16 Determining heating capacity. How do I determine the capacity my fireplace needs to heat the desired space? You can easily determine the capacity of the fireplace that you need to heat the desired space. The graph below shows the capacity expressed in kilowatts (kw). The space to be heated is expressed in cubic metres (m 3 ). The number of cubic metres is determined by the length, width and height of the room to multiply. You can then read the required power at the intersection of one of the three lines. Which of the three lines you need to choose depends on how well insulated your home is. Line A: applies to a well insulated house. The house has double glazing, wall insulation and floor insulation. Line B: applies to a reasonably insulated house. The house has double glazing at minimum. Line C: applies to a poorly insulated house. The property has none of the above mentioned forms of insulation. Please note! There are also certain factors that cause increased heat loss in the home. One example is an open kitchen or an open staircase. This results in heat lost. This heat loss can be absorbed by choosing a fireplace or stove with a larger one capacity in these situations. If a device is discontinued, Bellfires ensures that the parts necessary for the correct functioning of the appliance are available for at least 10 years, after production ceases or that replacement parts are available.
