2 Various 2 3 For your safety First read this entire operating manual, and keep it in a safe place for other users To avoid damage, only use genuine cremesso capsules with this machine Intended use: This appliance may only be used as described in this manual. Using it for other purposes is abusive and dangerous Danger of electric shock! Never immerse the machine in water or any other liquid Connect only to a properly grounded power point ( V) protected by at least a 10 A fuse. To make sure that the machine is switched off, remove the plug from the power point Always pull out the power plug before: relocating the machine cleaning or maintenance long periods of disuse Never clamp or run the power cable over sharp corners or edges: Danger of electric shock! Damaged power cables may only be replaced at the customer service centre: Danger of electric shock! Never touch the power plug/socket/ cable or the machine with damp or wet hands. Never unplug by pulling the power cable; always pull out the plug If you need an extension cable, make sure it is suitable for your machine (3- pole grounded, and at least 1.5 mm² conductor cross-section), and lay the cable to avoid tripping We recommend connecting the machine via an Fl circuit breaker. Consult a specialist if in doubt Danger of scalding! Never move the machine during operation! Never operate the machine without water A permanent water supply connection is not allowed Danger of burning! Never touch very hot parts of the machine (e.g. brew unit during operation) Danger of scalding! Do not touch the coffee/water or milk jets Danger of scalding! Never start the machine when the operating lever is open Danger of scalding! Do not move the operating lever when the machine is still under pressure making tea or coffee Do not insert fingers or hands under the operating lever: Danger of crushing! Do not insert fingers in the capsule holder. Danger of burning/cutting! The machine location must meet the following requirements: Place on a dry, stable and level surface that is waterproof and heat-proof At least 60 cm (2 feet) away from sink and taps Only use in dry rooms Do not use the machine in case of: faulty operation damaged power cable after falling or other damage In such cases immediately have the machine checked and repaired if necessary at the customer service centre Never place the machine: directly on marble surfaces, untreated or oiled woodwork (risk of non-removable coffee or descaler stains; no claims will be entertained in such cases) directly beneath a power socket on flammable or meltable objects or surfaces on hot surfaces or nearer than 50 cm to open flames (same applies to the power cable!) under any covering To prevent frost damage, do not store the machine at temperatures below 5 C (e.g. in caravans) Pull out the power plug and allow the machine to cool down completely before cleaning and/or maintenance Only use cleaning and descaling agents recommended by the manufacturer Descaling fluid can be a health hazard. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and other surfaces To prevent damage, never use replacement parts or accessories not recommended by the manufacturer. Persons, including children, who in view of the level of their physical, sensory or mental capacities, or their lack of experience or knowledge, are not in a position to use the equipment with safety, may not use this machine without supervision or instruction by a responsible person. Children more than 8 years old may use this appliance but only under supervision or after instruction and fully understanding the associated risks and dangers. Children must not play with this appliance because they cannot know the dangers involved. Keep this appliance and power cable away from children younger than 8. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be done by children unless they are aged 8 or more and under supervision. This appliance is intended for household and for similar applications such as: in kitchens for use by shop, office and other employees on farms for hotel, motel and apartment customers in boarding houses

5 8 Starting-up 9 Preparations / Setup / Water filling / Connecting / Venting 1.6 l Stand on a dry, stable, water and heat resistant surface. Never directly on marble or wood (risk of coffee or decalcifyer stains) Remove protective foil from both drip grilles Clean water tank with lukewarm water and household detergent, rinse out and allow to dry Fill water tank with cold water (max. 1.6 l). Change water daily. When tank is empty the cleaning lights up in blue key Plug into a grounded power socket. Turn on the power switch Cleaning key blue Vent/flush piping: Do not load a capsule. Place cup under nozzle and press cleaning key 2 or 3 times If cleaning key lights up in blue (= no water), press key again (without capsule) lights up in

