SECTION 2. SOLUTION RATIO ADJUSTMENT The high volume water heater can inject or mix solution and water from a low of 1 parts agent to 500 parts of water or 0.2% to a high of 1 parts agent to 64 parts of water or 1.6%. Setting the position of the adjustment sleeve on the Dosatron determines the percentage of cleaning or decontamination agent added to the wash solution. The solution ratio is adjusted as follows: 1. Turn the water supply off and allow pressure to drop. 2. Unscrew the medium retaining nut 2 full turns. 3. Screw in or unscrew the injection stem until the desired mark on the graduated scale is aligned with the line inside the clear indicator ring. 4. Hand tighten medium retaining nut. Page 5 of 10
SECTION 3. WATER HEATER DELOYMENT The following procedures indicate the steps necessary to place the Heater system into operation. The basic procedures are: A. Locate and prepare the heater B. Purge the distribution pipes/connect water supply C. Connect the electric supply D. Activate the system A. Heater Preparation 1. Position the Heater in a convenient location within reach of the water and electric supply. 2. Insure that the Fuel Container has fuel, is in place, and is properly connected. 3. Insure that the Solution Container has solution, is in place and is properly connected. 4. Insure that the desired Solution ratio is set. See separate instructions on page Insure that all valves- Input, Output, and Drain- are in the OFF position. B. Purge Piping System 1. Open wash valves. (Lower left hand side with red tip) (Handle should be pointed straight back at the user) 2. Close rinse valves. (Lower right hand side with blue tip) (Handles should be pointed straight up) 3. Connect water supply with proper hose fitting, to the inlet of the water supply line. 4. Allow sufficient time for the water to flush the air out of the wash valves until a steady flow of water is present. 5. Open rinse valves. (Lower right hand side with blue tip) (Handles should be pointed straight back at the user) 6. Close wash valves. (Lower left hand side with red tip) (Handles should be pointed straight down) 7. Allow sufficient time for the water to flush the air out of the rinse valves until a steady flow of water is present. 8. Repeat procedures 1-3 and 5-8 if needed. 9. Purging procedure is now complete. C. Electric Supply 1. Connect the male plug of the electric GFCI Protected supply cable to the power source. 2. To activate GFCI, press reset button. (This must be done whenever water heater is disconnected and reconnected). Page 6 of 10
D. Activate the System 1. Turn Heater Switch to ON position. 2. Check the output water temperature on the Temperature Gauge Turn the control clockwise to decrease temperature. Turn the control counter clockwise to increase temperature. SECTION 4. SOLUTION INJECTOR MAINTENANCE The Injector has a series of O ring seals to prevent leakage. These seals should be replaced annually to insure leak proof operations. If the seals are exposed to harsh chemicals they may require more frequent replacement. Replacement rings are available as a kit. The Injector is designed for precise measurement and mixing of solutions. After extended usage, the Injector Piston will experience wear, and may cause deterioration in Injector accuracy. After three years of normal usage, the critical piston injector parts should be replaced. Replacement parts are available as a kit. REPLACEMENT OF SEALS 1. Injection Stem O Ring Unscrew and remove the middle Retaining Nut. Remove Injection Stem by twisting and pulling it straight out. Remove the old O Ring and install the new one. 2. Piston Plunger Seal with the Injection Stem removed, unscrew the Piston Plunger. The Plunger is located at the bottom of the Injector and the Stem was inserted into it. The seal is at the upper end of the Plunger. Remove the old seal and install the new one. 3. Injection Sleeve Seal and O Ring. Unscrew and remove the Injection Sleeve. This is the part which screws into the large black Retainer Nut at the bottom of the blue Injector body. There is a Seal and an O Ring at the top or upper end of the Sleeve. Remove and replace the Seal and O Ring. MAINTENANCE OF INJECTOR PISTON 1. Detailed maintenance instructions are provided with the Piston Maintenance Kit. SECTION 5. WATER HEATER MAINTENANCE This requires only minimal maintenance. However, it is recommended that it be carefully cleaned and inspected after each use. A. Piping System Clean the Solution Injector Filter (black valve body under the Temp. control valve). Unscrew the filter body by hand, and remove the mesh filter. Flush it thoroughly by spraying water through it from the outside surfaces. Page 7 of 10
B. Burner Unit 1. Inspect and replace Cap gaskets on the Fuel Can as necessary. 2. Inspect and replace Fuel lines as necessary. 3. Replace the Fuel Filter after 1000 hours of operation. Disconnect supply lines from Fuel Can. Unscrew the Filter and install a new one. 4. Replace the Electric Igniter and 1000 hour of operation. Instructions are provided with the replacement unit. 5. Service the Fuel Pump The Fuel Pump uses a large electric motor to pump fuel into the combustion chamber under pressure. The motor uses all sealed bearings and requires no maintenance. The pump is selflubricating. Inspect for leakage or damage and contact the factory for repair. SECTION 6. WATER HEATER STORAGE The Water Heater Injection System should be drained, cleaned, and dried after each use before storage. If it is to be stored more than two months, drain the fuel from the Burner unit. WARNING: The Heater must be completely drained before storage according to the procedures below to prevent damage from freezing. If the Heater has been stored in sub-freezing temperatures, it must be warmed before connecting to a water supply to prevent freezing and blocking of water flow. A. Solution Container 1. Empty and wash the Solution Container. Fill with clean water. 2. Open the Wash Output valve and flush the system for 3-5 minutes with clean water. 3. Disconnect the Feed Tube from the Container. 4. Empty and dry the Solution container. 5. Reconnect the Feed Tube to the container. B. Blow-Out Procedure 1. Disconnect water supply. 2. Open rinse valves. (Lower right hand side with blue tips) (Handles should be pointed straight back at the user) 3. Close wash valves. (Lower left hand side with red tips) (Handles should be pointed straight down) 4. Connect air supply with proper air fitting, to the air valve on the water supply line. Page 8 of 10
5. Allow sufficient time for water to drain out of the rinse valves until no visible flow is present. 6. Open wash valves. (Lower left hand side with red tips) (Handles should be pointed straight back at the user) 7. Open filter valve. (Bottom of the black filter upstream from the Dosatron) 8. Close rinse valves. (Lower right hand side with blue tips) (Handles should be pointed straight up) 9. Allow sufficient time for water to drain out of the wash valves until no visible flow is present. 10. Repeat procedures 2-3 and 5-9 if needed. 11. Blow out procedure is now complete C. Solution Injector 1. Unscrew the small black Retaining Nut at the bottom of the Injection Stem. 2. Carefully pull down and remove the Feed Tube assembly from the Injection Stem. 3. Push down on the black button on top of the blue Injector Housing and allow all water to drain. 4. Remove water from the Feed Tube Assembly, which is now disconnected. Grasp the Solution Container end (the end with the quick connect fitting) and twirl it rapidly in a circular motion until all water is forced from the tube. Use care, as this action will cause water to be sprayed onto the surrounding area as it is ejected from the end of the twirling tube. 5. Unscrew the blue Body Cover from the Injector. Clean and dry the interior of the Housing and the exposed Piston. Carefully replace the cover. 6. Reattach the Tube Assembly to the Injection Stem. D. Burner Unit 1. Rinse with clean water sparingly and wipe down with clean cloth. 2. Do NOT put water over or inside the Heat Chamber. 3. Allow the heater to dry for 24 hours in an open area. NOTE: If necessary to purge all fuel from the burner, follow these steps: Disconnect the feed tube inside the fuel can from the container cap assembly. Run the heater until the burner shuts down.
