7 1/ INSTLLING YOUR PPLINCE VTILTION SPCE CHOICE OF LOCTION The distance between the edge of your appliance and the side and rear walls (or partitions) must be at least 4 cm. Your appliance may be built in without any restriction above a cabinet, an oven or a built-in appliance. Check, however, that the air intake and outlet are free of obstruction (see description of your appliance chapter). bove a cupboard with a door or drawer UILDING-IN Follow the diagram above. Glue the foam seal underneath your appliance, following the perimeter of the hole in the worktop, upon which your appliance will rest. This will ensure a good seal against the worktop. bove an oven When the hob is built into your worktop above an oven, this oven must be equipped with internal ventilation to cool it. Tip If your hob is located above your oven, the hob s thermal safety devices can impede the simultaneous use of the hob and the oven s pyrolysis programme. Your hob is equipped with an anti-overheating safety system. This safety device can trigger, for example, when the hob is installed over an oven that is not sufficiently insulated. If this occurs, a series of small lines appears on the control panel. In such circumstances, we recommend that you increase the hob s ventilation by creating an opening in the side of the cabinet, (8 x 5 cm), and/or installing an oven insulation kit available from the aftersales department (Ref. 75X1652). 7

8 1/ INSTLLING YOUR PPLINCE CONNECTION These hobs must be connected to the power grid via an electrical outlet that complies with EIC publication or an all-pole cutoff device that complies with installation regulations in effect. When power is first supplied to your hob, or after an extended power outage, an indicator light will appear on the control panel. It automatically disappears after approximately 30 seconds, or as soon as any touch control on the control panel is pressed. This display is normal and, if needed, serves as an indication to the after-sales service staff. 9 2 / USING YOUR PPLINCE We have designed this cooking hob for use by private persons in their homes. This hob is designed exclusively for the cooking of drinks and foodstuffs and does not contain any asbestos-based component parts. This appliance is not intended for use by individuals (including children) with impaired physical, sensorial or mental abilities, or persons lacking in knowledge or experience, unless they receive prior supervision or instructions on using the appliance from a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. The induction principle The principle of induction is based on a magnetic phenomenon. When you place your recipient on a cooking zone that you switch on, the electronic circuits produces induced currents in the base of the recipient whose temperature rises immediately. This heat is then transferred to the food. Cookware Most cookware is compatible with induction. To check the suitability of your cookware, place the vessel on a cooking zone at power level 4. - If the display remains on, your cookware is compatible. - If the display flashes, your cookware cannot be used with induction cooking. You can also use a magnet to test the cookware. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of the cookware, it is compatible with induction. Only glass, earth, aluminium without a special base, copper and some non-magnetic stainless steels do not work with induction cooking. We suggest that you choose cookware with a thick and flat bottom. - Inductor - Electronic circuit C - Induced currents + - C We do not recommend using any hob protection mechanisms. We recommend you to avoid placing hot dishes on the display screen. 9
