We are now a full service general contracting company with a team of skilled trades, project managers and interior designers. Our growth is based mainly on word-of-mouth referrals and we are extremely proud of that! What sets you apart from your competitors? Coolest project you ve worked on lately: We just finished a project in Cambridge. The house had a substantial fire and the resulting damage allowed us to start fresh. I offer consultations by the hour through to full-home renovations. I have focused on residential design for all budgets but have also worked on some fantastic jobs for the Sleeman Brewery through to dental and law practices. How would you describe your style? After 22 years in the business, my style has evolved but my design foundations have remained intact. I have always loved white-to-light walls with warm woods, natural and durable materials with texture, and rustic warmth to make a house feel like a home. For spring, I love greenery, fresh flowers or a beautiful real palm or fig tree. A great artificial also does the trick! What are some of your favourite trends for 2017? I really don t stray too far out of the box when it comes to big budget items. To stay current, add accessories, pillows or art to transform a space without overspending. I fought the gold resurgence for a long time but warm brass tones pair nicely with classic black or can warm up a space with cool metals such as chrome or stainless steel. How did you learn about upholstery and master your skills? About 27 years ago when my family and I came to Canada, we made friends with an extraordinary couple in Nova Scotia where we first settled. They helped me find a job as an apprentice with an upholsterer. It was something that always interested me, so I learned everything I could from him until I mastered the craft and moved to Ontario. Once here, I worked with other upholsterers and companies until I finally started on my own. What do you love most about what you do? Helping clients bring their image to life. They come in with a fabric or design in mind and sometimes we have to change it to make it work, but once we get it right, I love the look on their faces when they see the finished product. Many times it isn t just furniture, it s an heirloom or something value dearly. I enjoy making sure they are absolutely satisfied.