6 10 Making coffee/tea 11 Your first cup of coffee or tea! Each cup requires one cremesso capsule. Other capsules will not work. Vent the piping after long pauses p. 26. Cup: place under the output. For large cups slide drip tray to the left. Tip: You can still make coffee when the milk tank is not inserted 3. Load capsule: 1. Push lever right back. 2. Let capsule fall squarely into chute. 3. Pull lever right forward (to puncture capsule) Coffee/tea output: Small, or large cup. medium Output stops automatically when full (or press key again to stop before). Eject capsule afterwards p. 16 Good to know The coffee/tea key flashes white after pressing if heating up is still in progress. Output starts when it stays white. Tip: use thick preheated cups for Ristretto and Espresso to keep your coffee warm. Preheat (without capsule) in cup. cup: fill Ristretto Vent piping: after long pauses (e.g. vacations) the piping will contain air ( page 26 «Flush and vent machine and piping»). Before changing between coffee and tea: Without capsule, press cleaning key to flush out piping ( page 26 «Flush and vent machine and piping»). Output quantities can be individually adjusted ( pages 19/20 «Coffee-/Milk output programming»). Important: Beware of hot coffee/tea: danger of scalding! Coffee/tea output is only possible with closed operating lever

7 12 Making milk drinks Preparation / Cleaning the milk circuit Remove the milk tank (if inserted): turn the milk nozzle vertically down (Caution: hot after output!) Press on «PUSH» at both sides. Then lift off the lid with milk nozzle Push hygiene straw (fully) on connector ( Change the hygiene straw daily) Turn the milk nozzle vertical. Gently push in the tank up to the stop. Then turn the milk nozzle to the right Cleaning the milk circuit: Cleaning goes amber when milk key tank is inserted. Place cup under milk output and... (cleanpress cleaning key ing can be repeated as long as key stays amber). Empty cup when cleaning is over 5-10 C Milk Hold the milk nozzle firmly and carefully pull out the tank (shutter then covers opening) Clic Fill milk tank up to the MAX mark (ideal temperature 5-10 C). Replace the lid (snaps in place)

8 14 Making milk drinks Preparation Cup: Slide drip tray to the left. Place large cup under milk & coffee nozzle 3. Load capsule: 1. Swing operating lever right back. 2. Let capsule fall squarely into opening. 3. Pull lever right forward (capsule is penetrated) Milk drink selection: Milk foam Latte Macchiato Cappuccino Milk coffee Starting milk drink output: Press the selected key. Output stops automatically when cup is full. (Press key again to stop before) Good to know Tips: Use a large cup the first time. Milk foam alone can also be issued: Press key again prior to coffee output. Milk: Any kind of milk can be used. For perfect milk foam use partially or fully skimmed milk (temperature 5-10 C). Notes: Change the hygiene straw daily Put milk tank in refrigerator immediately after output (hygiene) Milk and coffee drinks are very hot: Danger of scalding! Turn milk nozzle fully down to prevent spraying over edge of cup Coffee/tea output is only possible with closed operating lever After intensive use the milk system starts a cooling pause and interrupts milk output goes amber and milk output keys flash dark/ (about 20 minutes). Cleaning key light slowly. Coffee output is still possible. Empty the capsule container. To speed up (cleaning takes cooling: Place cup under milk nozzle and press cleaning key and milk keys slowly about 30 seconds). Afterwards the cleaning key goes white flash light/dark. After about 10 minutes they go out and milk drinks can be made again

9 16 After making a drink 17 Eject capsules, clean milk system, put milk tank in refrigerator Eject capsule: 1. Turn operating lever right back (used capsule falls into container). 2. Pull lever right forward Clean milk system after milk output: put cup under milk output and press cleaning key Good to know Hygiene: Always put full milk tank in the refrigerator. Capsules: can stick in the opening after some time. If this happens open and close the operating lever. If the capsule still sticks, press it gently down with one finger (CAUTION: hot inside, with sharp needle!). After opening the operating lever hot water may come out (not a fault). Empty the capsule and drainage tanks after making about 10 drinks or at least once daily to prevent overflowing. Turn milk nozzle vertically down (CAUTION: still hot after output!) Hold milk nozzle firmly and carefully pull out milk tank (flap then covers opening). Put milk tank in refrigerator or clean it

