Abstract. Architecture is a kind of art and the substance of architecture lies in space. Based on the change of light and shadow the plane and elevation scheme of the school history Museum was designed in detail. When the space of building is no longer drawn conclusion with the traditional entity enclosing, light gives architectural space new vitality, and creates a variety of architectural space artistic conception. The different architectural mood which is brought about by the change of light and shadow is analyzed and compared. The result shows the art of light and shadow should be embodied constantly during the design. These can provide valuable references for initial architectural scheme design. Introduction Light is one of the most common and just also the most wonderful elements in nature. It is well known that light is one of the basic elements of universe, and space is playing the leading role for building, light is one of the important medium by which people can percept and experience rich architectural space. Light make building space becomes vivid and full of vitality, it must be considered during the space visual design. In practice, light and shadow is often existence at the same time, their union is play a accelerating and foil role for the architectural space construct, also influence and embodies the understanding and feeling of people to the building and natural, and it is an important catalyst for the buildings connection and make it nature and harmony. In human history, it plays a decisive role. The integration of technology and art of architecture philosophy is embodied by lighting clever apply in the building. In many construction works, natural lighting good using always can make architectural space active and give its life, namely space soul given by lighting [1]. In this article, through a project is applied to lighting art to cause people rethinking and positioning the natural lighting, thus forming architecture space with a fusion of light and shadow, creating an organic architecture in harmony with nature. The Intangible Creation of Architectural Space Qualification of Architectural Space. The building needs to be shown through a special element when building art has been too much to discuss, then building space became important. Compared with the other elements of the architecture, space and light have more similarities, which are more spiritual existence. Space is the spirit world of architectural, and it needs be shaped by a free, abundant and spiritual material, moreover this demand is satisfied for light as nature material. Fig.1 Meditation Chamber Fig.2 Germany Pavilion in Barcelona Fig.3 The space The nature of design space is design of light, and this is reflected in many classical buildings. Light limited space, and in essence it distinguished from the space division and enclosing by construction entity. When we are used to using real profile to describe space, we are surprised to see that light is only lighting the space boundary, and also getting the clear spatial form as shown in Fig.1. 2 Applied Mechanics and Materials Vols Architectural Space Mobility. People find architectural space may not be the traditional immobile with the emergence of Barcelona Germany Pavilion as shown in Fig.2. The spaces can contact very closely, and light plays a role. Different kinds of spaces are connected by the same brightness and homogeneous light. When people enter into the space, their psychological feeling of the space will keep unity, like space moving with people moving. Space is a three dimensional concept, shadow is produced by light, and it is timeliness. With light joining, time become a factor of the space, and the space turned to four-dimensional one, then it is no longer static, it is as shown in Fig.3. Light itself has no fixed form, no certain direction, even no specific shape. With the changing of time, light through the gaps in the architecture given off different shadow in a variety of angles and shapes. It is clear and obscure, also silent and dynamic. The motion felling of space is fully described, in the meantime space can also be strengthened [2]. Architectural Designs Conception Generation. The substance of architecture is space, with the progress of human civilization, people pay more and more attention to light and shadow, light flow system emphasizes space experience in display space design, highlighting the space show theme. When building space is no longer defined with the traditional entity enclosing, light gives the architectural space new vitality, and creates a variety of artistic conception for architectural space. In this design, the design starting point is light, and focusing on the performance of light and shadow in the School History Room, finally accomplished artistic building and the effects of tracing light and shadow. Space effect diagram is as shown in Fig.4. Fig.4 Building space renderings The Base Location and Surrounding Situation. Base is located on an open area between the fifth gate and the first gate at the campus, it close to the main road of campus, there is the first teaching building, main office building and library on its west, and Arts communities and city libraries on its east, the cultural atmosphere is great, also the transportation is convenient. Graphic Design. Graphic design has been used in "Trinity" concept. This concept throughout the whole building space organization [3]. Specifically, it includes three exhibition halls, three light characteristics, three acts, three floors and three main routes. A kind of non dialectical experience open is expressed through this concept. Judging from the architectural shape, there are fortitude beauty and Soft beauty as shown in straight and curve, they are looked naturally and like an organic whole. These halls are also expressed three different concepts of time in different light environments. Some halls expressed a linear concept of time through the evenly diffuse light; some halls with arc wall, the light will show different shapes with time changing, so as to express a cyclical concept of time; bitty time concept is expressed by east-west daylight in the work room exhibition hall. Get in the building, began the pursuit of light and shadow. At first there is a Hall Shared space which is through up and down, and the accessible rooms and showrooms are connected through the space. With volume cutting, traffic facilities and evacuation requirements, an interesting negative space among the three main halls was formed in this design, and constituted a shared platform for people communicating and resting. These platforms "spread" to every corner of the building, many different themes communication sharing spaces are created with changing of sunlight and sight, thus some experience of street space extends to building inside. Students activities make the building more full of life. My open attitude of the Trinity will be manifested in different themes Halls. According to
