6 6 SELF CONTAINED UNITS SELF CONTAINED UNITS This airco is the smallest unit available within the MAR IX product range, available in 2 or 3 kw cooling capacity. The self contained unit (SCU) is a complete and compact air conditioning system for small or medium sized boats, ideal to cool a single compartment. With its small footprint and flexibility, the quiet unit can be installed in narrow spaces. Environmental friendly refrigerant is used to meet the latest requirements. 10 10 AIRCO CHILLER UNITS AIRCO CHILLER UNITS MARIX chiller units are robust and compact air conditioning units. This chiller series is designed in such a way that all refrigeration components are placed in a stainless steel casing. This ensures sound reduction and protection of the chiller against tough conditions in an engine room or other technical space. A major advantage of the smart compact design is that the chiller occupies little space. The MARIX Aseries chiller units are equipped with simplified control technology. The cooling capacity is regulated by switching the compressor on and off. The larger units are equipped with a soft start to prevent startup current peaks. It is standard that AIV chiller units are suitable for the most common power supplies, and will function on 50 as well as 60Hz. 14 14 CLIMA INVERTER CHILLER UNITS CLIMA INVERTER CHILLER UNITS MARIX clima inverter chiller units are designed to have a compact unit available on ships up to approximately 15 meters, that provides cooling, heating and warm water. All refrigeration components, a diesel heater and a heat exchanger are placed in a stainless steel casing, making it possible to achieve all the above functions in a single unit. With the stainless steel casing, the unit will barely produce sound and is protected against tough conditions in an engine room or other technical space. The MARIX CIV series chiller units are equipped with inverter compressor technology which means that the chiller does not switch the compressor on and off, but varies in speed to control the cooling capacity. By using this inverter compressor technology, current peaks belong to the past and the electric system on board the ship will not be disrupted. It is standard that CIV units are suitable for the most common power supplies, and will function on 50 as well as 60Hz. All CIV systems are equipped with a heat exchanger which can be connected to the generator or main engine. In this way the heat from the engine can be reused. It is even possible to heat up the potable water system with the diesel heater when the air conditioning function is active. 16 16 HYDRAULIC DRIVEN CHILLER UNITS HYDRAULIC DRIVEN CHILLER UNITS MARIX hydraulic chiller units are designed for ships equipped without a generator; cooling is generated by a hydraulic system. The compressor and seawater pump are driven by hydraulic engines in the often already existing hydraulic system on board these ships. This makes the generator redundant. In addition, the hydraulic chiller unit is designed to function under the most severe shocks and under a large tilt angle. 18 18 MODULAR CHILLER RACK MODULAR CHILLER RACK The MARIX chiller rack is one of the latest developments in the application of multiple chiller units. In many cases more than one chiller unit will be used in the larger vessels in order to achieve a larger cooling capacity and to increase the reliability if there is a malfunctioning unit. The MARIX chiller rack is made up of standard chiller units of the A or AIV series; the size depending on the required cooling capacity. Service, maintenance and spare parts will then be the same for each ship, which will lower the costs and required knowledge. Each chiller unit operates independently; in case of a malfunction of one unit, the other chillers continue to operate normally. Chillers can be removed and replaced separately while the system as a whole is functioning. In addition, each rack chiller can be equipped with a touch screen on which the entire system can be monitored. If an internet connection is available, software updates can be carried out automatically and in case of a malfunction, a Mavé engineer can assist online to solve the problem. 20 20 FAN COIL UNITS FAN COIL UNITS MARIX fan coil units are known for their sophisticated and compact design of a high quality with a low noise level. There are various types of fan coil units available; different capacities and power supplies can be chosen. Fan coil units can be supplied with or without a 2 or 3 way valve and/or electric heater. By applying highpressure fans, it is possible to use long lengths of air channels. By applying highquality fans, fans will produce no mechanical noise at low and high speed. All fans have a speed range of 5100% and therefore are not regulated in large steps. To achieve a very low noise level in your HVAC system, Mavé can assist you with the design of the air ducts. Custom design is available on request. 32 32 DEFROSTER UNITS DEFROSTER UNITS Clean windows in the wheelhouse contribute to safety when sailing in bad weather. Mavé has designed a unique system that will actively dehumidify windows and air inside the wheelhouse. MARIX defrosters will first heat up the air and then cool it down again, which causes the air to be dehumidified. The unit can be connected to any chilled water source and is temperature controlled by a 2way valve. 36 36 ELECTRIC WATER HEATERS ELECTRIC WATER HEATERS MARIX electric water heaters are available in a large range of capacities and power supplies. Water heaters are not only used for heating ships, but can also be used for potable water heating or frost protection. TECHNICAL FEATURES Available from 3 up to 30 kw Inverter system (optional) Completely stainless steel Easy installation The HE water heater series converts electric power into heat. Smaller capacities can suffice with a 230Vac supply, larger capacities will mostly be powered by 400Vac. All heater models will function on 50 and 60 Hz. By default, the models are available up to a capacity of 30 kw. When a higher capacity is required, several heater units can be used together in one system. All the models can be equipped with a simple manual thermostat, which switches the heating element on and off. In addition, all models are also available with a variable capacity control, which will gradually adjust the power supply to the desired water temperature. This will result in a constant temperature and the electrical system will not be exposed to fluctuating current consumptions. 40 40 AIR HANDLING UNITS AIR HANDLING UNITS Mavé is the only company in the world that has introduced a ventilation system that fully meets the requirements on board ships. The materials used are resistant to the harsh conditions and salty air on board. The unit sizing is so compact that it can be applied on all ships. In addition, fresh air units can be equipped with a heat recovery system; a system which reuses up to 60% of the energy of the extraction air. This means that the required capacity is lower, and therefore that a smaller chiller or heater will suffice. Subsequently, a smaller generator can be used, which reduces costs. Firstly, a supply unit that emits fresh, filtered and conditioned air into all areas, and secondly a return unit that extracts air from toilets and wet areas. Residual heat (energy), which is normally discharged outside, will be used by the unique heat recovery system to preheat or cool the fresh air in the supply unit. The systems are equipped with a pressure controlled fan. The use of pressure controlled fans ensures that the volume of emitted air always remains constant. The pressure controlled fans keep the air in the ship at a slight overpressure, so that warm air will not enter the ship when a door is opened. The system is selfadjusting in case the air filters pollute. 44 44 TOUCH SCREEN TOUCH SCREEN Mavé has developed a unique communication system, where all components in the HVAC system can communicate with each other. Because of this unique system, the components operate with a maximum of comfort at a minimum of energy use and sound level. If cooling is required in one or more particular spaces, the software controls the chillers. The required cooling capacity is calculated by the software through a number of available parameters. The software then reduces the power output to the chillers to what is required at that time. The system regulates itself; if at certain times there is little power available on board, the power used by the complete MARIX system can be reduced with one single external signal. It is even possible to reduce the power output to one single preference part of the HVAC system. The owner s cabin, for example, can be an exception, so that the comfort is not being compromised. The MARIX communication system is equipped with a 9" touch screen to control and monitor each individual system component. With the touch screen, parameters can be changed or the system can be switched to another mode (frost protection mode). Log files are created and saved. Since all data are recorded, errors are easily diagnosed.
