6 Introduction Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to MEC! With this new Clean Air System you breathe cleaner air. For the best results, place the Clean Air System in a room where you spend most of your time, e.g. the living room or bedroom. Wherever there are people, plants or pets, there are airborne particles that can affect your well-being, especially if you suffer from allergies. Because of these particles, the air inside a room may be more polluted than the air in a large city. Normally, particles are invisible and odorless. Nevertheless they can affect your health. The - Clean Air System reduces the amount of animal dander and industrial pollutants in the air, and therefore improves the air quality. It also filters out ultrafine particles larger than 20 nanometers, including bacteria and some viruses. According to publications of the World Health Organization, the avian and human influenza viruses and the legionella bacterium are larger than 20 nanometers Filtration in several stages The air cleaner has a unique multi-stage filtration system that guarantees the best air quality: Stage 1: The pre-filter has been treated with antibacterial substances. It catches big particles like human hair, pet hair etc. Stage 2: The multi-filter which adopts organic antibacterial material filters out small particles and pollen. Also with antibacterial and antifungal functions, it can eliminate bacteria and fungi. Stage 3: The high-performance composite HEPA filter with anti-bacterial coating effectively removes fine dust and cigarette smoke, while the antibacterial and anti-mould functions of organic antibacterial materials eliminate germs and mould. - According to the publications of the World Heath Organization, the avian and human influenza viruses and legionella bacterium are larger than 20 nanometers. Stage 4: Activated carbon filter can effectively absorb formaldehyde, toluene, volatile organic compounds (VOCs),Ammonia, Acetaldehyde and Acid and other odors and harmful gases.. 4
7 Stage 5: Plasma generator makes use of the ionized plasma to form the plasma field, where can produces streamer discharge and partial ionization. During the gas ionization, it will produce large amount of oxygen, OH, active factor and radicals. Harmful substances in the gas will be decomposed and oxidized during the ionization discharge and streamer procedure. The bonds the disinfection and sterilization fundamentally and efficiently sterilize, degusting filter out smoke and odors Model and Filter Functions Model Filter Function P-F M-F-F H-P-H-F A-C-F P-Y-T-D-F P NANO HIPPO 50WH Yes Yes Yes Yes No Yes (P-F) : Pre-filter (H-P-H-F) : High Performance HEPA Filter (P) : Plasma (M-F-F) : Multi-fuction Filter (A-C-F): Activated Carbon Filter 5

19 Maintenance Maintenance regularly clean the inside and outside of the body to prevent the dust from collecting on the inside and outside. 1 Wipe away dust with a soft dry cloth from the body of the appliance. 2 Clean the air inlet and the air outlet with a soft dry cloth. Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid. Never use aggressive or flammable cleaning agents such as bleach or alcohol to clean any part of the appliance. Only the pre-filter is washable. All other filters are NOT washable. Cleaning Pre-filter Clean the air quality sensor every 3 months for optimal functioning of the appliance. Clean it more frequently if you use the appliance in a dusty environment. Always unplug the appliance before you clean it. 1 Remove the pre-filter according to the second method of initial use. 2 Wash the pre-filter under a running tap. If the pre-filter is very dirty, use a soft brush to brush away the dust. You can also remove the dust by a vacuum cleaner. 3 Air-dry the pre-filter. 21 Filter replacement This air cleaner is equipped with the Smart Lock feature to ensure that the filters are in optimal condition when the appliance is operating. When one of the filters is almost full and has to be cleaned or replaced, the appropriate filter replacement light starts to flash. When you do not replace filter 2, filter 3 and filter 4, the appliance stops operating and the appliance is locked First alert to change the filter The filter function will be relatively weak when the lifetime is over. The air quality light will flash to remind the users changing the filter. Second alert to change the filter If you do not replace the filter in time after the first alert, approx. 3 weeks after the air quality light will flash and the buzzer sounds every 30 minutes to remind you replacing the filter. Filter replacement lock If you do not replace the filter in time during the first and second alerts, the appliance will be locked after operating approx 3 weeks: appliance stop working, power light and air quality light flash with continuous beep. 1 How long it takes before the appliance is locked depends on the operating time selected and the indoor air quality after the filter replacement alert. 2 When the appliance is locked, you hear a beep when you press any button. You can s witch off the appliance by pressing and holding the on/off button. 3 If the appliance is locked: Switch off the appliance and unplug it. Replace the appropriate filter (see section replacing the filters ) Replacing the filters and reset the appliance Replacing the filters Please refer to the ( Replacing the filters and reset the appliance section ) 19

23 TROUBLE SHOOTING This chapter summarizes the most common problems you could encounter with the appliance. If you are unable to solve the problem with the information below, contact the Consumer Care Center in your country. Problem The appliance doesn t work No air comes out the air outlet Possible solution You ignored the filter replacement alerts. You did not replace the filter when the filter replacement light started flashing and did not respond when the appliance started to beep every 30 minutes after approx. 3 weeks. As a result, the appliance is now locked and you have to replace the filter and reset the appliance (see chapter Filter replacement ) so that the appliance can operate again. The appliance is not switched on. Put the plug into the wall socket and switch on the appliance. The fan speed does not change when the AUTO mode is activated When the room becomes dark, the night mode is activated automatically when the appliance is in the auto mode. In this case, the fan speed is set to a very low level. If you wan to change the fan speed, press the HIGH-SOEED, MID-SPEED and LOW-SPEED buttons to set the desired fan speed. 21
24 Problem The airflow that comes out of the air outlet is significantly weaker than before The air quality does not improve, even though the appliance has been operating for a long time. Possible solution 1. The pre-filter is dirty. Clean the pre-filter (see chapter maintenance and cleaning). 2. You haven t removed all packing material from the filters. Make sure that you have removed all packing material. 1. One of the filters has not been placed in the appliance. Make sure that all filters are properly installed in the following order, starting with the innermost filter: 1) activated carbon filter or nanometer photocatalysis titanium dioxide filter, 2) HEPA filter, 3) multi-care filter, 4) pre-filter. 2. The air quality sensor is wet. The humidity level in your room is high and cause con densation. Make sure the air quality sensor is dry and clean. (see chapter maintenance and cleaning ) 3 The room in which you run the appliance is larger than 55, which is the maximum size at which this air cleaner can operate effectively. The color of the air quality light always stays the same 1. The air quality sensor is dirty, clean the air quality sensor. (see chapter maintenance and cleaning ) 2. There is not enough ventilation in the room. Open a window to improve the air circulation. 22
25 Problem I need cleaner air because I have an allergy. The appliance is extra loud Possible solution You can change the air quality sensor sensitivity (see chapter using the appliance ) to make the air cleaner clean the air even better. You haven t removed all packing material from the filters. Make sure that you have removed all packing material. The appliance still indicates that I need to replace a filter, but I already did. Perhaps you did not press the filter reset button properly. Plug the appliance and press the reset button on the controller for 2 seconds or the reset button at the air inlet of the air quality sensor for 2 seconds. When the buzzer sounds one time, the using time of the filter has been cleared and restarted. The light of the air quality is on indicating that the reset is successful. 23