10 18 Special functions 19 Programming the coffee output quantity Energy-saving mode Energy-saving mode on: Cleaning slowly flashes light/dark key (white, or amber if cleaning required). With milk tank inserted the left-hand milk keys light up in turn after 5 minutes: Put milk tank in refrigerator! To turn off energy-saving mode: Pull the operating lever, insert milk tank or press any key (keys go white) Programming: Place cup under output nozzle Load capsule: 1. Push operating lever right back. 2. Let capsule fall squarely into opening. 3. Pull operating lever right forward 3 sec. Hold down key to be programmed,, (min. 3 seconds) une.g.: til it flashes quickly. Then it flashes slowly to indicate heating up Coffee output starts. As soon as the programmed amount is in the cup, press key again (coffee output stops and all keys light up again)

11 20 Special functions 21 Programming the milk output quantity sec. Insert milk tank ( p. 12). Programming: Place cup under output nozzle Load capsule: 1. Push operating lever right back. 2. Let capsule fall squarely into opening. 3. Pull operating lever right forward Hold down the key to be pro, (min. 3 grammed, e.g. seconds) until it flashes quickly. Then it flashes slowly to indicate heating up Milk foam output starts (with first coffee). As soon as the programmed amount is in the cup, press key again (output stops and key flashes slowly to indicate heating up) Good to know Coffee output starts (with milk). As soon as the programmed amount is in the cup, press key again (all keys light up again) Programming is finished. Repeat again with another key if desired Coffee/milk quantity: can be programmed for each of the three coffee or four milk output keys. The cleaning key is not programmable (starts decalcification). The programming range is the same for all coffee/milk output keys. Factory settings: Ristretto («small cup», 30 ml) Espresso («medium cup», 50 ml) Lungo/Tea («Tea cup/big cup», 110 ml) Milk foam (14 sec. milk foam output) Latte Macchiato (22 sec. milk foam output, 50 ml coffee) Cappuccino (10 sec. milk foam output, 50 ml coffee) Milk coffee (8 sec. warm milk output, 100 ml coffee) and Delete all settings (= factory setting): hold down cleaning key switch on machine

12 22 Cleaning / Maintenance / Descaling 23 Daily: Empty the capsule container and drip tray max. 55 C Clic Hold the drip tray and lift it gently forward Remove the capsule container, drip grille and upper drip tray Remove the lower drip grille Daily: Empty the water tank The drainage container can be removed if necessary from the lower drip tray (snaplock). Reassemble in reverse order after cleaning Good to know The capsule container holds about 10 capsules, and the drainage container about 500 ml (residual water from about 10 drinks). For hygienic reasons and to prevent overflow, empty the water tank, capsule container and drip trays daily. Important: Never clean any parts in the dishwasher (except the capsule container). 1.6 l Empty the water tank daily and fill with cold water (max. 1.6 l) Clean the water tank and lid with lukewarm water and household detergent. Never in the dishwasher!

13 Cleaning / Maintenance / Descaling Clean milk system and tank: daily max. 55 C max. 55 C Clic Always clean the milk system after the last milk output: place a cup under the nozzle and press the cleaning key Turn the milk nozzle downward, hold it firmly and carefully pull out the milk tank (Caution: hot nozzle after output!) Press on «PUSH» both sides (1.) and lift the lid gently. Then pull it off (2.). Clean all parts with warm water and household detergent Pull off and dispose of the hygiene straw (=hygiene). Lift the milk nozzle off the lid and clean it Mo, Tue, Wed, Thur, Fr, Sa, Su, Mo,.. Good to know Weekly: clean the milk nozzle with a brush and immerse overnight in cremesso milk cleaner. Then brush again and rinse well Clic Plug the milk nozzle back on the lid (snaplock) and insert a new hygiene straw. Place the lid back on the milk tank Always keep filled milk tank in the refrigerator when not in use. Note the milk storage life (normally 1-2 days). Change the hygiene straw daily! Clean the milk nozzle weekly with cremesso milk cleaner and replace it if necessary. Never immerse it in decalcifying agent. Your retailer will sell you new milk nozzles and hygiene straws (consumables not covered by the guarantee). Milk foam is cold clean or replace milk nozzle The milk tank and cover can be cleaned in the dishwasher, but to prevent damage never exceed 55 C. Tip: wash in the upper basket.