3 102 Architecture, Building Materials and Engineering Management different characteristics of the external environment and the different themes of each exhibition hall, building expressive force is strengthened with using different light. In this design, high latitude regional characteristics determine the basic characteristics of the illumination angle of sunshine. In one year, the sun height angle is fluctuation change, so the performance of the sun is completely played in a horizontal space. At the same time, I came up with an interlaced concept in this design to link the architecture with geometry of urban landscape. Light performances also around this topic and the school's physical characteristics. For whole School History Room, different changes are done on the rectangular body. The walls of the hall are flat and bending. The subtle changes in the shape and size of the room were appeared with the soft changes of architectural section. In this way, level natural light into the room from different directions. Light from top is leaded to the next layer by curved wall. Because of the subtle distortions of space, visitors are facing a series of continuous nonlinear dynamical views on the road of process; and the changes in natural light make Hall quiet but not static. These rich internal experience and mutual torsion relates in together of space and light, also shown the interlaced concept. Building Facade Design. The facades show the type and character of the building. The building image design is also the key, is as shown in Fig.5- Fig.8. School History Room facades reflect the image of the school, show school spirit, and harmonize with the surrounding environment. I will focus on solving the problem that rendering a building with a sense of both history and modern. Fig.5 The west elevation Fig.6 The north elevation Fig.7 The east elevation Fig.8 The south elevation There is a historical and cultural background around the base, so the starting point of the design is to hope to make a kind of form with both traditional and modern, not only represent the school image but also from the point of view of the city that make the building facade and the surrounding environment more coordinate. In the processing of facade, surrounding buildings are unified in the same order by some parts using the same color. Asymmetric pattern is formed on both sides of the main entrance, and facade form a unified rhythm between the symmetry and asymmetry by using of the curtain wall, maintaining an asymmetry balance beauty on the vision. Building facades continue the facade style of original building and adopt the element form of curve. Facade at secondary entrance corresponding position adopts the form of glass curtain wall that contrast with big area of red brick walls, and cooperate with planar function backing into it to play a definite identification role. The red brick wall and window opening way are consistent both of indoor and outdoor facade, so making indoor and outdoor building have the same logical relationship, and maintain the pureness of building and the consistent continuity between indoor and outdoor [4]. In the design of color, material and details in School History Room, it also pursues a building facade with function and aesthetic feeling, at the same time it can well coordinate with surrounding environment, and strives to cause resonance and identity of mostly people. Building main body all uses red brick walls which are as a traditional color, and wall space levels are enriched. The main entrance hall used gradient and transparent glass curtain wall, the curtain wall with meticulous delicate and transparent feeling forms a sharp contrast relationship with massive solid wall, so that the facade form a rich aesthetic feeling and making main entrance particularly outstanding. The main
4 Applied Mechanics and Materials Vols entrance uses tilted body; this design technique increases the space scale feeling and outspread feeling of the main entrance platform. Under the strained condition of landing, it makes a rich space hierarchy sense on the street facade of School History Room. With time changes, light is changing. The richly change of architectural are shown, and the building facade is moved up metrically with the light, all of that are showing a rich architectural expression. Through the multi-level deal and the application of the influencing factors with the red brick walls, curtain wall and light color stone, to make the facade elements form a sharp contrast on materials, texture color and the light, at the same time achieving the overall unity and harmony, also making the whole facade both have traditional flavor and contemporary sense. In this facade design, through the symmetric, asymmetric, change, unity, contrast, color, texture and rhythm design of the School History Room facade to show the aesthetic feeling of the building facade, making various elements become coordination and to achieve the harmonious combination effect. Building facade also show that there is unity in changes also changes in unity. Review and Prospect In the current environment that the process of urbanization is accelerating and building density is also increasing, the affinity natural design tendency become more and more important, so, building light environment requirements are also promoted a new level, more and more attentions are paid to natural light, how to build a good natural light environment become the main content of the architectural design. Making a full use of natural light in architectural design, not only embodies the humanistic design thought but also embodies the sustainable development of ecological design idea, natural light as space artistic conception expression, it is the demand of the higher level of human spirit, and the design of building natural light environment fully embodies the sustainable development of the ecological design concept, conserving energy and protecting environmental, also reflects the harmony idea between man and nature. Architecture as art, it not only merely impacts people on visual sense, what is more important is that it may have a larger effect on people at a real substance and a wider range of spirit levels. Arts and Design academe of Tsinghua University, Professor Chen said: Art effect the human spirit, with globosity characteristics, it can all-sided effect in various aspects of the human spirit, such as human feeling, perception, imagination, emotion, reason, will, and other aspects. Although we can separate this spirit of art effect to talk about, but in the process of acceptance of art works or art effect in human spirit, people was using the heart to communicate with art image. Conclusions Light is artistic and mysterious. We bathe in the ocean of light, and enjoy the charm of lights, we should also understand the language of light, so that create a better light environment to beautify the building and living, also improve the artistic charm of the building and quality of our life. This article details the architectural design scheme of school history room, and focus on analysis the different building artistic conception with light changing. Art of light and shadow is embodied in the design, and these can provide valuable references for similar architectural design.
