The exclusive 3RD technology combines a high content of recycled glass with a renewable plant-based binding agent, completely replacing traditional petroleumbased binding. This further reduces the environmental impact and saves thousands of barrels of crude oil each year. The replacement of the traditional binder in the Focus products is just the beginning. This global R&D strategy is a natural step towards CertainTeed Ceiling s mission to achieve complete sustainability. Products using 3RD Technology are otherwise the same as the standard Ecophon products, offering the same excellent acoustics, surface and edge durability, and ease of handling. Ecophon aims to convert their entire product line within the coming year.

5 Ecophon Focus E Ecophon Super G 5 Ecophon Wall Panels create vertical acoustic opportunities. Sound absorption is traditionally added to a space using suspended acoustic ceilings. However, there are many situations where a partial or complete acoustical ceiling isn t possible or enough to achieve the desired sound attenuation. That is why CertainTeed Ceilings has introduced Ecophon Wall Panel solutions to North America. Available in two options, Texona or Super G, these innovative panels allow architects to achieve the highest acoustical performance with a broad range of creative opportunities. Both Ecophon Wall Panel options Texona and Super G provide class A sound absorption and meet ASTM E84 for flame spread and ASTM E1264 for smoke development. Both platforms help architects and building professionals leverage the benefits of CertainTeed s high-performance ceilings products, while eliminating the time-intensive manual research and analysis of green building projects. With over 390 CertainTeed ceiling products in the system, architects and designers can easily access the technical information needed for their projects. SmartBIM Allowing architects and designers to gauge environmental performance throughout the design process, the SmartBIM Tool featuring ecoscorecard is a plug-in for use with Autodesk Revit 2012 and Trimble SketchUp. The tool embeds all of the environmental data included in ecoscorecard into the product s BIM object, allowing architects and designers to search, select and download product models by keyword, name or CSI section in a few simple steps. The SmartBIM Tool enables architects and designers to perform evaluations that until recently took hundreds of hours and cost owners thousands of dollars to complete, said Mike Collins, executive vice president of sales and marketing at SmartBIM.
