5 HD 450 Injection Ecological, efficient and valid: With the use of an injection rail, the Thermal Disinfector HD 450 can process 8 or 18 hollow body instruments at a time. The flexible injection rail with 8 adapters is especially suitable for preparation of manual and angle pieces. The flexible injection rail with 18 adapters offers further options, also in connection with additional hoses e.g. for adaption of surgical vacuums. The stainless-steel base cabinet for the Thermal Disinfector HD 450 series allows simple installation in an existing space in your sterilization line. 13 Legal compliance In the case of an accusation following a medical treatment, the so-called reversal of the burden of proof clause applies, meaning that the treatment provider must prove that the instruments were hygienically prepared (backdated up to 30 years). The secure process documentation of the HD 450 provides you with legal security and fulfills the RKI (Robert Koch Institute) guidelines and the Medical Device Directive. With continuous and transparent documentation of the hygiene measures, as provided by our HD 450, this proof can easily be provided and respective accusations eliminated. The documentation of all process parameters is stored in the unit as a protocol. The HD 450 has a standard network interface and USB port for accessing the process documentation. Reading out of the protocol is performed with the documentation software included in delivery, either conveniently via the practice network, PC or via USB stick. The ongoing process documentation extensively evaluates parameters, which offers the perfect security for tracking processes of actual and target values. This includes the A0 value, tab monitoring, conductivity and spray arm monitoring as well as temperature curves. We spoke with the dentist, Dirk H. Zipprich from Aschaffenburg. About Mr. Zipprich Dirk H. Zipprich has been working as a resident dentist in Aschaffenburg since He has many years of experience with his main focus on microscopic dentistry, endodontology and implantology. 19 Praxistest IC Medical: Mr. Zipprich, what demands must a thermal disinfector fulfil in your practice? Dirk H. Zipprich: We face two factors: an extreme amount of instruments our practice consists of one dentist and three dental hygienists and limited space for preparation. Our old units couldn t keep up anymore. Therefore, I started looking for a solution that saves space and has high performance at the same time.... which is why you purchased two units? Dirk H. Zipprich: Exactly. Both are installed in the hygiene room, on top of each other, and are controlled with an external operating element. 21 Review No, this is not a discussion about the pros and cons of automated preparation of medical instruments since according to the RKI or KRINKO guidelines, hollow spaces are viewed unfavorably. This report should provide assistance in the selection of a cleansing and disinfection unit that is suitable for the practice and purpose. Features and properties According to the opinion of the author, the exceptional properties of the cleansing and disinfection unit described here are the significantly advantageous user friendly and simple operation options. Since there is only one process program, which can also be followed visually during the process of cleansing and disinfection in the touch field for operating the unit, there are no disturbances in the operation of the unit. IC Medical intentionally eliminated complex and complicated programming of various preparation variations. If it can be ensured that the water hardness is below 21 dh, then the correct cleansing and disinfection function of the unit does not require specially pre-treated water. The addition of an oxide thermos tab in the door dispenser of the units is sufficient for one preparation cycle. Validation This point also only has positive results to report: The unlimited validation of the HD 450 Injection only incurs initial costs of approximately 750 Euros for the first validation (reg. IC Medical: Please ask for costs directly from the validation company). The prices for revalidation, based on the abovementioned study, are approximately 500 Euros. It is especially positive that the maintenance of the unit by IC Medical is not prescribed by definite, automatic work cycle figures. Basic maintenance work merely involves the annual (unit-year) exchange of the spray arm and the filter in the unit sump. Conclusion In the author s experience, the HD 450 Injection from IC Medical is a beneficial cleansing and disinfection unit for automatic preparation which is second to none.
