soap solution will gradually build up a protective layer. In fact, as the wood absorbs the soap, it will become more stain repellant. GLASS & MIRROR TRAYS Wipe the surface with glass cleaner and soft cloth. For preventive treatment Concerned about staining your natural wood furniture? You can consider adding a protective layer. Luckily, we offer complimentary varnishing services for our products, so you can rest easy. We use a water-based topcoat which seals the pores of the timber, forming a natural protection between the wood and other substances. Even with this preventative treatment, stains and marks should be removed immediately. If the liquid or substance is left to penetrate the wood, the furniture will eventually get stained. Take note, though: this treatment may result in a slightly darker finish on your furniture pieces. METAL Dust regularly using a soft dry cloth. For a more thorough cleaning, use mild soap and warm water. Rinse with clean water and wipe dry. Do not use steel wool, sandpaper, mineral acid, bleach, or chlorine cleaners on metal surfaces. For stubborn stains Over time and with use, your teak furniture may need a little extra help to look as good as new. All Ethnicraft Online products enjoy complimentary lifetime maintenance, so you can always schedule a session with us to refresh your furniture. If you prefer to do it yourself, make sure the surface is dry and clean and then use extra fine sand paper from your local hardware store (minimum 320 grit). Make sure to sand in the direction of the wood grain. Finally, apply a thin layer of Osmo Hardwax Oil, clear mat (3062), which you can purchase from our online store. Let the finish dry for at least a day before using it! NOTRE MONDE FURNITURE Do not drag tables along the floor, as it might damage the protective coating, cause rusting or leave permanent marks on the floor. Always lift the furniture when moving them from place to place. FURNITURE WITH METAL BASE ON A VARNISHED WOODEN FLOOR Always ensure water and solutions used to clean the floor do not come into contact with the furniture s metal base, as it might leave permanent marks. We recommend attaching rubber or plastic leg protectors on the metal legs. Protectors made from felt is not recommended. FURNITURE WITH METAL BASE ON AN UNVARNISHED WOODEN FLOOR Some wood species, such as oak, contain tannin, which causes the wood to react with metal and leave permanent marks on the floor. We recommend attaching rubber or plastic protectors on the furniture s metal legs. Protectors made from felt is not recommended