14 26 Cleaning / Maintenance / Descaling 27 Flush and vent machine and piping 1.6 l Before first startup or after long pauses (e.g. vacations), flush and vent the machine Fill water tank with cold water (max. 1.6 l) Place a cup under the nozzle. Do not load a capsule. If the cleaning flashes light/dark slowkey ly, press any key Press the cleaning key to start cleaning. After about 15 seconds the pump stops and cleaning is finished Cleaning the machine and ancillaries Good to know Always keep the power cable and plug dry. Pull out the power plug before cleaning. Never immerse the machine in water or clean under running water Clean the machine and nozzle with a damp cloth. Never rub dry or use abrasive cleaning agents

15 28 Cleaning / Maintenance / Descaling 29 At least every 2 months: descale (new version) Important! Regular cleaning (at least every two months) means better coffee and makes your appliance last longer. Scaling is not covered by the guarantee.. Use special descaler (never use vinegar) following the mixing instructions on the label. Remove all capsules from the machine before descaling. Power cuts or switching off interrupt the descaling programme. Then the cleaning key flashes red/violet because the water circuit still contains descaler which is a health hazard. Before making another drink in such case, always make sure the machine is flushed out with clean water. 10 sec. After 300 coffee servings or 200 milk drinks the cleaning key flashes red during output. Immediately descale the machine! Essig Vinaigre Aceto Vinegar Mix special descaler with water and fill the tank (at least 0.75 l; follow the mixing instructions on the label). Never use vinegar, which will damage the machine! 4 min. 1.6 l Press for 10 seconds; key flashes violet. Descaling starts. Descaler liquid is pumped through the machine at intervals. The next step comes in 30 minutes AntiCalc min l 30 min. min. 1.6 l Remove all capsules from the machine. Insert the empty milk tank. Place a large bowl (min. 1.6 l) under the nozzle Descale! (lights up): Rinse the water tank, fill with water, and insert. Empty the bowl and replace under the nozzles. Press to rinse. Key flashes violet. Next step in 4 minutes 1.6 l (lights up): Fill and insert to suck in water tank. Press water. The operating keys go white. Now the machine is ready for use

Key flashes blue. Next step in 4 minutes 1.6 l (lights up): Fill and insert to suck in water tank. Press water. The operating keys go white. Now the machine is ready for use

17 32 Cleaning / Maintenance / Descaling 33 Always steam out prior to storage or transport + +5 C To avoid storage and transport damage, steam out the machine beforehand (water removal). This is absolutely essential at temperatures below 5 C Switch off the machine. Drain the water tank and reinsert it. Insert the milk tank with nozzle and hygiene straw ( p. 11). Place a cup under the nozzle Hold down the Lungo/tea key and switch on the machine. The steaming out programme starts; now release the key Caution: steam coming out of the nozzle: danger of scalding! After a few seconds you will hear the pump. When it stops, the key lights extinguish and steaming out is finished Good to know Prior to long periods of disuse or at storage/transport temperatures below 5 C, steaming out the machine is essential to remove all water from the system. This prevents any frost damage inside the machine. Before operating again, first flush out the machine and piping ( page 20). At temperatures below 5 C, the machine cannot be started and the cleaning. key lights up red Switch off the machine and let it cool down. Pull out the power plug. Keep the machine in a dry dust-free place inaccessible to children Tip: Use the original packaging

No liability will be accepted for any damage due to unprofessional repairs and use of non-original spare parts, which may endanger the user and will render the guarantee null and void. If the troubleshooting guide below does not help you, please contact your nearest authorized retailer.
