1 It is an intention of mine, to introduce this rich potential of color design in architecture for a livable world in the sense of cultural and social dimensions of sustainability and for a sensual and vibrant relationship between man, architecture and landscape. Architecture, Freelance architect in Berlin Vita Project examples After studying architecture at the Bauhaus University in Weimar (graduation in 1988), I worked for various planning agencies in the fields of architecture and urban planning, I have been professionally independent since Planning with color design and its conscious creative use of space and architecture was always a natural part of the planning process and a true passion for me. In my over 10 years of intense collaboration with the studio von Garnier I acquired indepth knowledge of color, color design and philosophy of color design, their modes of action and application in architecture. In a variety of projects in all areas of construction, from designing single family houses to planning large industrial projects, I have obtained an immense cache of experience in the development and implementation of well thought-out color designs with creativity, Philosophy Color design means thinking buildings through to the end by designing, to define its properties of light in an emotional interpretation, to establish a respectful relationship between building, people and landscape. This has cultural and sociological dimensions. The composition of color tones assigns different moods of lights to a building: warm or cool, cheerful or serious, noble, harmonious and expressive, urban, playful or disciplined., In its perception colors will fill whole space beside the wall as the decisive criterion for atmospheric quality of a spatial situation. Designing with shades of color in urban areas means to establish relationship skills. Sophisticated color design follows the specifications of architecture and its structures and involves both, the use of a building as well as its location and used these guidelines in a view to planned material. It s a compositional task to create aesthetic quality, creative individuality, vitality and appreciation with artistic means. Every design process is a communication process in which it s important to understand the needs and expectations of the client or to work out together, connected with intentions and interests of architects to get an optimal result: creating a challenging design, expertly implemented within the defined budget. Color design differanciates all individual houses and underlines overall context of that residential complex as well. Color changes follows the built structure house by house, each framed by a gray shade as neutralizing and connecting element of the total cubic volume.

4 investor: GEWOBAG Wohnungsbau-Aktiengesellschaft Berlin Street lines Breite Straße and Lindenufer, historic old town Berlin-Spandau Color design for new coat of paint 2012 The typical contemporary apartment buildings from the 80s are created as individual houses and take their differentiated facade design in the sense of reference to the postmodern urban heritage site. Basic concern of color concept was to work out the individual character of these houses and to realize a harmonious ensemble effect of whole raod as well. Each of the building structures receives its identity by its own color and contributes to the identity of urban space with its specific design. here: Breite Straße before and after

5 investor: GEWOBAG Wohnungsbau-Aktiengesellschaft Berlin Houses at the street Lindenufer are more expressive and experimental pronounced in its architectural quality, in terms of time represented in this style of post-modernism. Street lines Breite Straße and Lindenufer, historic old town Berlin-Spandau Color design for new coat of paint 2012 They are characterized by a high sensitivity design, partially with some colored windows. These requirements were considered and the resulting basic atmospheres derived in colorful shades of gray. As a result are all building structures much more noticable and easier understandable. here: houses at Lindenufer before and after

6 Color designs for industrial systems. The design can be understood as built public relations. Coop. with v.garnier Studio Industrial plants at the present time can be - by means of a colored design - partners of the landscape and can act with positive qualities into it. To achieve this integration, large building designed mostly with individual revitalised green tones, varies by sunny yellow or blue tones - to name a few. This is beneficial to the image of the company and people can be proud of their workplaces. Furthermore, color can arrange functions comprehensible, which increases the safety at workplace.

7 Color interior design for new construction of industrial facilities, international Coop. v.garnier Studio, In my collaboration with Studio v.garnier I have worked for many large companies, for example ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe, German Edelstahlweke or Bayer CropScience. In addition to the exterior color concepts indoor designs have become more important especially for industrial plants. Sunny, cheerful or fresh interior colors improve the lighting conditions in the production rooms and also the working conditions. They provide safety aspects and make highly engineered, reliable and environmentally sound production cycles understandable for customers.

8 Public buildings, office and administration buildings, Various projects in cooperation with Studio v. Garnier Any type of building can be upgraded by color in terms of its architecture and cubature. The architecture defines the rhythm, the melody follows the color and can be interpreted atmospherically. The order of color nuances always follows the materials. Therefore colors of plaster and concrete are generally warmer and more stony defined. For Metals it is much more credible to connect fresher and stronger colors with smooth surfaces.
