2 Item Service Part Number Description Tool Number Material Name Heater core and evaporator core housing Notes Removal NOTE: If a heater core leak is suspected, the heater core must be pressure leak tested before it is removed from the vehicle. Refer to Climate Control System Component Test. 1. Remove the instrument panel assembly. REFER to Section , Instrument Panel. 2. Position the instrument panel with the passenger side supported as shown. 3. Remove the bolts and the RH insulation panel. Disconnect the electrical connector. 2/10

3 4. Remove the 2 RFA module nuts and remove the RFA module. 5. Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors and detach the wire harness pin-type retainer. 6. Detach the 4 wire harness pin-type retainers and disconnect the electrical connector. 3/10

4 7. Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors, detach the wire harness pin-type retainer and detach the instrument panel wire harness from the heater core and evaporator core housing. 8. Remove the 2 floor duct screws and remove the floor duct. 4/10

5 9. Remove the 2 heater core and evaporator core housing retainers. 10. Remove the 4 heater core and evaporator core housing retainers. 5/10

6 11. Remove the heater core and evaporator core housing. Installation 1. Install the heater core and evaporator core housing. 2. Install the 4 heater core and evaporator core housing bolts. Tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in). 6/10

7 3. Install the 2heater core and evaporator core housing bolts. Tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in). 4. Install the floor duct and the 2 floor duct screws. 7/10

8 5. Attach the instrument panel wire harness to the heater core and evaporator, attach the wire harness pin-type retainers and connect the 3 electrical connectors. 6. Connect the electrical connector and attach the 3 wire harness pin-type retainers. 8/10

9 7. Attach the wire harness pin-type retainer and connect the 3 electrical connectors. 8. Install the RFA module and install the 2 RFA module nuts. 9/10

10 9. Install the RH instrument panel insulator and the instrument panel insulator screws. Connect the electrical connector Tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in). 10. Install the instrument panel. REFER to Section , Instrument Panel. Copyright 2018 Ford Motor Company 10/10
